Alexis stared at the photo of her deceased parents. She missed them so much. Paige, who shared the crappy hotel room with her friend, would be happy to go home. Both of them were flight attendants with some vacation time. Alexis was eager to start her getaway to Mountain Lake, Minnesota, one of the random prizes the airline gave away each month that she had won.
Alexis went on the guided group tour on the mountain paths, but she left her belongings on a bench at the previous cavern site and wanted the group to turn around and go back. Because they were so far along and a bad storm was coming, the guide told her they could not. Also the trail was too complex for her to try to go back by herself. Needless to say, she dropped to the back of the group and let them get out of sight. As she turned to go back alone, the wind picked up, it started to get dark, and she shivered with the cold. She spotted an unlocked trap door on the side of a hill and climbed down in the darkness. She fell and her hand touched a flashlight someone had left there. But when she turned it on, she saw the room had rows and rows of weapons – handguns, pistols, semi-automatics, knives – lining the walls!
Alexis ran in panic and fell into a ditch in the blinding rain as it began to quickly fill with rainwater until she could no longer breathe. Fortunately, Erik had seen her run from his cellar storage area. He relocked the door and he followed her, wondering if she had been sent to find him – he had enemies he did not want to locate where he was now! He found her in the ditch, administered CPR, and carried her to his nearby cabin. But now what would he do? He didn’t know her reason for snooping. She might reveal what the cellar contained! He had to keep his identity secret.
This book, although well written, was very annoying to me because Alexis seemed “dumber than dirt”! Her actions made no sense, and were in fact very foolish, showing absolutely not a bit of common sense. One of the things I look for in character development is believability and credibility, despite external circumstances. I didn’t find that here. The story line was okay but there was little depth to it, especially the relationship that was supposed to be developing between the main characters. If you like a quick, easy read, then this is probably acceptable. It just wasn’t a good choice for me this time.

The heroine, Alexis Mancini, is an airline attendant who has won a week long vacation at a resort in Arrow Lake Montana and who is on the run because she witnessed the Italian Mafia execute a hit on her mother and Italian Father due to his indebtedness to the Mafia. The hero, Erick, a self imposed retired hitman, is living the reclusive leisurely life of a woodsman. Erick's and Alexis' paths intersect when Alexis gets lost and is found by Erick near his mountain cabin. They share an immediate and intense attraction and within a day or 2, Erick is performing consensual and instigated cunnilingus on Alexis; this leads to a deal being stuck where Erick kills the Mafia hitman who killed her parents in exchange for her giving him her virginity. In the end, they marry and build a huge modern log cabin estate on that mountain for their family. KUB #33.

Fantastic quick read - with tension, incredible actual character development (considering it is a shorter story) and a guaranteed HEA.
REad through all four books in this series in one weekend - they were THAT good! The characters are all individual and have a unique story that brings them together and this as the first just begins to introduce this amazing and beautiful area and community.

Now following this author, these kinds of reasonably quick yet unique reads are exactly what I need after a long day at work - hoping for many more to come!

I absolutely enjoy reading Ambrielle Kirk and I’m so happy that I discovered her books because she is one of my favorite one click authors. I absolutely adored reading Abducted by the Mountain Man. I knew that this would be a awesome treat so I settled into my favorite chair to read Abducted by the Mountain Man.
The story is so fabulous, this book focuses on the sexy hunk Erik and the lovely Alexis Mancini. Erik is now a loner after being a contract killer for eighteen years. For years, he spent his life pulling the trigger for cold, hard cash, but he has let all that behind him. Alexis Mancini is a flight attendant that is on vacation. I enjoyed Alexis character – she is witty with lovely curves, but Erik can tell she is hiding something. Ambrielle Kirk creates such an intriguing world and manages to create her own unique mixture of real versus fantasy story. The background story is full of fearless conflict and romance. I really enjoyed the inner dialogue of the characters.I really enjoyed reading how their relationship develops. From the beginning with all of the descriptions of Arrow Lake, Minnesota , who could blame Alexis and reading some of the descriptions will make you need and want a fan or two plus it will make you want to take a cold shower. This story is full of surprises to me that I give this book five stars and it's on this list because I am enjoying the chemistry between these two. I enjoyed the sexy, the alpha hero that would do anything for his beloved. I adored the bond between Alexis and Erik. What a Great story and a hot read and I highly recommend it as a must read.

This is the story of Erick and Alexis. She has secrets and sadness of her own whilst trying to get on with her life. She is an air stewardess who wins a trip to the mountains for a few days and she feels that she needs the break. It is whilst she is out walking that a storm blows up and she panics when she sees into a cellar! In shock she runs and falls into a ditch that is filling with water. This is when she meets Eric, ex hitman who also has secrets! one thing is for certain - he wants her! But does she wants him? What will she do when he abducts her?? This is the first book that I've read by Ambrielle Kirk but it won't be the last as it is well written and has a great plot and interesting characters with plenty of heat! have your fans/air con set to max cool! Alexis it's an airline stewardess who's life since she was seventeen had been on the run. She's running from the man who killed her parents. She wins a trip at work that takes her to the mountains. She loses her bag while on a tour and leaves the group to go find it. She gets lost and caught by a bad storm. She finds Erik or rather he finds her. They have a few ups and downs but she finally leaves him to return home. While waiting for the cab to take her back to her life, she realizes that she loves Erik and doesn't want to leave him, so she goes back. Naturally, they get their HEA.

Ys love redeemable even if you feel your soul is black? YES! In this thrilling novel you have a mountain man with a questionable past. A past so black he feels that his world deserves to be cloaked in darkness and loneliness. Until he meets an unexpected woman. He felt she was there ro rip apart his own privately built isolation.This novel will make you laugh and sweep you away with the thrilling chase of love and the power to move forward. It is definitely the novel to read. Highly recommended!

A quick read about an obsessive man who finds a woman into the woods and takes her home. The story is fast paced and hints at what can happen when someone is left out in the wilderness by themselves too long. Ha ha. Assumptions are made, possibly with good reason but the chemistry between the two characters is pretty quick and intense. The thing that might have made this better was a tie-in between the two characters and their past. It was a bit obvious where the book was headed and a subtle interconnection would have been mind blowing. As it was, the book was okay.

In Ambrielle Kirk's Abducted by the Mountain Man an interracial novel (2018). I happened along this story by pure luck looking for something else new to read rather than doing a re-read of a favorite book. A good read of man meets the woman of his dreams unexpectantly. He is a retired contract killer who changed professions by becoming a bit of a recluse living off the land.
The waters get a little muddy when she finds out what he used to do for a living and offers him a payment that he could not refuse. Can Alexis walk away with from her mountain man with her hear enacted?

The blurb presents an interesting plot; the couple has a great connection. However, I feel that it needed more action scenes between the hero and the villain.

This is a great story that I just knew what was going to happen, but I was wrong. Just because I read so much that doesn't happen often and when it does, I'm super excited. I've mostly read Ms. Kirk's paranormal romance stories and like them. I wasn't sure what to expect with a contemporary romance, but suffice it to say I'm happy. I recommend reading this one for sure! I know I for one will be reading more of her books!

Alexis wins a vacation to a B&B at Arrow lake and while there she leaves her purse on the porch and walks away form the main tour group into the mountains and ends up lost suprise suprise. She ends up being saved by Erik when a freak storm hits and she almost died. He thinks she is there to spy on him. Read th find out how these two work it all out.

Enjoyable Read
The story was enjoyable but from the blurb promised more than it delivered. I liked both characters but considering Erik was an assassin, there was nothing tough or ruthless about him except his voice in the blurb. Though there was plenty of hot sex, there was little else but an HEA . I have read better works by Ms. Monroe. Your Caedmon wolf series was extremely entertaining. I will continue to read more of your stories.

Wonderful love story
I loved how the story that brings two lonely people together. Each is either running or hiding from things in their past. There was only one thing that bothered me, and that was how so much of the story was dedicated to sexual activities. I don't mind a little in a story. I realize that in today's world it sells more. But for me I think that I would have liked a little more left to my imagination.

Meh. Just meh
Intruiging story and im a sucker for stories with female leadd with my name or similar. But the pacing was just weird and didnt deliver. Couldnt reallt get into it. And both leads personalities didnt shine through at the start so when they switched so suddenly amd drasticly it didnt make sense. Eh.
Borrowed from KU free. Would not buy. No interest in checking out this author again.

A beautiful sexy story!
This is a beautiful, fast read, with so much sexiness and love that you can't help but fall into the story. Alexis and Erik are perfect for each other and the story is written so well that we know it before they do, but their journey is so good that you keep reading anyway. It's a great romantic build up with a twist, that you should definitely read!

I enjoyed this book but it was a little hard for me to read. It was sweet but it lost me with the main character being so kind and caring. As a former hitman I would have expected him to be of stronger character and have a little more baackbone.

A well written story with nice storyline and plot. The characters are well described. I did not like that the heroin sounds naive and dumb. She acts a lot of times like she has not clue. He acts often obsessive and that annoyed me. In most stories the characters develop but not in this. It is also missing depth in the story. But a nice read and enjoyable.

I love mountain men and the women who bring them to their knees. Erik and Alexis were just right for each other- with their dark secrets and guarded pasts but together they were able to move into a brighter future. Their story was really good! I’ll be reading the Kept By the Woodsman soon!

Alexis who won a trip wanders from her group and ends up being rescued by Erik who thinks she's a spy looking for him. Quick chemistry and some steam. This is a quick read but the story line was a little lacking in coming together for me. I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received.

A Virgins Romance for the Hitman
Loved the cover, loved everything about this book except the title. There was a bit of everything; drama, fear, sex, more drama, acceptance and love. A good well rounded romantic story.
Loved the cover, loved everything about this book except the title. There was a bit of everything; drama, fear, sex, more drama, acceptance and love. A good well rounded romantic story.
