Her High School Reunion Unleashed a Killer...

Someone wanted FBI special agent Laurel Gillespie dead. And with good reason. Her not-so-discreet investigating into the decade-old suicide of a high school classmate indicated it may have been murder. Now the killer was determined to stop Laurel from discovering the truth.

Police Chief Cade Dupree resented Laurel's invasion on his turf. Not only did she stir up trouble in his town, she also stirred up feelings inside him. But when a madman targeted Laurel, Cade vowed to protect her at all costs. Could they learn to trust each other in time to outwit a cold-blooded murderer?

Somebody wants Laurel Giuseppe dead and it's because she is investigating a supposed suicide that happened during her high school prom. The sheriff of the town and her high school crush Cade Dupree is not very happy about her stepping on his turf when an act of violence happens too close to home for Laurel. They have to find a way to go through their pasts and work together which is very difficult with their intense attraction to each other.

So, this book wasn't bad and held my interest but it also wasn't that great and pretty predictable. I really enjoyed most of the story line with the different high school cliques and what not but I really hated the jeaousy that they felt and thought it was normal for love. For some that's a normal but I do not like jealousy. I believe if you can't fully trust someone it's not worth your time and jealousy can get out of hand and people start treating/thinking of each other as possessions. Sorry but not my cup of tea and when there is so much jealousy in a romance it doesn't feel right to me. So I give this book 3 out of 5 stars because I did enjoy the plot for the most part.

This book is a rounded up 3.75 review, this is my first traditionally published read book in two years. What I like is the author, she develops the plot successfully. Are main male character and female main character are well developed and lovable. Cade and laurel’s story make this book worth the read. The balance between character driven narrative and plot driven is harder. Both laurel and Cade work in law enforcement. If you don’t care about traditional published with lack of romantic tropes or subplots found in most indie published book you’ll love this book. The authors a stellar writer that a laurel and Cade being lovable characters made this 3.75 star read rounded up to 4 stars!

3.5 !! Was weird at first, they were extremely horny for each other. Even in the midst of investigating crimes against her childhood bestfriend and other murders ?? But, the mystery/thriller aspect of it was amazing. I loved the investigating and them getting to know each other !! They are very cute together and obsessed with each other. This book is short, and very sweet. It has so much depth to it as well!

What a ridiculous premise of a book, which I devoured in a few hours! Win win!

Really liked this - the unsolved mystery was good, complex enough to make the culprit not immediately obvious, but not so convoluted that it didn't make sense. The length limitations on this series often means at the suspense is not at all suspenseful, or that half the clues are summarized at the end. Not the case for this book. The cool girls are a high school clique who bullied other kids, including Laurel. (Funny that no one recognizes her as an adult - she moved away right after high school.) Now at their 10 year reunion Laurel is back as an FBI agent investigating a suicide of one of their classmates that she believes was a murder. Cade was her secret high school crush and is now the chief of police. As they investigate, additional things happen - two people are killed, others hurt, fires - as the murder tries to cover up past crimes. I really liked that even though Cade wants to protect Laurel, he always remembers that she is trained to take care of herself. And even with the sexual tension between them he doesn't engage in stupid macho displays and she doesn't become a ball-buster - they both respect each other. The HEA isn't final at the end of the book, but it's clear that these two are adults and they'll figure out how to arrange their lives to be together.

Though I really prefer Harlequin Presents overall, this was actually really good. I'll have to read more of this kind. I am definitely intrigued by Intrigue ;)
(OMG I'm so sorry, I know that was the worst pun ever!!!!!)

A very nice romantic/suspense that includes the uncertainties of going back to your hometown for that "high school reunion".
