Until recently, Dugald A. Steer worked as an author and editor at Templar Publishing. He is the writer behind Candlewick's widely acclaimed New York Times bestsellers, DRAGONOLOGY, THE DRAGONOLOGY HANDBOOK, and EGYPTOLOGY, as well as the forthcoming EGYPTOLOGY HANDBOOK. Dugald has now given up his editorial job to concentrate on writing full-time, especially more books with "ology" in the title. Dugald Steer lives near London and has far less free time than he imagined he would.
A grandparent brought this in to read to the children at a daycare where I work. The book was cute until the page where the male vampire exposes his underwear to the children. I thought the lack-of-pants humor was inappropriate for the setting we were in. Teaching three and four-year-olds about appropriate humor is challenging enough. This book does not help. Yes, it’s just supposed to be silly, but if it set an example to the children to show their underwear for a laugh would it still be funny?
We have had this book since Dallin was little, and we absolutely love it. It was Dallin's favorite and now it is Drew's favorite too! I have to read it to him like 5 times a day. All the other "Snappy Little" books are fantastic too. Best pop-ups ever! I just ordered the Christmas one on Barnes and Noble.com for $5.95 as a bargain book. They will go fast at that price I'm sure so hurry and get yours! Aren't I a great salesperson? They should hire me.
My grandson and I found Snappy Little Halloween in a used bookstore. The pop-ups are large and not scary at all (great for toddlers!) and the text is silly and fun. He loves reading this book.
