Annual issue that is filled with mini stories that all connect to the next story arch Shattered Grid.

I have absolutely loved the past two Power Rangers annuals. They have shown little glimpses into stories that take place away from the action or delve into minor characters' backstories. This annual is a little different in that it is part of the Shattered Grid event, but each short story in this issue each follows a different team of rangers.

The first story was my favorite, probably since it features the Zeo Rangers. I think that was really the last season I watched before falling out of Power Rangers as a kid. I obviously came back into the fandom since then. Kyle Higgins has done such a good job at finding interesting emotional points from the tv show and actually letting them happen. In the show, there isn't much shown about leadership dynamics or tension between characters that can't be resolved in a half hour. The first story takes place right after Jason lost his Gold Ranger powers.

Lord Drakkon is at the center of all these stories, trying to harness different Ranger powers. The second story shows the SPD team. The third has RPM, with Drakkon trying to persuade Dr.K to join his cause. The fourth story is In Space. This is another example of a great emotional conflict that wasn't accurately shown in the show, in my opinion. TJ goes from being the leader to just another ranger. The last story showcases Ninja Steel, which I am not familiar with, but I still enjoyed the story.

There are different art styles for each of the stories. I liked seeing Drakkon drawn different ways. I'm interested to see how each of these stories fits into the greater Shattered Grid story. I give this issue a 5/5.

A collection of fun stories that help set the stage for the big Shattered Grid event. It's a shame these stories weren't collected in the full Shattered Grid trade paperback as they really help flesh out the other teams and a few events that are directly mentioned in the main story.

These stories are especially helpful to people like me who only grew up on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and are unfamiliar with all the teams that followed. I the main story they just appear, and are given fairly brief introductions. Here characters and teams get bigger introductions that help give you a sense of who they are.

My only complaint is that Drakkon doesn't come across as being as powerful as he does in the main series. In the main series he's wiping the floor with other rangers teams, here they largely hold him off, which feels a bit incongruous. This is a minor gripe however.

Would definitely consider this required reading if you're enjoying the Power Rangers series, preferably before reading any other books in the Shattered Grid story.

Finally BOOM! has given me what I've wanted since day one, a bunch of fun stories from all over the PRU that add to and enrigh various seasons that I'm a fan of. My favorite among these was the Zeo story but even then there's not a bad one in the bunch, even if you aren't reading Shattered Grid but are a big PR fan, I would highly recommend this.

This series is quickly losing me with this Shattered Grid storyline. I only grew up with MMPR, and really only care about those characters, so these cameos don't really do anything for me. If you're into the later seasons you probably feel differently. Personally, I was really hoping the comic wouldn't go this route.
