On her wedding day, Charlotte de Winter carried a crossbow as she walked a lone dirt road in the middle of a pine forest on a snowy night. She wasn't saying her vows as she had hoped. Instead, she was hunting the monster who killed the man she loved.
But there's only a small window of opportunity to bring Alexander Prescott back from the dead. And breaking a curse isn't easy, especially for a seventeen year old witch who has so many spells left to learn before her knowledge of witchcraft is complete.
Can Charlotte save Alexander from his cruel fate? Or will this monster with the power of death and darkness at his command destroy her magic entirely?

This was such a wonderful, tense, dark, and gripping read.
During this tale we follow Charlotte de Winter as she desperately tries to save the man she loves (and was just about to marry) from a dark and ancient evil.
I absolutely LOVED the character of Charlotte de Winter! She was so strong, brave, determined and extremely easy to like and relate to. Her character really reminded me of the witch from the video game Bayonetta - totally kick-ass and awesome!
The story, although short in length, is completely jam-packed with magic, danger, love, ghosts, family bonds, curses and evil gods. The writing is superb and paints such a vivid picture throughout the whole story. It will definitely keep you absolutely hooked right until the very (intriguing) end!
I honestly cannot wait to see what's going to happen next for Charlotte and to join her on her next adventure!
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
This book was wonderfully atmospheric and a much-deserved finalist in the Open Novella Contest. A fast-paced, evocative read, 'The Spirit Witch' is still alive with enough rich description, world-building, and clever magic to satisfy the hearts of many historical fantasy fans.
Campbell captures the essence of a magic-threaded Romania brilliantly, and weaves the dark mystery of it through the eyes of one determined Charlotte de Winter. Her plight is deeply sympathetic, and her guile and drive make her a worthy protagonist. The pacing of the plot bobs and weaves expertly; I read this book in three sittings and cannot recommend it highly enough!
Charlotte de Winter is a young woman about to marry her lover, but a family curse turns the fiancé into an entity known as the Endless One. I've read a number of young adult novels lately and find most of them of mild interest, but this kept me reading late into the night marveling at how the author navigated fantasy tropes and the demands of world building a series requires. The heroine has a great journey into adulthood that demonstrates the author's knowledge of human development. Plus, she finds ways to make magic fail convincingly until it succeeds late in the novel. I strongly recommend it. Looking forward to book two!
I love books that gives horror, dark, and gothic vibes and this one didn’t disappoint me. It was a gripping story and I quite enjoyed it! I loved Charlotte de Winter! She’s a brave and strong protagonist who’s very much determined to save her loved ones and will not give up till the end. I liked the plot. It was interesting enough to hold your attention throughout. The story starts with a bride holding a crossbow in the middle of a forest at night hunting for the monster who killed her bridegroom Alexander Prescott. It’s a pretty interesting start and then we meet the deadly monster who’s very creepy and cunning but there’s a twist that I didn’t saw coming. She is a seventeen year old witch who doesn’t have any experience with powerful spells but still she’s determined to break the curse and bring back her lover from the dead. There’s not much world building in this book but it’s okay I don’t have any complaints because it’s a short read. The writing was easy to understand. The magic was very interesting. The story felt a little bit dragged at few parts but overall, it was a good read and I might check out the next book.
