You know what they say about the best laid plans...
Luci has big ones and they don't include getting laid. She's got scholarships to maintain, a grueling schedule of classes and soccer practice, and no room for nonsense. So when her captain makes it clear that the guys' team is off limits, it's not a problem...
Until she meets Ryan.
Star forward on the guys' soccer team. Hotter than should be legally allowed. And worst of all...her team captain's ex.
When Ryan talks Luci into being his partner in Spanish class, he makes her want things that could set all her big plans on fire. Things like Ryan, naked in her bed, naked in the locker room, naked on the quad...so much naked.
She shouldn't want him, but a girl can only have so much restraint when temptation throws a drool-inducing six-pack in your face and kisses in a way that makes breathing seem optional.
Dating Ryan was never Luci's plan, but plans can change. Is this hot jock worth risking everything she's worked for?
Goal Keeper is a laugh-out-loud standalone full of swoon-worthy, forbidden romance. Drop your plans and start reading today!
I absolutely LOVED this sweet telling of a young romance. It was one of those stories that brought me back to my early adult years about falling in love while trying to find myself as an adult. I was completely captivated by this heartwarming romance.
Luci Ryder is a freshman at Pearson, attending on a sports scholarship as the new goalie for the ladies soccer team. Everything about Luci’s dreams and future is riding on her sports and academic scholarships to get her through college to achieve her dreams. She is determined to allow nothing and no one to get in the way of her focused determination. But she wasn’t planning on Ryan, the dreamy, black haired soccer stud from the men’s soccer team.
Ryan VanKemp is a junior at Pearson. He is ready to kick off the new school year as a newly single man. He is ready to make this year the best one yet. He isn’t tied down and he is ready to spend his free time expanding his social life and kicking butt at soccer. He isn’t ready to be tied down after realizing he had a horrible girlfriend in the girl’s team captain Vanessa. But he wasn’t prepared for the new goal keeper with big beautiful brown eyes and hair named Luci to walk out onto the field to steal the show and his heart.
Snobby rich girl Vanessa is out to make Ryan pay for their break up and throws in a HUGE wedge between both soccer teams. No Dating or Fraternizing allowed between both teams. If she can’t have Ryan then no one can.
This story was absolutely perfect. It felt real, as if I was right there with Luci and Ryan and attending Pearson alongside them. I felt everything they felt. I wished for everything they did, and I anxiously anticipated Vanessa’s wrath as both Ryan and Luci tried to get through the soccer season to achieve their dreams in life and tried desperately not to fall in love and become the spotlight in Vanessa’s vengeance. It was a sweet telling of true love, big dreams, and finding the path that would lead them to the future they hoped for. It was a romantic story with warming love scenes and heartfelt moments that broke your heart. The author wrote the story beautifully. It was a great pace that kept the story moving fluently and drew you into it to bring to life the realism that this story crafted.
I give this story 5 out of 5 stars. Ryan and Luci have quickly become one of my favorite couples. I would definitely say they make the top ten.
I was lucky enough to snag an ARC of this new title Goal Keeper: A Pearson Players Novel in exchange for an honest review.
Rating: 5 Stars
Goal Keeper is a hilarious stand alone college romance that combines romance, big dreams, and finding ones path in the world. Luci Ryder is a freshman with her days planned perfectly between school and soccer. No time for anything else if she wants to keep her scholarships and stay on track. Newly single junior, Ryan VanKamp, is just happy to be free of his crazy rich snobby ex who also happens to be a senior and captain of the girls soccer team. Neither are looking for romance but despite the hurdles there is something there and it might be worth the risk.
Luci is easy to love. She has her goals and lists and is determined to stick to them. I make lists all the times and try to plan out my days to make them more productive and such but most of the time that never happens and I'm lucky to get even half the stuff done. Luci has a much higher stakes than some with balancing two different scholarships needed to get her degree and follow her life dream. When the captain makes a rule forbidding partying and dating with the guys team she isn't too upset about it for herself though it clearly hurts everyone else. Still Vanessa is not one you want to mess with or she will make your life miserable. Ryan is happy to be free of Vanessa and her demands on him to fill her life goals in a life he didn't want rubbing elbows with all the big wigs and pushing his passions aside. His only regret aside from taking so long to do it…that it hurt the guys on his team with her new rule.
When Ryan meets Luci he is fascinated by her. Luci is attracted to this sexy soccer player as well but he doesn't fit in her plan and it would not only break the rule but is pretty much the worst way to break it. Still as they get to know one another in a shared class and unplanned encounters things start to smolder. The story is a real slow yet steady burn that is beautifully written. You get to see things from both sides as they come to terms with what they want out of life and each other and what they are willing to risk. I felt like I was right there with them as I anxiously awaited each moment hoping things would work out. This story is full of sexy slow burn that really ignites on the page with these down to earth and lovable characters. The stakes felt real. The story felt real. It was steamy at times but each one was well deserved and so captivating. I loved this story and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a steamy fun read.
After almost having her dream taken away from her Luci is focused on ensuring she has excellent grades and that she performs well for the soccer team where she is the backup goaltender as her partial scholarship depends on it. When the team captain forbids any dating between the women and men’s soccer club she isn’t concerned as she has no interested in dating until she met Ryan.
Ryan is part of the men’s soccer team and he had dated the captain of the women’s soccer team for the last two years until he finally realized that they were way too different. He didn’t see a problem staying away from the women’s soccer team until he met Luci.
They become partners in Spanish class and they know they need to stay away from each other but will they be able to deny their feelings for each other?
I really enjoyed the first book that I have read by this author. It has heat, humor and is so much more than a sports romance.
Im pretty sure im gonna give this a 5 or 4 rating.
BUT I’ve been tired to this luci(heroine) who always push and pull drama with ryan(hero) who is very one understanding hero here.
Too much drama cause luci was always chicken about to vanessa who ex this ryan. 🙄. And afraid to get off her scholarship to that university.
At first im enjoyed there first drama, but its getting tired me to read it.
There is no cheating here cause the hero already broke up to his crazy ex-vanessa. he’s not other male hero who after broke up are going to conquer to word of manwhore.
Even this luci too.. broke up his idiot driver ex who cause her broke bone.
Recomendada, si quieres leer algo rápido y liviano.
Love Sports Romance books, although this is the first soccer related sports romance book I have read. It was such a cute book to read, I really loved Sarah's writing style. Ryan was not in Luci's plan for college and soccer but he somehow wiggled his way in. Of course Ryan was my favorite character in this book, his and Luci's connection was instant. He admired her love for soccer, and seeing what life was really about. I really hope Sarah Nego plans to write more in this series as I loved the characters, even the friends of Luci and Ryan and wouldnt mind seeing some of their stories as well.
Goal Keeper is one hot novel! The perfect mix of romance and soccer, Goal Keeper kept me wanting more. Add in a jealous ex and some forbidden fruit? You havethe perfect recipe for a story.
The plot of this book is great. The women's soccer team is unofficially forbidden to fraternize with the men's soccer team. The problem with that is theyare so intertwined with each other. What makes something when more appealing? Being toldyou can't have it. I loved this plot.
The characters in this story are so dynamic. Luci is a little crazy, but very endearing. I love how relatable she is to myself. Not all people were serious in college so I love that the author wrote Luci this way. Ryan was amazing as well. At first I was worried I shouldn't like him, but after the first chapter from him, I knew I was in love. He is cute and slightly clueless and I love that about him. He is also sweet and considerate.
The hear in this book burns bright. These two characters have chemistry from the very beginning. The question is whether the heat is real or not. I loved this part of the book.
I really enjoyed this authors writing style. The pace was steady and there was just enough conflict to keep it interesting without being overwhelming. The characters were also very funny. I laughed more times than I can count throughout this book.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I wish I could reread it again with fresh eyes. I was shocked in and devoured it in one sitting. I would recommend this book to others and would love to have another story in this world.
WOW! I absolutely LOVED Sarah Nego's talented writing style that shined through this story so much that I couldn't help but read Goal Keeper in one sitting! Luci is finally part of a college soccer team when she's told that she cannot fraternize with the men's soccer team. She's so happy to be free that she couldn't care less until she meets Ryan. Ryan is on the men's team, and has just gone through a breakup, so he's okay not dating anyone from the women's team, until he meets Luci. And that's all the I'm going to give up. As you can see, there is all kinds of forbidden written on this sweet sports romance with a side of spicy, so there will be some push & pull. Luci & Ryan had chemistry but it was a slow burn because of the unofficial ban put on Luci by the captain, so there was some frustration. And when they finally couldn't hold out anymore, that's when the edge of my seat took over, as I waited for that other shoe to drop. Which lead to the twists that had the f-bombs dropping. Yeah this story had it all for me. Heat, a ton of humor which kept me laughing a lot, jealous ex drama, super sweetness, a cast of secondaries that added more to the story, and of course the whole sports aspect which I couldn't get enough of! I hope that Ms. Nego keeps writing with this cast because it was AWESOME, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Goal Keeper is a romance story about Luci Ryder, an incoming Freshman at Pearson University. She lives by a color-coded schedule that doesn’t allow any distractions to keep up on her soccer and academic scholarships. Enter Ryan VanKamp, a hot, forbidden soccer player. Instant chemistry between these two characters. Sarah doesn’t write overpowered sex crazed scenes, but she, like any good lover should, preheats the oven with teasers and small, sparked interactions between the two lead characters. The two have genuine concern for each other that makes the romance even hotter, consensual. Of course, when things go wrong, and when don’t they, that chemistry makes the downer emotions even more deep. A reader can genuinely feel for these characters and their plight. The best part of this was it didn’t feel like a supersized porno novel. It was tasteful but still steamy. This is one novel that I found myself actually confused on who I was rooting for as she writes in both Luci and Ryan’s POV in each chapter. I think this combination makes the entire book a compelling and great read. Perfect for the summer days of sitting out in the sun.
This book was so great! I loved it! Light, quick read and a plus, a soccer book!! Those are some of my favorite reads!!
I believe this is Sarah Nego’s NA debut and she scored a goal with this one!!
Luci is a freshman at Pearson College. She’s the only freshman and goal keeper. She’s on academic and athletic scholarships, so she has her entire year scheduled down to the minute.
Ryan is a junior on the men’s soccer team. Business major with a passion for photography. He recently broke up with Vanessa, who just so happens to be he captain of the women’s soccer team and a royal b*tch.
It was so great to read about a college athlete that wasn’t a man whore that slept his way through the college. Ryan was genuinely nice guy and likable character through the entire book. Luci, while a little neurotic, was great too.
Goal Keeper is listed as A Pearson Players novel, so I really hope that means we get more books!! I would like to read about Ryan’s friends Crash and Scooter.
THE STORY ---------- Luci has a partial scholarship for playing soccer at University as goalie. So her day is stricly scheduled with learning and training and she has no time and therefore no real problem with the new rules of the soccer team captain: "No dates with the men`s soccer team." But then she meets Ryan VanKamp, and he`s not only a member of the men`s soccer team, he`s also her captain`s ex boyfriend.
MY OPINION ----------- It was a nice, a bit too constructed sports romance university story. I think at university level girls shoudn`t let one girl be so mean to all of them. They should stood up all together, especially when one of them is in a serious relationship with one of the boys. I didn`t like how the book turned to intense on the erotic side, it got a bit lame and the big problem was so easily solved then. But overall it was nice, but I`ve read better ones, and because some parts were a bit boring, I`ll give it
A wonderful story, I couldn’t put it down. The enjoyable read has Ryan and Luci, they were made for each other. Luci points out Ryan has chosen a path his ex wanted for him, while her private life is being controlled by her and blackmailed. This was a warm, romantic read, with a slow burn. The young lovers are college soccer players, a male and female team. It’s a heartwarming read with the ex making trouble for the sweet characters Ryan and Luci. Nicely written and a definite must read if you love gentle, romantic, love stories.
Loved this sweet romantic story. Young love, soccer, and big dreams. It was a great combination. I read it in one sitting. It was an easy and enjoyable read. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a adorable, heartwarming, weekend read to relax with. Ryan and Luci will steal your heart. I want more books involving these two beautiful souls.
A sweet, well-written sports romance that shows life can derail even the best laid plans, for the better in this case. I loved the chemistry between Luci and Ryan and the supporting characters were just as fun and likeable. It was inspiring and I loved the message of finding your passion and pursuing it. I hope there will be more books following the other characters.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book. What a sweet college romance between a planner and someone who needed a push! If you like reading about young love with a HEA then you will like this book. It is well written with relatable characters.
Luci is a planner and has everything in a neat, color coded calendar. While Ryan is flying by the seat of his pants. But when the 2 get together, sparks fly and color coding rubs off on Ryan. This was a sweet and innocent love story and finding out what you truly deserve and go after it.

I was so looking forward to reading this book and I was a little disappointed. I cannot understand how one person could control so many other lives for 3/4 of the book.
Ryan and Luci are a cute couple and I'm glad they found their HEA.
Sweet Young Love story. Straight forward with little drama. I love that Luci is the strong one of the couple! So often college women are portrayed as needy and helpless!

I enjoyed reading Goal Keeper a lot more than expected. It’s lovely and sweet story of soccer, college life and falling in love.
Luci got partial scholarship to Pearson University, she is new goalie and studies Graphic design. In order to keep her scholarships, she has to keep up her grades and play soccer. Her entire life is carefully planned out and she has no room for distractions.
Her captain issues new rule after loosing her boyfriend, that no player is to date or party with male soccer players. Ryan plays for the male time is finally free from controlling ex-girlfriend. He sets his eyes on Luci and nothing will stop him.
I love reading about collage life, it took me back in time :). I love how hardworking was Luci. One of my favourite characters was Erin, her roommate. I like reading about their friendship. And the romance... it's definitely swoon worthy. :))) What bothered me, was constant presence of Vanessa, I wanted to kick her ass by the end of the book. :)
What a great new adult debut! I breezed right through this one, enjoying all the laughs and swoons. Luci and Ryan were wonderful. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
