The conversational style in this book is so readable. It really impresses me, given how the purpose of this book is to help children to improve their reading skills. Author Cynthia Amoroso makes it seem natural, how her carefully designed approach to reading appears to be the easiest kind of book to enjoy. As if reading a book is the most natural thing in the world!
Only it ain't.
Take a look at the words on Page 13. They could have been written by famed prose stylist Ernest Hemingway:
At one o'clock, Oscar phoned me. I came over. Oscar and I went outside. We took a walk to the ocean.
Actually, I like this book better than "A Farewell to Arms."
FIVE STARS to you, Cynthia Amoroso, a minimalist-yet-graceful author.
