Inspired by nature and the beauty around him Gary W. Burns started writing poetry at a young age. Early on Gary was able to express his thoughts, ideas and emotions through the vivid imagery of his verse. His poetry has been published in various literary arts journals, anthologies and magazines. He is the author of 10 books of poetry. Through his poems Gary shares his reflections on the many facets of life and on the beauty of nature. The expressiveness of his poetry has been enriched by his wide reading in philosophy and psychology. He has traveled throughout the world and has lived in numerous countries, to include, Italy, Korea, Saudi Arabia and Canada. He has also lived in Hawaii and several other states. Currently, Gary makes his home in Northern Virginia near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Moments: This to the Next is a compilation of poetry written by Gary W. Burns, an author inspired by nature and beauty. I adored this book since it gave me great comfort and peace in a chaotic world that is articulated and healed in these writings. Another thing I loved about this piece of work is that it is organized in a really interesting way; there is plenty of white spaces on the pages which is amazing for people that love taking notes and circle words. Through his poems the author shares his reflections and thoughts about life, environment and loveliness of things. He traveled around the world and visited numerous countries and cities, this gave him background knowledge and experience to write this masterpiece which is sweet and genuine. I found myself smiling, laughing, and tearing up as I read. The vast majority of the poems were pleasant and relatable, but there were some flashes of true genius in Gary's descriptions that left me speechless. I highly recommend to read Moments.
I received a free digital copy of this collection through a giveaway hosted on GoodReads.
Gary Burns' Moments: This to the Next is a lovely examination of life and love through the eye of nature and the passage of time. Short but satisfying, each poem feels as if it goes straight to your heart, telling you exactly what it wants you to know without any superfluous detail. This is not, however, to say that they lack in imagery, as quite a few of them paint vivid pictures in your mind, and I bookmarked quite a few to be used as inspiration for drawings and paintings in the future. However, if you are someone who enjoys poetry but finds the flowery language employed by other poets tiring, then this collection (as well as Burns' other collections, I imagine) will likely be perfect for you. This is his tenth collection, and it really shows, as he exhibits a noticeable skill in getting his point across with truly beautiful and meaning-filled language.
“Moments: This to the Next - Poetry - Now and Eternity” was written by the multi-award winning poet Gary W. Burns, who was inspired by time and nature.
This motivating book of poetry is organized in four chapters and it has a very attractive aesthetics as readers can find different illustrations of the main topic: the concept of ‘Now and Eternity’. This concept of time is covered through all the contemplative poems within those chapters.
The author´s verses are clean and expressive, which makes the poems understandable for the aimed readers, and also really calming. All in all, this book is a tool for meditation and healing, and really useful for those looking for harmony and serenity in their lives.
I earnestly invite you to get your own pleasure from all the poems. Reading these verses is a mindful trip that you will never forget, as it will offer peacefulness, reflection and balance to your life.
Gury W. Burns has used his love for nature and the beauty around him as an inspiration to pen this amazing collection of poems which turned out to be the winner of the 2019 Readers' Favorite Poetry Award.
Burns knows what the world is about; he has travelled a lot and was able to use features of nature and its beauty to his benefit and those of readers.
This set of poems of only 96 pages come in handy since it is perfect to have on your bedside table or to take with you when you travel or just to open it up every time you feel the weight of the world is on your shoulders. After reading these poems, you would feel they have been meditating.
I absolutely recommend it to any type of readers, whether adults or not. I believe this book is a gem and these poems would definitely touch your soul. Don’t miss it!.
I can’t explain how much I love poetry books! So when I found one, I can’t stop reading it. It is the case of this amusing and wonderful piece of art: “Moments: This to the Next: Poetry - Now and Eternity” which was written by Gary W. Burns.
This book is perfect to enjoy with tranquil soft music, a cup of tea and a comfortable chair. It is an easy and enjoyable reading. The narrative structure is so simple that I could read it in two sittings. Each poem is beautifully written.
All in all, if I were to make one criticism of the book, it would be that it hasn’t got more poems because it is amazing down to the last page. It made me feel peace in my mind and in my heart. I would gladly recommend you all, no matter what age you are, to read it. It is certainly at the top of my list. Don’t miss it.
Moments: This to the Next: Poetry - Now and Eternity is a beautiful book of poetry. It is meditative, contemplative, thought-provoking, emotional, raw, real, and an overall enjoyable book of poetry. I am always struck by how expressive good poetry can be and this book did not disappoint.
It is not a book in the inspirational category, but it is meditative and healing in the way it talks about the world, relationships, and people. Poetry can speak volumes in just a few short words and a few short lines in ways that other literature just can’t. The picture painted by these poems is poignant and something I believe I will be thinking about for a long time to come. Very enjoyable!
Moments: This to the Next by Gary W. Burns is an encouraging and uplifting collection of poems meant to reflect upon. Each poem is short and mellow. The meaning behind most of the poems is vague, allowing the reader to draw their own conclusion.
I am not a student of rhyme and reason, but Moments: This to the Next made sense to me. Gary W. Burns keeps his poems simple. I love that after reading each one I felt inspired, more like edified and nurtured by nature, love, and wholesome beliefs. One Love was my favorite poem, though Mt. Kumjong created visual images.
Nice, quick read. Short poems and a nice book to pick up for a few minutes of distraction/enjoyment of the moment. I've also read his Garden Poetry book and this one was less nature focused but still enjoyable.
The prevailing theme of the many poems in this book is wellness, your well-being and harmony. They invite the reader to set aside your stress and accept the harmony within and without through meditation and contemplation of the poem’s meanings. Broken into four sections: A point called time, Moments to hours, Clocks and Faces, and Time- And you and me, we get a variety of beautifully written poems that range from a few sentences, to a few pages. The briefness of the poems was what I liked best about this book. I find if I have something short to repeat and ruminate upon, I do better in my meditations, so these poems are a welcome addition to my meditation techniques. I think that most people can make use of this book, quiet reflection is good for the soul and the gentle tone of this book will certainly help with that.
