Kenzie Atkins was a lovestruck teenager when Spencer Channing left Haven in the dust. But the biggest news isn’t the rodeo champion’s hotly awaited homecoming—it’s the little girl who calls him daddy. Spencer’s newfound daughter is bringing out Kenzie’s yearning for a family—and for the sexy single cowboy who still sets her heart ablaze! Maybe the roving bull rider is finally ready to ride off into the sunset for the ultimate happily-ever-after…
According to her mother, she fell in love with books even before she could read and was always content when she had a book in her hands. It didn’t surprise anyone when she decided that she wanted to be a writer, but she was encouraged to pursue “a real job” first.
So she did—she became a lawyer. Two years of practicing law taught her a lot about the world—and reinforced her determination to become a writer. Because in fiction, she could promise a happy ending!
Thankfully, she had already met and married a wonderful man to inspire her fictional heroes. And when she was on maternity leave after the birth of their first son, he encouraged her to take a romance writing course at the local community college. It was while enrolled in this class that she completed her first (still unpublished) manuscript.
Three more manuscripts and another baby followed. And then, in June 2002, she finally got the call from Susan Litman—an editorial assistant and contest judge—offering to buy the manuscript she’d submitted to RWA’s Golden Heart® contest as “From This Moment.” This story was re-titled McIver’s Mission and released by Silhouette Intimate Moments in May 2003.
Picked this up from a free bin at the bookstore. Grocery store cowboy romance lowkey slapped. I feel like I can’t give it more than 3 stars based on principle but lowkey would give this 4/5 stars. I love the tropes in this and it was quick and easy tbh
I enjoyed this book so much. While some of the elements were stock, the character development made them fresh again. I really liked the progression and the story held me to the end. I believe I read it in one day.
Kenize and Spencer had a brief heated nights while they were teens right before he was set to leave Haven on a mission to be rodeo champion. Now he has back in town with a bummed shoulder and a kid in tow that he just found out about. Spencer needs all the help he can get with his little girl, he doesn't have any experience of what to do with a child but will try to do his best with Kenzie at his side helping out. The thing they weren't expecting though was to developer feelings for each other.
I thought that this was such a sweet contemporary book. I loved both Kenzie and Spencers characters and learning about their family and why they were the way they were and why they made certain choices. I loved getting that dual point of views between them seeing what they really thought about each other and how they were handling everything that was being thrown at them. I loved how Kenzie was with Spencers daughter and I also appreciate how the author managed to keep the child in the story and that she didn't just fall off the face of the book. Not sure why that seems to be a trend with books like this but I'm happy that the child was very much active in the book in her own little way. I loved the romance and there was plenty but not and over bearing amount of steamy scenes which I also appreciate. Overall this was a pretty great contemporary romance I really enjoyed it.
Haven’s celebrity cowboy is back…with a pint-size surprise, Dani! Kenzie Atkins (physical therapist) was a lovestruck 16-year-old teenager who threw herself at him and asked that he take her virginity before he headed off to college, which he declined. Then Spencer Channing (bull rider) left Haven in the dust. But the biggest news isn’t the rodeo champion’s hotly awaited homecoming—it’s the little girl who calls him daddy. He finds out after her mom’s passing that he’s a father to a 3 ½ year old. Spencer’s newfound daughter is bringing out Kenzie’s yearning for a family—and for the sexy single cowboy who still sets her heart ablaze! Maybe the roving bull rider is finally ready to ride off into the sunset for the ultimate happily-ever-after...
This is a second chance story which is typically my go-to for romances but for me. While the characters are sweet and the storyline is not original, the issue for me was that I don't enjoy in my romances when Heros (or heroines) have babies with other people - especially after they have met. That is just a pet peeve for me and one that may not bother others. To each their own....
Six Weeks To Catch A Cowboy by Brenda Harlen. Seven years ago as a teenager, Kenzie Atkins had a crush on Spencer Channing. Spencer left town to join the rodeo circuit. Kenzie never got over Spencer. Spencer now returns to town with a four year little girl. Spencer needs to settle down now that he has a family to take care of. Spencer never forgot Kenzie. A nice romantic story.
If you love a good book then check out Brenda Harlen, her books will grab you and keep you seated until you finish them. I have read her books before and I have not been disappointed yet. This is set in Haven, Nevada and is such a good story-series, you will want to read them all! Canada has such amazing authors!
This was a second chance romance and I throughly enjoyed it. This quick read was awesomely sweet and I pretty much read it in one sitting. I adore children in a romance as it seems much more realistic. Can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Six Weeks to Catch a Cowboy is a lovely second Chance romance by Brenda Harlen. Kenzie was in love with her best friends brother till he left her completely embarrassed in a hayloft. Spencer came home to nurse a sore shoulder. He also had to figure out exactly what he was gonna do with the rest of his life. Spencer had a big secret and so far Kenzie is the only person that are able to help him with it.
This book is genuinely sweet I read it in one setting. I loved it.
This was such a phenomenal story that was fun to read. I was interested in the storyline from the beginning and I loved it even more as the story progressed. It was such an amazing story that anyone that loves a good romance story will love.
This is so much more than about second chances. It’s more like third, fourth or however more one needs. Kenzie and Spencer come back into each others’ lives seven years after an awkward incident in high school. But now he’s a rodeo star and she’s a physical therapist. There lives keep intersecting especially due to the arrival of his little girl. There’s awkwardness, distrust, bridges to cross, and in the end a discovery of the definition of family.
