What to do when the life you left behind won't leave you alone.
Life in Common with Bastien is every bit as blissful as Rosie hoped. With her family close, and the drama of Avalon far away, Rosie focuses on being the best aunt to Lane’s new baby. She tries to hide her vampire nature as best she can from public view, hoping to avoid any reminders of her time in Avalon.
When Link shows up on her doorstep with an unexpected guest, Rosie realizes that just because she doesn’t need Avalon, doesn’t mean that Avalon doesn’t need her.
"Common Girl" is book eight of a 14-part fantasy romance series.

“Bastien’s blood tasted like…It tasted like happy, In my dream that night, fresh off the bowling win, I dreamt contentedly about sucking down a whole glass of the crimson joy. He was all I wanted and oh, how I wanted. I sipped from a wine glass, looking classy as I downed the scandal in plain sight. Bastien was swimming in the pond out back, giving me a nice view of his tightly toned body. It was such a peaceful dream that when the sky darkened and the deep voice I’d grown to loathe called out for me to “Come”, I scowled.” (pg. 22). What is this voice that has been calling out to Rosie in her dreams for three months? Does it involve magic? Will this new development take Rosie and her family back to Avalon?
Evermore, I will not divulge ANY spoilers, Beautiful Bookworm as I wish for you to relish the Continuing Journey of a new heroine: Ms. Rosie Avalon.
Book eight in the Faîte Falling series begins with a compound in Common with houses for all. Rosie and Bastien; Lane, Reyn and baby Lucas; and Draper. This allows each family to have their privacy yet be close enough to interact. Rosie is back in college working on her veterinary degree with three years to go. Everyone is settling into their new lives in Common and are more relaxed than when they were in Avalon. But will this boring bliss last?
I gave this book five (5) stars as I Unequivocally Cherished this Fantastical French Fable and I passionately counsel you, Dearest Reader to buy this new series.
Common Girl by Mary E. Twomey returns us to Rosie and her blissful life in Common. Now happily married, struggling with her feelings about her vampirism, and enjoying spending time with her adorable new nephew, Rosie has finally found a semblance of peace. A surprise guest brings news of the worlds she left behind. All is not well in the lands of Avalon and Eireland. Monsters unseen in generations roam the land, battling each other, and the humans who would seek to destroy them. Rosie is encouraged to return to the land she left in ruin, but wants only to achieve the small measure of peace she has found. Nightmares of darkness consume her nights, and turn out to be more than what they seem. Rosie feels more lost than ever before, losing parts of herself that seem impossible to imagine. I still adore Rosie, and the realistic character that she is. She is not just a glamorous heroine who can do anything. She struggles like any person would, and grows as she works to improve herself and the world around her. Fans of magical worlds, or real characters facing struggles will love this series.
First let me start by saying this book is best read in order and you won't be sorry. I read book 7 and 8 one right after the other and found that it was much more satisfying in that I didn't have to wait to continue in the mesmerizing saga of the engaging characters in these stories. Rosie remains the likable main character around who this entire series evolves. This book does not disappoint you providing the engagement that you've come to expect with these novels and all the while continue to provide you with the characters that you love to love and love to hate. You will find yourself reacting to situations, speaking out loud at times, and sometimes running to find a tissue...that's how much this story (these stories) embrace you. You will not be disappointed with ANY book in this series and know that they all provide a well developed story, wonderfully developed characters, some heat, some humor and provide the twists and turns you would expect to keep you swiping the pages on your Kindle. The only thing that is disappointing is that this series will come to an end soon. Start this series and binge read NOW.
This series gets better by each book. Just when one chapter ends, a new one begins. The first part of this series focused around Morgan, the evil she was ruling in Avalon. She was the main antagonist but since the higher magic was released you meet does that throw Rosie and her untouchables into a whole new ballpark with a foe even Kerdik is wary of! I love Rosie, every book she is perfect and I love the dynamic she has with her family, Link , Bastien and K. You meet new characters to dislike and love and none too surprising Mary writes characters that you can’t help but like even though you think you shouldn’t. Poor Rosie doesn’t seem to get much down time but Faite is at stake and it’s time to get to work! I can’t wait to see how they will get out of this one.
As always the writing was awesome, but the story felt a bit rushed. One book for the Commons just didn't seem to be enough. There was a lot of goodness, yet glossed over at the same time. The other books felt more like a meal, this one was more like a burp to make room for the next course. It honestly felt like it was a novella between books 7 & 9 to me. I really was wanting to experience the hilarity of finding out how the newbies discovered the top side! Kind of felt cheated out of it.
Yeah, I still gave it five stars. The authors writing is just that good! On to the next book for me...!
I so love this series. The author is always surprising me with the storyline and the characters. The first part starts so happy and then it all seems to hit and Rosie faces so many challenges. You will laugh and cry as you ride along with Rosie, Bastien and the gang.
This is one series you have to read in order and not jump in but you won't regret it.
It's so epically good! You won't be disappointed in this series!
Rosie and Bastian seem to finally have the opportunity to settle down and be happy. Wait a sec, that's not in the cards for them and once again they are swept away into more... unfortunate circumstances. But it's okay because our heroes have plans! That ending left me wringing my hands a bit though, but I know it'll all be okay because we have 3 more books to see that happily ever after... Right? Bring on book 9!
The end of the last book and most of this book had me in tears. That’s probably on me though I’ve had a lot of emotional trauma this year and reading about so much love between people hurts me, a lot. The series is very good for the most part and a nice escape, but there’s too much animal death in this series for me. I can handle about anything but that and it keeps happening. I sincerely hope that’s the last of it because I’m too invested to stop the series at this point.
I can't believe how lucky I got when I came across this series. Seriously it's one of my favorites. Totally quirky and so much fun! Though there are some dark themes, the protagonist is not without flaws but that is what makes her better. Hope the series keeps it consistency of being this great.
Rosie and Bastien finally get the perfect life in common they deserve. While there’s still some things to learn and get used to, Bastien adapting to Common and Rosie dealing with the fact that she is still, in fact, a vampire, it seems like they can finally have it all. Then bits of Avalon follow them home and everything changes.
There’s so many facets to this book that I wasn’t expecting, then ending took me completely off guard. I’m waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book impatient for more. Ready for answers. And mourning the perfect life Bastien and Rosie will most likely never get.
