After fending off the Adjudicator attack, the Alliance learns that the enemy is preparing a final, exterminating push against the human systems and their allies, the Hroom Empire. To buy time while building their forces, the allies send Captain Jess Tolvern and her sometimes rival, the former pirate Catarina Vargus, in command of a fleet to raid and reconnoiter the aliens’ own home worlds.

They cross the inner frontier into systems torn by novas and black holes to find the aliens, who have hidden themselves in a previously undiscovered system, where they are awakening an ancient machine with the capability of devouring entire starships.

Entertaining space listening 🎶🔰

Another will written paranormal fantasy world 🌎 space opera adventure thriller novel by Michael Wallace (The Alliance Trilogy book 2). The Alliance Aramda is having a bad 👎 time with the enemy battle group. But they are close to defeating the enemy group when a leviathan shows up. It appears to be controlled by the enemy battle group. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of fantasy Sci-Fi space opera adventure thriller novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read books 📚. 2023 👒😉🌙😀

Michael Wallace is one of my favorite authors. Happy reading

Wallace continues to create his epic legacy with the 2nd book in the Alliance Trilogy. This story has now spanned 11 books, this being number 12, and it just keeps getting better. The reason is the incredible Universe he has created to play in, and he continues to develop it with each book, giving it such amazing depth, you can immerse yourself for hours. This is a series that could happily do with a ‘Guide to….’ and would easily do well with the Kindle Worlds platform, where other Authors write stories backfilling stories about aspects of the Universe, there are so many tales to tell, about so many different characters and races.
In the 2nd book, the Alliance has realised that the Adjudicators are a powerful foe, maybe even more powerful than the Apex, and that they have been around since before basically all the races became space faring. Their goal? Remove those they deem unworthy from the Galaxy. To do so, they reclaim planets, decimating the populations, and sending what is left back to the most basic of civilisations, so that they can start from scratch.
Having done this to several Hroom, Human and other species planets, it is clear they mean to eradicate Humanity and the Hroom.
Tolvern and Vargus are sent to scout off several areas with a large force, whilst Drake and McGowan sort out the rest of the fleet, shore up behind the lines and the station rescued in the last battle, as well as move out in a different direction, to meet up with Tolvern later. Meanwhile, they believe they have worked out the disappearing jump point trick, and this could release Dreadnaught and Mos Dryse back to the fight at a key point.
One of the most interesting parts of this book however occurs on this muddy moon, with a bunch of slaves and a Hroom task master, all under the control of the Adjudicators. We are introduced to a Hroom Nils Oolmena, whose control device, (which every slave has, each race is given rudimentary education on who to insert the chips into the slaves head of their own species, then they have to ‘chip’ the brains of their own, hoping it works, leaving gaping wounds with a chunk of electronic chip sticking out the side of your head, oozing and bleeding) The Adjudicators however use it to mask pain, controlling the pleasure centres of the brain. This is why Slaves are so menial, and for 99.9%, they love their masters. However, Nils’ chip was damaged. He can control his chip. He finds another Hroom who can also control her chip as she is a sugar eater. Amazingly, she has been in hibernation for generations, taken and put on ice until needed by the Adjudicators. The Hroom Nils also discovers other species he has never seen before, awoken by the Adjudicators for this task, taken from worlds never heard of. This is the depth of Wallace’s world building – always creating something with such complexity.
And thus they begin to uncover something that has been buried deep within the planet, buried thousands of years ago, before the Hroom existed, something old, something dangerous, and the Adjudicators are going to free it, unleash it on the galaxy.
In the meantime, Tolvern and Vargus and their fleet have multiple battles with the Adjudicator fleets, Star Fortresses and Dragoons, with magnificent space battles that would just be both terrifying and yet beautiful to watch. Wallace’s description of the battles is this amazing ballet of death, as ships manoeuvre and pound each other with cannon, missiles and torpedos.
Wallace is an exceptional author, able to go from epic battle scenes, to gut-wrenching scenes on the ground of slaves dying un-earthing something from Greek Mythology, to multiple bridges and races, each with a different nuance on how they speak, act, look, The Hroom in their Sloops of War, the Scandians in their Star Wolves, like savage Vikings, and yet, not only brave and courageous, but cunning as well, to the Singaporeans, with their cloaking and armour penetrating weaponry. He writes it all so brilliantly.
This time though, the Alliance might have bitten off more than it can chew. Tolvern and Vargus are in for the fight of their lives, can they survive? Will they get the General and the Dreadnaught free? And what is on the planet?
As I said, the series just keeps getting better, it is like all the early books have been leading towards this series, and now, it is time for Humanities greatest test.
If you haven't read this series yet, you have to get into it. It is an absolute must read.

Another author writing epic space battles to grip you

Another author writing epic space battles to grip you. There are characters you know and new ones that you end knowing just as well and want to root for. If you want a good read you will find this another great book to sit with and enjoy a good read.

Alliance Armada (The Alliance Trilogy Book 2) by Michael Wallace

Second book of this trilogy, and also competent military scifi. A good read, and quick paced. Not a lot of character development, but that's not what this series is about. Lots of action, and battles. The evil guys really are, and in some surprising ways. The good guys are good and only slightly manage to draw a stalemate.

Recommend all of Michael 's Military Sci-fi, starting with Starship Blackbeard. That's many books. Really enjoyed them all. I'm waiting for the third book in this current series.

Another popcorn book - sustains both the pros and cons of the first book in the series. A good unchallenging but pacey romp.

A compelling read, but gets a little bogged down in battle after battle at the end.

Alliance Armada continues the war against the Adjudicators, unlike the previous trilogies however, the Alliance quickly gain an advantage over their foes. This book was as fun to read as the rest of the series, and continues to expand the universe its set in a postive way.
