Why is my perfect match the only guy I hate on campus?

When I join the college dating app, I'm expecting to be matched with someone who's my type. Instead, I get the college prankster, Elijah.

He might be good looking, he might even be chivalrous, but that doesn't mean I'm interested.

I think it's a mistake, or maybe one of his pranks.
I keep my distance for a while, but I'm only human.

Mistake is my middle name, especially when it comes to relationships.

And I find myself left with two dramas. Elijah is going to be my stepbrother and is now totally forbidden. Oh, and the other thing is I'm carrying his baby.

This is a standalone novel with a HEA and NO cheating!

Elijah only intends to trick Sophia when he sets up a fake profile on the university’s dating site, but he ends up falling for the girl he didn’t think even liked him.

Even though Elijah’s original intentions with Sophia aren’t admirable, he turned out to be a decent guy. I liked that he was all in for her once they got to know each other. Sophia was okay, but she also annoyed me at a few points with the way she handled things. Sometimes they behaved a bit immature or naïve, and even if the blurb hadn’t mentioned the pregnancy it certainly wouldn’t have been a surprise since they don’t use protection or discuss birth control at all. I also totally side-eyed Sophia's worries that she’s going to get in trouble with the university for being pregnant. Geez this isn’t 1950!

Told via Elijah and Sophia’s alternating first person POV, this is fairly light-hearted and easy read. There were some cute moments. I think it had more potential than it delivers. Some parts are a little underdeveloped, their banter fell flat, and their relationship is rushed. The story could also benefit from a good editor. The writing isn’t top quality, and the narrative tends to relate a good deal of unimportant details (like the movie theater they are going to, etc) instead of developing more significant scenes. There are some grammatical mistakes and continuity errors with the days of the week.

Nonetheless, it’s a safe romance with no OW/OM drama.

Safety Recap:

I purchased this as an Amazon freebie.

Elijah has angelic looks, comes from a rich family and is a famous hockey player in College. Our heroine is the sassy and stubborn Sophia who hates his guts and never hides it whenever they meet.

Elijah comes up with a plan to get back at her for her humiliating him in front of others and that is to pretend being a prince charming through online chatting. But this backfires on him when he falls in love with her, and it doesn`t get better when Elijah and Sophia finds out that theír parents have married each other.

My first read by Stephanie Brother, and it wasn`t bad. I liked it for its humor and development, though it could have been done better. Sophia`s opinions and actions didn`t make sense at all to me. If i had met her in real life i would have thought her stupid, but the hero Elijah has so much character and such a compelling aura that he made up for it (and he knew exactly how to pleasure his girl, hehe). And i also liked his close buddy Logan, he was fun!

Unfortunately fell short

Sadly this did not meet my expectations. From the description and the way the beginning of the book was set up I thought it’d be a cute, quirky book filled with hilarious comebacks from the main characters. But started to drag 1/3 way through and I didn’t connect to the characters at all.
Plenty of potential but fell short.

It could’ve been better...
This story had so much potencial to be breathtaking but it just wasn’t... somewhere down the middle it just became boring and weird and lacking that college excitement.
It was not a great book for me but I believe it had so much potencial on being awesome, but it just wasn’t (for me!).

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy of this book

This is short, fast based book. I expected something more because of blurb. Blurb was very promising, but after few chapters the story started to feel forced. I expected more chemistry and bickering between the main characters.

Story is told both Sophias and Elijahs POV. That was a plus. I didn't like their friends. All these things that happened and how main chatacters reacted to them didn't feel right.

This is some kind enemys to lovers -romance with HAE.

Two stars for story, third star for the names Elijah and Sophia.

This was a pretty quick and light read, but there were just one too many things wrong with this story. The writing seriously needed an editor, there were inconsistencies like the hero's non-existent brother, only mentioned here and there but had no role or existence whatsoever, and the heroine's Dad who either had died or had left her and her mom (which was it, geez). Most of the characters were unlikable, especially all the douchebag "friends" who only mooched off or did dirty to the main leads. Elijah (our hero) wasn't too bad, except he never used a condom any time he was with Sophia (our heroine), and they never ever had any discussion about that at any point, which was plain dumb on both their parts. Accidental pregnancy? Yep, totally saw that one coming. Elijah also let his so-called friends, especially the detestable Logan, take advantage of him his wallet one too many times, and never really called them out on that bs.

At first, I sympathized with Sophia as a character since I could understand her social anxiety and her issues with her "friend"/roomie, Dana (another unlikable), but she got increasingly unlikable as the story developed. I could not understand what Elijah ever saw in her. She was judgmental, petty, and immature. I never once got a feeling that she actually liked him or reciprocated his feelings. Their relationship felt shallow at best, and they barely even knew each other even after weeks of dating already. She didn't even know his class schedule, for goodness sake.

Then there was the non-drama with their parents suddenly getting married, and the two of them suddenly becoming step-siblings. It wasn't even an issue since the parents were just too conveniently accommodating and understanding, but of course it was such an issue for the two leads that they spent most of the end playing a petty game of ignoring each other, which really didn't solve anything. And what about the brother in all this? He wasn't even mentioned again.

Of course, everything works out in the end, but this one certainly didn't work for me. Did I also mention that "friendship" is overrated in this?

Not a Favorite, but I Don't Regret It

I enjoy reading Stephanie Brother's work, so much so I grab all the newer books that come out as soon as I get an email. I prefer step-brother romances to occur with already established step siblings, not a relationship set up prior to their parents coming out with a surprise marriage. This one was a somewhat bulky romance that would have been Vetter without the step brother drama. To be frank, it felt like an additive just to make it a step brother in the last minute.

It's still a good read though.

Where to start!?!

Okay, so it's been awhile since I read a Stephanie Brother book because they all blurred together and became the same story at some point. I have to say this one wasn't much different.

I was disappointed with inconsistencies in the storyline. I mean a 10 year old brother who only exists when it works for the conversation but not when the parents are moving. Did they just leave him at the other house? Not to mention he didn't exist in the beginning of the story...

Not only was I frustrated by the inconsistency but by the general disregard. Let's be real, he's a hockey playing playboy and he never uses a condom!?! I would be more worried about STIs than pregnancy.

It just felt contrived. I know it's a book but the flow wasn't there. It was probably my last attempt to read this author.

I was upset by the lack of proofreading. I was annoyed by the extra chapters at the back of the book. I know, I know. It's not what you think. The extra chapters and intro to another Stephanie Brother story is fine...usually. in this case, the book ends at 78% and the introduction to another story...is the beginning of this book. YES, its chapters of this very book thrown in the back to notice you to buy or read it. Really!?!

I feel like there was no care or attention to detail in this book. Including the name...The title has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with this story, they never even sext! Jot that that is an issue but why make it a focal point if it doesn't exist in the book. Sigh.

The premise, like most of her books, is intriguing to a stepbrother romance lover luke myself. However, the actual words on the page fail to capture my intrigue.

What a great steamy hot read about forbidden love.........So this was a free ARC copy from one of my favorite authors and booksprout for my voluntary honest review of this read and once I started I couldn't put it down til I finished it, that how great of a steamy hot read I thought it was. I really look forward to reading this authors book , because they are always soooo steamy hot, you just have to keep reading to find out what happens. And for me thats a great read! This one has a great storyline and great characters to read about.*Spoilers Tag-a young college girl and the young hockey player , she doesn't like cause he plays hockey and is a prankster to boot, But he likes her at first sight, even if she's always arguing with him over something. After getting into her computer with the help of his buddy and her roommate, he sets up profile on a dating app , that she has one to.And at first it was to prank her but it turns into more, and they end up falling in love with out even knowing it and not saying it to each other, But it doesn't help when their parents get married, know they are step siblings. But they also have one other big problem to.*So if you want more then you need to get this story, cause it's a really great story.

Elijah and Sophia don't get along. Since her room mate started dating his its made her life uncomfortable because they are always in her room. One night they see that she didn't close her computer and call Elijah over to hack into it to find some dirt to use against her. The only the he found besides homework assignments was where she set up a dating profile online. He was planning to trick her but as they talked and he got to know her he started having doubts. So when they were to meet he couldn't because he was stuck at practice. Upset she goes back to her room and her room mate tries to cheer her up. Elijah couldn't let it go and ends up telling her that its him she was talking to. Things heat up between them and it looks like everything is going to be ok until they both get calls from their parents. They arrive and learn that they are now step-siblings. What does this mean about their relationship? Will their parent still get married?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

Did not do it for me with this story

Forbidden Sext is the first book in the Accidental Stepbrother series by Stephanie Brother. It is also the first book I have read by this already established author. I was not sure what to expect but the book description piqued my interest enough to grab a copy to read. The premise was all tee'd up for this story to be a knock out but for some reason it was not. Instead it was a bit lack-lustre for me and did not end up grabbing my interest and holding it. What was supposed to be a taboo romance just ended up not having the excitement and thrill that it should have or could have I thought. Plus there were a number of inconsistencies in the story details and some easily spotted proofreading errors, both of which drive me nuts and make reading a book less enjoyable.
So for a first read by this author I am not really overly impressed. But I will read another book or two by this author as I don't usually bench a "new to me" author on the first read.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Another good story by Stephanie Brothers

I have read several books by this author and liked them all. You can connect to the characters and the events taking place.
Overview. Elijah and his friend Logan were. At his girlfriends dorm. Elijah was glad the roommate wasn't there since Sophia didn't like him for some reason. So Elijah decided to hack Sophia's computer and discover what makes Sophia tick. She was beautiful, shy, smart, and he liked her, even though she didn't like him. Elijah noticed she was on the campus dating site. He copied her profile and created one to match hers. The spent 3 weeks emailing before meeting. Sophia was shocked that Elijah was asking her out. After a few months dating, their parents decide to come for a visit. The shock to them was that their parent knew each other and re- fell in love and got married. Now Elijah and Sophia were step brother and sister while also being in love.

Elijah dislikes Sophia who has taken a dislike to Elijah. Elijah hacks into her computer which she has left open on her desk one day and tries to find something to use against her. He finds that she has joined a college dating site. He uses the information she used on her profile to create a profile that will draw Sophia to him. They eventually meet and a romance begins. Sophia discovers that she is pregnant to Elijah on the day that they find out they are now step-brother and step-sister. A lot of hurt feelings and anger that is misplaced keeps them from each other. Sophia finds out that Elijah hacked into her computer and lied about his profile. Eventually they are able to work things out and end up with a happy ending.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Elijah and Sophia. They are in college together, but when they see each other they tend to argue. Elijah and his roommate Logan like to play tricks on each other, so when Logan mentions a way for Elijah to get even with Sophia, he's game. After digging into get computer he finds a dating website with a profile for Sophia. He copies the info and plans at make her like a electronic version of himself. They reveal several important facts to the other but she doesn't know it's him. When they finally meet, she's stunned that she could fall for an athlete. But boy they get a shock when their parents show up married. Now they are step siblings and dating. Great HEA for both couples.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is a enemies to lovers slash step brother style romance. Sophia and Elijah mix as well as oil and water. Sophia signs up for the college campus dating app in hopes of finding Mr. Right. Elijah sees the app and Sophia's profile in her computer and decides to make his own profile. The dating app makes a match out of them. This is just the beginning of how their lives will become intertwined. Just when you think they may have sorted stuff out the author is ready with another curve ball that will knock them off their high horses. I found the book was entertaining to read.

Another very good read by Stephanie Brother. This was Elijah and Sophia's story. Athlete and shy college student enemies to lovers romance. Elijah knows Sophia hates him but he doesn't know why. So when his buddy Logan dares him to hack into her computer, he gets his chance at revenge. Learning she is on the campus dating site, he decides to trick her into falling for him. Only the joke is on him-he is beginning to have feelings for her. They finally meet and begin a relationship. Then things get real interesting-she's pregnant and they are now step-siblings. And how will Sophia react when Elijah's lies are revealed? Oh boy! Great read!

This book was, I have to say, bittersweet. It somehow reminded us all those silly (or not so silly) mistake we did when we were young; a mistake, when we thought about it again, was much needed for us to outgrow ourselves. And this book was all about that. All those young rookie mistake; the hate we thought we had for someone but turned out to be just petty things; the people who we thought close but then grown apart. All those small things but, then again, much needed for us to grow in our journey to adulthood.

I didn’t love this book but then I didn’t really hate it.
It was a very easy, quick read that unfortunately didn’t grab hold of me.
At first I was enjoying where this was possible leading because I love a good enemies to lovers story, however I found that it just fell very flat.
The characters weren’t given much depth and their pasts were basically non existent so it was very hard to relate or make a connection with them.
I personally believe this storyline could of been taken so much further, which would have validated the plot even more and made it more interesting to read.
I personally won’t be reading this again or reading any other books within this series.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Stephanie has written another story that kept me gripped from start to finish. This story is about Sophie and Elijah who are total opposites but once they start to get to know each other their romance hits if fast. They have a big shock in the middle of the story and makes their relationship hard and makes you want to carry on reading to see what happens. This book is throughly enjoyable and recommend it. solid story

I really liked Elijah and Sofia's story. Although he started their relationship under false pretenses, it becomes abundantly clear that he falls for her fairly quickly and regrets his actions. Too bad he didn't come clean before she found out and too bad they are now step-siblings (which freaks her out) add to all of that, the baby and the turmoil this couple faces is intense. - 1 star for some editing issues but a solid story.

I thought this was a fun story to read. The main characters are Sophia and Elijah who initially don’t get along with each other. When the 2 are starting to like each other, they are then informed by their respective parents that they have gotten married and Sophia and Elijah are now step-brother/sister. There are numerous twists and turns in the story and some surprises. These two have a tumultuous relationship with each other. It’s not an overly long book so pretty a pretty fast fun read.

Could of been better

I love Stephanie Brother. My fo to when I'm looking for something steamy and good.

This was not that. For a short book it was a slow burn. Elina was very likable, Sophia was dull.

Her mom and the pregnancy was annoying. And why mention a little brother if hes not in the book once and in fact it seemed like he was forgotten and abandoned by the parents.

I'd like the hours I spent reading this back. Also, it needs an edit, spelling mistakes and missing words.

Sophia decides it is time to get back on the horse and start dating again by signing up for the college’s dating app. When she is matched with Elijah, she is unsure if she is willing to follow through with her original plan. Adding a twist is the fact that Sophia and Elijah get a complete shock when they realize that their parents are married to each other. If you enjoy reading romance with a steamy storyline and a bit of taboo then this is one for you. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book was entertaining and engaging. A steamy story of a slightly taboo romance between adult stepsiblings. Elijah and Sophia have great chemistry and a attraction that can't be denied. I really enjoyed the connection between these two and their realization that all those sparks aren't dislike and antagonism. A very enjoyable read. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.

This is the story of Elijah and Sophia. I quite enjoyed it and do enjoy a step romance. Elijah initially wants to get revenge on Sophia so hacks her laptop and uncovers a dating app which he joins. Things become complicated when they discover their parents relationship. This was a nice easy read but I didn't like the character of Sophia's roommate and best friend. She doesn't behave in a way a friend should. Other than that it's good.

Forbidden Sext 🤔

I really enjoy a good stepbrother book.. and while I know this trope can be frowned upon, somewhat drives me crazy is a book that's in dire need of a good edit. 🤦‍♀️ With that aside... I adored Elijah. Admittedly Sophia kind of got on my nerves, I liked her and Elijah together. They had plenty of chemistry and the fact that their parents weren't married and they didn't know up together made the book less "taboo" if you will.

Could not put this book dawn! It was amazing. When true feelings are there, you just have to fight for them - no matter what. It stayed with me long after I finished it.
