It is the first day of school and Little Bear thinks school will be wonderful--but only if Mama stays with him. Young children looking forward to their first day at kindergarten will understand how Little Bear feels, and will be encouraged when they see that by the end of the day Little Bear is having so much fun he doesn't want to leave!

I like this book because it was about a bear who had a mom who he did not want to leave until she needed to leave to go shopping, and then he had a little bit of a tantrum, saying, "Mommy, I want you to stay here," but there wasn't a whole tantrum about that, or maybe there was a whole tantrum.
My children absolutely adore this book. Reading literature is so important to the development of a child's mind, and I cannot think of thing I would rather do then sit down to read to them in the evenings. Imagination and growth are so vital in those so young.
Sadly the illustrations are bad enough to actually be a bit disturbing, and having the mother bear stay for most of the first day of kindergarten is not going to be helpful for the audience.
