After a long winter encampment, Orenda, Nazshoni, Kanuna and Onsi cross the Mississippi river and venture west. Their destination is far and Orenda intends to move the small group of warriors with haste in the hope of reaching an embattled tribe far to the west of the great river.
The plan begins to unravel when they come across a ghost village and then dire forebodings from an old Shaman. There is a shape-shifter in the area and she has been causing much destruction and despair. Orenda attempts to go around the troubled area as he feels tomahawks and arrows are no match against magic. But the Deer Woman is already aware of the warriors' presence in her territory.
If you enjoyed The Bitter Harvest, you'll not want to miss the continuing adventures of Orenda and his small group of heroes.
Oliver served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army and studied at MSC. In the late 1980s through mid 90s Oliver pursued his love of music. He enjoyed traveling, playing percussion and writing lyrics for popular bands. During this time Oliver also began writing short stories and articles.
After playing for thousands through the fall and winter of 1996 Oliver's band abruptly disbanded. In early spring of 1997 Oliver along with a good friend who was a guitarist got together with the intention to form a new group. But rather than form a new band the two put together an expedition plan for traveling to Northern Canada and Alaska in order to prospect for gold.
Leaving in April of 1997 Oliver and company traveled up the historic AL-CAN highway. After exploring the Yukon and Northwest territories of Canada as well as the Arctic Circle the team traveled over the Top of the World highway to Alaska.
1999-2000 Oliver traveled through Asia, visiting Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan among other countries.
In 2004 Oliver published his first book and continues to write books, articles and short stories. Currently Oliver and family reside happily in the U.S.
What do you usually do when your favourite author releases another book? You dive into it, but then remember that it was long since you read the first book, so you open that one and reread it to remember all the characters that you already knew and loved. But once i reread the Bitter Harvest, and remembered all the characters, it was time to dive in into the crimson mist, and as usual, Oliver Phipps, didn’t disappoint. I was hooked from the second page! (Leave the first one as i had to reread the first book). I was ready for the adventure, but i wasn’t ready for what came like a tsunami and hit me in the face! The plot, the writing style that i love so much, and the characters, that never disappoint and are always there to give you more than what you expected! Are you ready, to dive into Native American life once again? If yes, grab your gear (cup of tea or coffee, or go for a glass of wine, your choice) and dive in! You’ll be left breathless and excited!
This book was very well written. The attention to detail was refreshing, and the author would describe small mannerisms or facial expressions to bring out the dark and twisted thoughts within the characters’ minds. Mr. Phipps is astonishingly clever! by the way, he introduces his characters. Quite simply, the plot is very good I totally enjoy the destination of this magical world. You should read it, its a very quick read.
Wow! What an wonderful book! I absolutely could not put it down. Into The Crimson Mist, by Oliver.Phipps, was definitely one of those rare instances where my eyes were absolutely, totally and completely riveted to the printed page from beginning to end.
The authors many years of experience truly comes out in his work. All-in-all great read!!!
It has been a long time since I've read a book that I enjoyed so much. I connected with the characters and truly cared about each of them. The book was well-written and the story was excellent.
