lots of very compelling lines of thought, she definitely tried to make it approachable without background knowledge of linguistics but I found it pretty overwhelming given that I know nothing about linguistics and am not especially interested in them. I think if I was slightly different I’d love it. hopefully will get more from it on later reads. I love her work and have dreaded this book forever.... don’t think I was necessarily wrong but as always, love her energy
Is a very challenging lecture, specially for a non-linguist, Penelope's analysis really empowers the reader to think beyond the limitations of common/patriarchal gramatics. But if you are not familiarized with very specialized jargon it could be sometimes incomprehensible.
另一个很有趣的概念是CUD(Cosmetic Universe of Discourse),算是Julia对于Robin Lakoff提出的“女性语言”的重新定义。
