With the battle for Earth over, our heroes are forced to deal with the repercussions of its outcome. They enlist their closest allies to take back the Ship from enemies both new and old, and along the way they discover a most unexpected source of help.
Jerry Aubin is a technology executive who runs a venture-backed startup. A lifelong science fiction fan, he decided to write his own series when he became disenchanted with the stories available to read to his kids. He lives in Austin, Texas with his wife, two boys, and one awesome boxer named Queso.
Loved the originality and finally, all the puzzle pieces come together! It did move through the Earthers storyline quite fast, but I’m hoping we’ll be hearing more about them in future tales.
I really enjoyed these books, they were well written and had great plot twists. My only criticism is that I think they or at least the last couple of books in the series could have been longer the last book more or less dove straight in to the action which is good but with the addition of the earth's back story I felt that the main story was rushed and bought to its conclusion too soon in the book. Apart from that I thought it was good that the story concluded with the Ship embarking on a new mission leaving it open for a whole knew set of books. The my only advice to Jerry is with the ships new mission being one of exploration try not to make it too Star Trek..
Will the Ship be Welcomed back to Earth after so much time considering what happened when they left so long ago?
Will there be Punishment? Retribution? Forgiveness? Only time will tell once the Ship returns to Earth and the Boss & his entourage are presented as representatives of their lives and struggles on the Ship. This has been a wonderfully exciting trip thru time and space. I am hoping for the adventures to continue for the Boss, Zax, Kalare, Imair, and Mase. There's a new Quadrant to explore....
The Ship Series is billed as a YA story, although I didn't know that when I picked up the first book. Of course, once I hit the first cliffhanger ending, I had to keep going. I devoured the first four books in a week, and then waited quite impatiently for the concluding volume to be released.
It was worth the wait. Resurgence is filled with the same twists and turns as previous entries, with puzzles and mysteries that are always answered in logical (in retrospect) ways. It's a great adventure tale, and highly recommended.
I have really enjoyed this series. It's been my experience in reading a series that you get two maaaybe three good books the they just go to s**t and I'm glad to say that's not so with this series the first book is just as great as the the fifth and I'm glad that Mr Aubin left the story opened at the end of the last book that he can carry on the story with a sixth book. If your looking for a great series with wonderful characters and some twist and turns to the story along the way I would highly recommend these books.
This series is great but the 5th and final book is both full of surprises and exciting action. The author brings us around to see the Rest of the story from humanities home world in an extraordinary time frame of 25,000 years (time dilation - remember). It is both ingenious and riveting how new and old characters meld into a congruent tale of treatruryand human grit to overcome adversity. Exceptionally worth the read. Makes you wonder if it may even be our real history
What an amazing story! 5000 years of a story! And characters that come to life as you read about their lives and adventures, good and bad. It was really sad in some parts and I cried along with the people that got hurt. But all in all it was a happy story about people and Earth and space.
I would recommend this series of books to anyone who enjoys life on our planet. To anyone who has ever dreamed of exploring space. And to everyone who just enjoys hours and hours of reading a good book.
“Resurgence: Book Five, The Ship Series” by Jerry Aubin is the exciting and thoughtful conclusion of the series and begins months following the surrender of The Ship to some mysterious ships. It is an awesome twisting and turning aftermath that jumps timelines and pulls everything together and reveals the truths behind it all. But there are also more flashback revelations that put the final pieces of the puzzle in place, from a surprising new perspective: Earth. Highly Recommended. 5 HUGE Stars. 342 pages. Kindle.
Resurgence (The Ship Series # Five). audiobook version. This is a great conclusion to a series that has gotten better and better with each book. All the plot lines come to a satisfying conclusion. I am glad this story came to a conclusion in five novels. Aubin could have stretched this series out much longer like other writers. Instead Aubin wrote compact and intense stories that had great characters, good action, and crisp writing. I look forward to more stories from this author
I will admit I was worried in the first few chapters but then it really sorted to get good. Tons of twists and turns and the story really gets going. Fun characters both the good guys and villains developed gradually and continuously. If you want a fun read that keeps your interest give this series a shot
Lots of twists and turns even though I figured out what had happened to Adan but really enjoyed the way everything came together in the end. The last book felt a bit rushed. The only thing I did not like was the nearly constant use of split infinitives. It got to be quite jarring.
I have just completed reading the entire series and it took me only three days to read all five of them. I couldn't stand not knowing what was going to happen next. I highly recommend these books. Easy read. Enough intrigue and action to keep one interested.
I'm really hoping there are more stories for these characters. The author has definitely left this reader wanting more. This series has twists and turns and kept me engaged throughout. I heartily recommend reading the series. And this book! Entertainment value is high!
Started reading a sample hoping to recommend this to my son and I just finished the whole series! I typically do not like science fiction or post apocalyptic stuff, but I got drawn into the characters. I wish I was a movie producer because I would buy the rights to this series and make some blockbuster movies.
Wow what a great ride this series gives you. I thought I figure out what was happening. But was I was wrong. The plot twists are fantastic, you are never sure what is happening. I highly recommend not only this book, but this series. I hope to see more books with in this universe.
An excellent space opera of E E Doc Smith style. While occasionally short on detail. the characters fleshed themselves out and became real in the story. Mostly fast moving with excellent detail in the visual representation of the world the story was taking place in.
This series has what I have been missing so much lately, a completely original perspective on space adventure. The unique technology and geo-political conflicts are reasonable and we'll thought out. All that being said before we even begin to explore the wonderful plot line. Thank you for the great series Mr. Aubin!!
This book was an excellent ending to a great series. I very much want to go back and read the entire series again. I really can’t wait until there is a follow up series to learn about the new adventures of the Ship.
It was an easy series to jump into. Book 5 May have been my least favorite mainly because I enjoyed the storylines of the other 4 so much. I still liked it though and satisfactory wrapped up the series.
Very good series, lots of twists on the plot and characters, with a very fast moving plot. Just when I think I have something figured out, something happens - A great read.
Simply could not put these books down. I worried that the story would take a turn I didn’t want but it held true all the way. Some twists and turns I wasn’t sure of turned out well, and some surprises along the way. Cannot recommend highly enough.
For me the best sci fi series since the Alien trilogy, loved the writing style, excellent characters, twists and turns in the story, they have all taken me on a wonderful ride through the stars to many worlds and back to earth. Thanks
A great series of books nicely concluded with a decent ending rather than an annoying what if cliffhanger here comes another book type ending. Although the door is slightly ajar......
I kept stumbling on ads for this series and finally bit the bullet and bought books 1-3 on sale. I'm so glad I did! Once I finished books 1-3 I bought 4 and 5. Enjoyable read with twists and turns that keep you guessing.
Love how all the timelines finally converge in one point to move forward with the end of an evil character. The story how Earth comes back to life and the simbiosis between humans and the ants is one of the most interesting.
I have certainly enjoyed the first five books in The Ship Series. I don’t know if there will be more but if not it was an excellent ending. This is the first time I have read this author but will certainly be looking for more.
Aubin did it again and ended the series on a strong note. There is so much more to explore now, can't imagine not having more to read. Looking forward to what he does next!
Overall this was a great series and got better. The writing definitely progressed with less predictability. The one thing I didn’t like was the ending - I felt like it was too open ended. But I guess it keeps the door open for another series.
