I've been making up stories for as long as I can remember. When other kids wanted to be doctors, teachers or firemen, I wanted to be a writer. As soon as I could read, I began devouring books. I'd read anything I could get my hands on, but Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" and Nancy Drew mysteries were early favorites. In school, term papers were my favorite homework. While others bemoaned the amount of work involved, I jumped in, burying myself in research and writing the document with care. Still fiction was my first love. After college and a degree in English, I fell into the world of advertising. After many years in corporate America, I went my own way. Working and raising two kids took all my energy and creativity. But when the youngest went off to school, all the stories ideas in my head came to life. Mac Caldwell and Callie Richards landed in my head and refused to leave. So I told their story. What started as one book has become six. Now I greet my characters every morning at six and jump back into their story, enjoying every minute. I'm blessed to be able to work at something I love. More than 70 books later, I'm still up at the crack of dawn, crafting the tales of the people who live in my head while nursing a cup of tea and a few pieces of black licorice.
Disheartened by the complaints of his friends concerning their marriages, Grey sets out to find the perfect wife. Ever since he was young he has wanted to be married and have a family, and has worked his entire adult life toward that goal. He has lived and dated frugally in order to save the money for marriage. I found this a bit atypical of most men, but the author made it believable and made it work for Grey. I had no doubts this is what he wanted and that he was sincere about it.
Then we meet Carrie, who works at an advertising agency as a copywriter. Her career is moving upward, and it is about to move very fast. She takes on a much larger project which happens to put her into contact with Grey. I liked Carrie in general. She’s a young career oriented woman. She is the type of woman who doesn’t mind unbuttoning a couple buttons before a business meeting. To me, this kind of seemed opposite to the type of woman I thought of her as. She seems like an intelligent and independent woman who wouldn’t need to resort to such things. There were some other comments that kind of ruffled the feminist in my feathers, but after a quick reminder to my feminist side that women want to be empowered to choose their future, not have it chosen for them, and her choices were valid and her own.
Sparks and chemistry, fire between them ignites. A business dinner date and then a couple of real dates later, and there is no doubt, they are both in it for the long haul – even if they don’t know that themselves. There are kisses that are deep and sensual, flirting that increases your heart rate. I definitely enjoyed watching the progression of their infatuation into romance and love. The sexual scenes were steamy and sensual.
All in all, I really enjoyed this story. I think Carrie and Grey are perfectly matched for each other. When something happens and they are apart they are miserable without each other. This is going to sound bad, but I really liked that. I liked that there was something that tore this couple apart so that they could realize exactly how they felt about the other person. I liked seeing them miserable because it showed me that they are perfect for each other. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance but doesn’t want something too graphic. The storyline has a nice arc to it and I found the characters enjoyable.
I loved it! That’s the first contemporary romance that enjoyed reading from start to end without a doubt. I spent a great time and I’m still smiling while thinking about it. Grey is a man who knows what he wants. Quite obsessive even sometimes but he wants something durable and I admire that. He had a life and now he is ready for more. With that objective, he doesn’t want to joke about, so he seriously put what he wants on a list and keep true to it. It‘s not so easy to do and I find that admirable. Carrie is strong willed and she also has sacrificed a lot for her dream, she is working like a slave with no social life. However, when she meets Grey she adapts, she doesn’t give up her work but she manages to find time for him. Even if it’s hard, even if people are telling her that‘s not enough, she keeps her engagements, promises etc. I would like to be so courageous. Jenna is funny and so right sometimes, now I dislike Barbara, I understand her but still part of me found the situation unfair.
It’s easy to read and we live the story by Grey’s side. We can see the point of view of Carrie too and I absolutely loved it.
To recommend to all romantic hearts who need hope and happiness
I loved this book. It was so sweet. About a couple that was made for each other. They met and fell in love and the rest of the story was about them getting to know each other. Usually I find stories like that a little boring, but with this one I was dreading anything wrong happening, I loved their companionship. I also LOVED the Thanksgiving scene!! Grey really surprised me.

"The Marriage List (New York Night) by Jean Joachim was a very beautiful romance novel. The novel was of two independent people...Grey and Carrie..both having career goals ahead of family and marriage. With Carrie being a aspiring author...lmeets with a publishing company to have her reviewed and it was how she meets Grey. Would there be a instant attraction between these two people? This is where I say you must pick up this good novel to see what will happen next. I believe you will find the novel entertaining and the characters enjoyable that will keep your interest.
If you are looking for a good quick read... you have come to the right read...for "The Marriage List" you will receive a sweet love story and I would recommend this one to you.
Grey wants 3 things in the woman he will marry. To be smart and talk to him,to much his sexual appetite(the book is not for adults only) and to make a confotable house. He has been saving money for 10 years and decides it's time to settle down. After 3 years searching he finds her.Her name is Carrie and she is everything he wants in a woman.
Finally a book were the main characters have a normal human relationship. They have problems and dilemmas and their relationship is exactly like a normal relationship should go.It didn't have heartache or stupid misunderstandings and that definitely give some points to the book
This is a cute story. I enjoyed Grey and Carrie. Things moved fairly quickly, but I didn't feel it was overly rushed. There were a few editorial issues with this story, but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the story. I will most likely be picking up another one of this author's books in the future.
I always enjoy stories that are told from a predominantly male perspective. It's refreshing, and I wish there were more out there.
Grey is your typical playboy, having no problem with finding a lady to keep him company when he wants it. But seeing his close friends grow up and settle down, the urge to join the ranks of the married is there. Problem is, his buddies have relationship problems that he wants no part of. So, at his sister's suggestion, Grey composes a list of qualities that his ideal partner must have. When the ladies don't make the grade, Grey hits the road.
A chance meeting at a writing conference leads to what could be the ideal relationship for Grey. But the question is, is he looking for a Stepford Wife, or is he looking for true love?
The Marriage List is a read I'd qualify as cozy. If you're looking for high drama and angst, you won't find it here, but if you want a solid romance, The Marriage List will definitely fill the bill.

I don't dare say this was was a "cute" books because I know this author and she will kill me. So. I will instead say, the Marriage list was a light enjoyable read. The characters were likable, the supporting characters, especially Grey's sister Jenna were wonderful. I loved the banter between Grey and Jenna. I thought Carrie Tucker was a great female lead, smart, sassy, and a real go getter, but underneath a little insecure (just like us all) I could really relate to her. The romance progressed at a nice pace, the love scenes were hot, and the chemistry was great between Grey and Carrie. Overall, a wonderful read for a gloomy afternoon that leave you with a smile on your face and a lighter heart. Thank you, Jean. :)
A nice easy read and not what I expected. I thought the marriage list was going to belong to the lead female character!
Grey Andrews is the last of the Horsemen to still be single, and his friends think he is just too picky. In reality he has heard his various friends complain about various traits their wives do or don't have, and from this he has devised "the list" to try and find the perfect wife. As far as he is concerned he just hasn't met "the one". Is that all about to change when he meets Carrie Tucker?
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This book had some good parts and some bad parts. It needed more editing like spelling for one. There were some sections that it seemed like the author was putting in some unnecessary details for a word count or something. It took some time for me to warm up to the plot. It just really felt forced.
One good part was that it was written in a dual POV format. It is nice to see into the character's thoughts to get a better understanding as to actions and/or speech.
Nothing but a sweet romantic read! The Marriage List is a fast paced book with lovable characters. The plot isn't profound and the drama is basically nonexistent however I still enjoyed the story and wasn't put off by lack of up downs and all arounds. If your looking for a fun easy read that simply puts a smile on your face The Marriage List is a must read!
I got this recommendation from Sherri, so I had to check it out. Over all it's had a really nice flow to the story. I did see a few errors, but they didn't distract from the over all story. I will most likly check out other stories written by this author.
Great story. Refreshingly, Cara is a successful, intelligent, and independent woman. She wants Grey rather than needs him. No drama in their pasts and simply a beautiful love story with a bit of steam.
This was an alright quick read. A bit contrived but intriguing enough to have me going on to book 2.
If you are looking for a quick sexy read with no deep drama, and things are tied up in a pretty bow for you at the end, then this is a book I would recommend.
The cutest story ever! I don't think I'd ever really make an actual list for a guy I'd like to marry, cause I'm still young, but this was definitely a great book!
Holy smokes I absolutely loved this story and loved Grey and Carrie .they were so made for each other. The storyline really kept me hooked from page one until the end. Absolutely can't wait for more.
It was good that Grey had his married friends. Since he listened to them complain about their wives, he has a good idea in what to look for in a woman. I thought it was good that he had worked and saved his money so when he did get married, they wouldn’t have financial problems. Carrie is such a hard worker. I don’t know if I could put in as many hours a week as she did. It helped that Grey was used to hard work and long hours so when he started dating Carrie, he understood her hours. I thought it was wrong what her boss did to her in the end. I encourage you to read the book. I received a free copy of the book, and voluntarily wrote a review.

This angsty little story was a sweet roller-coaster. Everyone has a list whether they’ll admit it or not. And I was quite impressed with Grey for defining his so clearly and then sticking to it. He’s another one that’s going on my list for romantic book boyfriends. I loved that Carrie was so independent, though I was a bit distressed over how her fears seemed to keep getting in the way of their relationship. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
The story line was good, the execution not so much. It read a tad choppy, needed in-fill to pack some moments out. Characters seemed superficial . Couldn't t sense any true emotion, although the author highlighted plenty of lust. The whole thing was flat, sorry. Loved the front cover though.
