An all-time classic board book that Neo likes. Singing, reciting... it does not matter. Fun on any journey!

Just when I had decided that I really love Kate Toms' work this one disappointed me. It wasn't a bad book but it was just another nursery rhyme book. It had a lot of gender stereotypes and the pictures seemed just repeats of ones from her other books.
The children still like it but then they like anything based on recognisable nursery rhyme. I would have liked anything remotely daring about it.

I want to give this book props from doing it different and there's a couple little things I caught in this book I want to call out. (It's not bad but it's a bit of a cheat way of doing it.)
Something I didn't catch on until a couple pages in was that this book was fabric crafted, Using different types of fabric and mediums to give it depth.
It's a very simple/ classic story that's been read, sung, played, and acted for many many years. (Right up there with Little Miss Muffet and Incy Wincy Spider.)
I actually recall the last line on each page being "All through the town" Rather than "All day long. when I was the required reading level of this book.
Do you like the bus and the houses on the cover? I hope so this exact same bus image is on every single page. (Doesn't change at all.)
The house has about 32 individual houses (Excluding back cover.) and two of the houses, (Bown one on the corner of the cover and blue house with the chimney behind the bus both come up six times in the book(Cover included) Interestingly enough (I didn't count this) some of the houses come up more but in different colors.
I have to give it to Kate Toms with this book. Almost everything that happens in this book is organized really well with where they are sitting on the bus. When it references the dogs (fathers) you can see the rabbits behind them as it is on their placement. (Same with the Owls (Grandpas) with the pigs (babies). (It did get off track a little with the horses (Kids) though. (Wouldn't even notice if if you weren't looking. I also love how they used real news paper for the Owls and Dogs to read. (Grandpas and Dads)(Maybe a different article would have been more appropriate for Grandpas though.) From what I gathered it was is a news paper in the UK about a bad accident an construction worker had on site and it was at court at the time. (Ruled by Judge Nicholas Coleman. (No point to this but it's interesting.) and one of the Dads is reading the Horoscope section.
It's really cool how much dimension they added to the newspapers. They way they folded over themselves was done great and looks really cool.
Can I say how much I love the detail that one of the dads is wearing a tie. (I am a big fan of (mostly cartoon) neckties.)
The book is cute the art isn't bad. (pretty good.) (At times the art did seem off like with the chickens but then you remember this artist was working with felt and it makes sense and looks perfect. I don't blame the artist for anything that may look odd to me, sometimes the art supply just looks off because of what is being used in replacement of drawn dimensions.

The kids love this one, but honestly, for me... way too many verses. It takes a long time to get through and by the end my voice kills me. I make the kids sing it most of the time. The artwork is cool though! 3/5 stars.

Oh, the gender stereotypes made me cringe!

The book is based on the song, but adds in some extra verses. The pictures are colorful and looked like they were crafted together. The book features a lot of onomatopoeia.

No one is going to mention the newspaper articles talk about death in a children's book?

I loved the felt artwork of the book. I feel like it could have been a five star book if the verses had been better. Several of them were problematic for me.

The artwork is what have this book 3 stars instead of 2. The craftsmanship is spectacular!

Charlotte loves this book. We read/sing it every day!!! The illustrations are adorable. They are made out of felt and various fabrics.

Loved this book, it basically puts a song; most children are familiar with into a book. Additionally, the illustrations are adorable and unique. I would recommend this book for preschool and up.

I really liked the twist on the original song. The art work was great too! It all made for a very enjoyable book. A great book for beginning readers; especially those who know the song too.
