Ted Dawson is the second to oldest brother of the rowdy Dawson boys. With his oldest brother gone to Tennessee in search of fame on a stage of lights, Ted’s forced to step up and help his aging father run the farm.
He needs help, and gets it from the least likely place – a pretty little country girl from his past. The one that stole his heart when he was just a boy. The one that got away…
He won’t be making that mistake again.
This is a stand-alone, full-sized novel in the Dawson Brother’s series. Each book will focus on a different brother. HEA is guaranteed, no cheating or violence.
Jessica Mills loves the HEA found in a Hallmark movie, must have coffee first thing in the morning, and a homebody that loves living in the country. She’s definitely family-oriented and an animal lover at heart except for snakes….nope! She recently relocated back to East Tennessee with her husband and daughter to be closer to family, she has a son that lives in Florida, and three furbabies that complete her everyday life. She’s always wanted to be a writer and put the stories from her head to paper. She never thought that would come to fruition until she met Ali Parker.
I'm not big on 2nd chance romance books, but I liked how this one was done. There were several parts that were great or really sweet, and I overall enjoyed it. My issue with this book is the same I had with the 1st in this series - the brothers are manwhores. Their past partners and encounters are brought up way too much. I only want those details about tge couple, not anyone in their pasts. This level of manwhore is disgusting. And now I don't really want to read Mason's book because of how he was in this book. He's gross, and I'm going to have a hard time reading a romance with him as the main character after his behavior in this book. I don't expect people to be monks or to be perfect, but I have no interest in the characters being so indiscriminate and idiotic. Some of the stuff they did was horrible or made no sense. Luke also gave graphic sexual details about his prom date, so I'm now going to have a hard time reading his book, too. That stuff has no business being a romance. None. Plus, the whole playboy thing is waaaaay overdone. I wish autbors would get creative and write about something else.
If you read The Dawson brothers Book 1 which features David, the eldest brother, Sarah the young woman who came to town and talented spotted him and his family, then you will be relieved to know that the second book, Wild as the Wind, featuring his younger brother Ted [Teddy to his mum, Lauralee [aka Lolly] and her Grandma] and Lolly and how they eventually arrived at their own HEA. Ted is such a smooth character, taking on the major role of running the family ranch when his elder brother David leaves and seeks his career and happiness in Nashville singing. Now Ted has loved Lolly since they were were tiny tots and would beat up anyone he thought had hurt or wronged her. He even wouldn't let her play Catchy Kissy at school in case any of the boys dared to touch her [he did, however, always sit that game out chatting with her]. he is best friends with her older brother Bailey. Ted and Lolly had gone out for a couple of months just prior to her graduating from high school but he refused to go with her which really broke her heart as she wanted him to see her dressed in her mum's beautiful prom dress but he just refused but wouldn't say why. So Bailey persuaded one of his friends to take her instead of Ted. Ted got wind of this betrayal and when he saw her with Adam he punched him and Lolly got knocked in the fracas. She had spoken to him since and he never apologised. He just seemed to go out drinking and going through many of the young girls in town trying to get Lolly out of his head but he couldn't. Six years later, when he has tried repeatedly to chat to her and she's rebuffed him, he approaches her asking if she knows where Bailey might be as he had a job to offer him on the Dawson ranch. The next day, as bailey is in no fit state to even stand up, Lolly walks over to the ranch next door and says she needs a job and she'll do it. Ted mocks her saying she wouldn't be strong enough!! So she shows him just how strong she is and hurls a bale of hay over his head. Thus she gets the job and he knows that he's going to have to try again as he is heart sick without her. And since I'm not going to give you any spoilers as Ali Parker is an exceptional author and I most certainly am not, I strongly urge you to grab a copy quick, lock yourself in a room, switch off your phone and settle down to some raunchy sensual fun and passionate encounters in the barn. It is obvious that they belong together but they are both hot headed [Lolly has the excuse that, at least, she is a red head, but Ted doesn't have that excuse]. See how his mum and her grandma give good advice and how Ted discovers that love comes before LOVE. I laughed when I was reading this book. I was ready to scratch Ella's eyes out a few times. As for mason, the next elder brother of the Dawson Clan , I loved Thor and Max though Lolly was probably right about her choice of names. I loved how Luke took Lolly dancing and how this helped prompt him to rethink his beliefs. When Ted sets out to be Mr Number One romantic and to prove to Lolly how he feels about her, I think there quite probably be a few tears being shed. Such a wonderful, wonderful story. As you can probably realise by now I absolutely LOVED this book and am looking forward with eagerness for Mason, Luke and Bailey's HEA's too! In the mean time, I am catching up with the books Ali had published before I 'discovered' her stories last year. I received a free reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. However, I've bought my own copy so I can read it again and to support the author!
THIS ISN'T JUST A WESTERN BOYS!!! OMFG! Yep! Big letters. Not a clue what they mean. Someone want to help me out? Nuh just kidding. I'm going to just jump right in, head first. I could sit here and tell you all about this book. I could even tell you everything that happened right down to clipping your nails. I can even go so far as to tell you just how realistic and down to earth with an incredible storyline. I'll tell you this, no one could have written this story and made it a living, breating, action packed, adrenaline pumping and heart pounding out of control tale that this show stopping read definitely does. I can tell you that Ali made this from a single thought with smooth flowing and seemingly effortless real, true to life form growing into one magnificent read. With her skills, imagination and an eye for vivid details that she brought us into a whole new world that out shines the sun. I'm not going to sit back and let everyone tell you about the characters unbelievable, steamy, spark flying chemistry between the two main characters or how great their personalities were as they grew stronger and encompassing each other. It has all the twists, turns and unpredictable surprises with all of the emotions and drama that it probably should be a daytime series. But they cannot capture what Ali brings to life here. Ali's talents and gifts that she works and weaves together without a single wrinkle. She stays true to her own values and knowledge with a craving for creativity that she adds the joy in her writing that It practically glows. This is one hell of a job Ali and I want to thank you for sharing it with us. Remarkable!
What's not to love about the Dawson brothers? This is book 2 in the series, we med Ted Dawson in book one and now he has his own story. After David left, it is now his responsibility to run the farm with his two other brothers. Lauralee is the girl that got away and wants to work with the Dawson's because her daddy won't let her work on their farm. He feels she should only do womanly things. Ted and Lauralee have known each other since they were kids and seem to have loved each other since then. They fight like they're married, they make up like they're married and they look at each other like two people who are meant to be part of the other. Can they put aside their pride and look forward to the future and be together? They were high school sweethearts but when things go wrong they are no longer together. Can you just walk away from someone you loved your whole life but not changing a little bit of who you are to be a better person? You are going to have to read the book to find out what happens, you will not be disappointed. This book is very well written, the characters are all developed well and I love that we get the families involved throughout. A series like this should not be missed. Enjoy
i read this book as part of an arc program. I really loved this second chance romance between Teddy and Lauralee. Teddy and Lauralee were in love for as long as anyone could remember and date through high school until Teddy refused to take Lauralee to the prom and they had a fight. Six years later, Teddy was known as a playboy who broke many hearts and Lauralee still refused to really talk to him. Teddy had recently taken over the family ranch when his brother David left and his father semi=retired to care for Teddy's mother. Teddy had his two younger brothers working with him, but they still needed help. Lauralee lived on the ranch next door to Teddy and her father refused to allow her to work on the ranch. Lauralee needed a job to save money so she could have her own ranch, so when Teddy mentioned needing help, she asked for a job. Things were working out for a while until the fighting between Teddy and Lauralee got out of hand. I liked this story, I thought Teddy really loved Lauralee, he just needed to get his feelings under control and learn to talk. Lauralee also needed to talk about things and not jump to conclusions. Teddy and Lauralee had a great connection and great chemistry. There was a lot of heat between them too. Another great one.
Another great story the second in the Dawson brothers series. This one about Ted and his ex Lauralee. It's been six years since they broke up and now they are finally talking again. She hasn't been with anyone since Ted but Ted has had every girl he could get his hands on since then. They argue all the time and have many misunderstandings which threaten their relationship going back and forth and not one of them wanting to apologize for past wrongs and hurts. For a while I didn't like Ted at all he was immature, a man sl**, conceited, hot tempered and I couldn't see why Lauralee would put up with it given his past conquests and betrayal to his brother....sorry no excuse for that. I did like Lauralee and for a while I was hoping she would find someone else to put Ted in his place. Luckily Ted near the end redeemed himself but I would have liked to see him grovel more. Told from both POV's with steamy scenes and a great ending made the book worth the read. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
This a great second book with the Dawson boys. There are misunderstandings, miscommunication, mishaps, and lots of un-confessed love. Ted Dawson is the next to the oldest. His brother David is off trying pursuing his dreams of being a singer. That leaves Ted in charge of the ranch. He is so overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done and not enough people to do it. When he decides to hire extra help. Hopefully Bailey his long time friend and next door neighbor. What happens is crazy, but he needs the help! Lauralee feels trapped at her own farm. When Ted approaches her about hiring Bailey, she knows that it won't work out. She offers to help out herself. Things heat up quick. Old feelings and flames come to life. There are plenty of ups and downs to their crazy relationship. Is it worth it? If you like cowboys, hotheaded and stubborn couples, then you will love this story. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
I don't normally read books about contemporary cowboys but since I love Ali Parker's writing I decided to give this book a try. I really enjoyed the well-developed story line and the complicated characters. “Wild as the Wind” is a wonderful addition to the Dawson brothers series. This book is a stand-alone and it's not necessary to read the first book to understand or enjoy this story. Ted is the second oldest son in the Dawson family and must step up to help run the ranch after his brother David leaves for a musical career. With too much work to handle around the ranch, Ted hires Bailey to help but ends up with Lauralee instead. These two were sweethearts at one time but the relationship ended over a misunderstanding. The chemistry is still there but can Ted and Lauralee forgive and forget? “Wild as the Wind” is an emotional, sexy, romantic read you won't want to miss. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Love the Dawson Brothers. Teddy is the second oldest of the Dawson brothers and is now running the family ranch. Teddy has his two younger brothers helping him but still needs more help. Teddy hires Lauralee who wants to work to save money to buy her own ranch. Teddy and Lauralee were high school sweethearts but broke up after Teddy refused to take Lauralee to prom. Teddy and Lauralee are always fighting because both are stubborn and jumping to conclusions. Can Teddy learn to control his feelings and tell Lauralee how he feels? Can Lauralee stop jumping to conclusions when it comes to Teddy? Can Lauralee and Teddy get past old hurts and misunderstandings to find their happily ever after? wild as the Wind by Ali Parker is a fantastic book with great characters. Love the banter and all the emotion that comes through the characters. Definitely recommend getting wild as the Wind. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn’t sure this was my genre but I luv’d the first book and the Dawson brothers and I thoroughly enjoyed reading book 2. This story is about Ted and Lauralee. Ted is now responsible for running the farm with his 2 brothers.. Lauralee wants to work with the Dawson’s because her father won't let her work on their farm. Her dad is very strict about women having their place and doing only jobs suited for them. Ted and Lauralee have known and loved each other their whole lives. They broke up after high school. This is a second chance at love story. The thing is, they really are a couple in every way - they just need to fix things especially tending to their pride issues. Another well written story, with meticulously created characters you will love and root for. I can’t wait for the next book and will read from the beginning again. I voluntarily received an arc of this book but purchased a copy as well.
Ted is the second son of the Dawson family. He was tired of living in his brother David's shadow. When David leaves to pursue his music career and their father steps back from the daily ranch business to care for his wife who is recovering from cancer Ted is put in charge. Ted is known as being a ladies man never having a real relationship since he and Lauralee broke up. Ted is looking for someone to work on their ranch since they are short two people. When Lauralee finds out he needs help she talks him into hiring her. Will they be able to work together or will their feelings towards each other get in the way of their happiness? I received this book as an ARC copy for a voluntarily honest review. I absolutely loved this book. I loved the sexual tension between Ted and Lauralee. You will not be disappointed with the book.
After reading the first book in this series, you get to know a little bit about each brother. So when you bring the story of Ted and Lauralee, what can you say about them...2 words Perfect Match. They show us what love can be like from the age of 5 until now. Having to deal with a few obstacles in the way but finally come together to have that true love. This series is so emotional and heartwarming that you can't help but laugh, cry, smile, and everything in between. This is so worth reading and I hope that you do. Ali Parker congratulations on another wonderful book. Each book gets better and better. I give it 5 stars absolutely. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.
This is another wonderful story by Ali Parker, the second story in "The Dawson Brothers", it's a standalone story.
We meet local town playboy Ted, and the love of his life, Lauralee, also the one that got away, but never left his heart. Having his older brother leave the ranch to pursue his dreams the running of the ranch his now up to him. He hires Lauralee to help and all their old feelings come to head, this couple has loads to work out before they get their HEA. But since they have basically been married since they were 5, I couldn't do anything but root for them.
Well-written story, kept me entertained throughout, loved the banter and emotions between Ted and Lauralee. Even the secondary characters were well developed.
I really enjoyed Ali Parker's second book in the "Dawson Brothers" series. This book is about Ted, who is the second to the oldest, and has to step up to handle the family ranch. This is a wonderful second chance romance for Ted and Lauralee. They were childhood sweethearts and best friends but unfortunately immaturity and misunderstandings tore them apart. Now they have a second chance at love but will they be able to make it work. This was a really good story that was somewhat of an roller coaster ride but I really enjoyed the story and the characters. There is definitely chemistry between the two! I really am enjoying the Dawson Brothers!
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.*
I am loving this series by Jessica Mills. There are four sexy Dawson brothers, that grew up on their ranch. Book 1 is about David, the oldest. You can read this book without having read the first one, but I recommend it, not because you need to, but because you will want to, because it is so good. This one is the story of the second oldest son, Ted, and the girl from the ranch next door, Lauralee. As good as book 1 was, I had high expectations for this one as I have waited for it. It not only met those expectations, but it also a 5+ book. You are sucked right into the story, and you stay that way throughout it. Jessica Mills is a wonderful writer, that does such a great job developing the characters, so that you feel like you are close friends with them, and she does such a great job developing the storyline, so you do not want to put it down. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced copy, and I loved it, so I highly recommend this book, and this series.
Ted is the second oldest son in the family and he has to step up and run the family farm when his brother goes off too follow his dream. Ted is having a hard time and ends up getting Lauralee to help him out. Now Ted and Lauralee have had an on and off again relationship for a long time. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. Can they learn to work together both on the farm and off? Will they give in to the chemistry they feel? You will have to pick up the book to find out. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. This is a great read. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Ted has to step up and run the family farm after his older brother leaves to chase his dream of becoming a country singer. Lauralee is the girl that got away after he refused to take her to the prom 6 years ago. She has always been the one for him but after losing her he became somewhat of a manwhore. This story focuses on Ted and Lauralee's second chance. It is well written and the author did a good job with the pacing and plot of the story. Ted and Lauralee had great chemistry but face a lot of obstacles and misunderstandings before they get their HEA. I voluntarily received an advance arc copy for an honest review.
Strap in for the emotional roller-coaster. Is it love? Is it hate? Is it lust? Is it loathing? Lauralee and Ted see-saw back and forth between whether they need to be together or never want to see one another so often that I badly wanted to beat some sense into them for most of the book. That just goes to show you how invested I was in their story. And I was heavily invested. Once I got started, I didn't want to put it down until I saw what it was going to take for these two to heal from the wounds they'd caused each other and get the happily-ever-after that the whole town wanted them to have. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
After a great first story of the Dawson brothers, this one left me disappointed. Ted was a bit too much for me and I think Lauralee deserved better. The writing was still great as always, and characters were well developed, but I just couldn’t connect with the idea that Ted and Laurelee were perfect for each other. With all the hints from his and her family about how they are meant to be and how they all know they will end up married, their relationship left me feeling like it was kind of forced. Like they are together because everyone expects them to be. Hopefully Mason’s and Luke’s stories will be better than this one.
Super sweet story with plenty of rough winds to keep you from settling in for smooth sailing. Ted and LauraLee have been friends forever. Their families own neighboring ranches. The road of true love is definitely not smooth for this couple. Miscommunication, wrong assumptions, and flat out stupidity cause plenty of drama on the way to their HEA. Great characters including the secondary ones. This was the second book in a series. I did not read the first, but everything was developed so well in this one, I was able to follow along easily. My only complaint is I would like to have known more about the tower feud, but that might be in book 1.
Wild as the Wind by Ali Parker is book two in the Dawson Brothers series. This is a second chance between Ted Dawson and Lauralee Langston. They were high school sweethearts and broke up when Ted refused to take Lauralee to the Prom. Fast forward to six years later when Ted hires her to work on the family ranch now that he is in charge. The chemistry, emotions, angst, jealousy, man whore, stubborn redhead, sexy hot scenes and a whole lot of drama will keep you entertained. The story is well written and the characters are fantastic. One click it today!! I have received, voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced readers copy. Looking forward to reading more from this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Second book in Dawson Brothers Series, these bad boy ranchers are becoming fast favorites of mine! A witty, passion filled book that lives up to its promise, while weaving a madding, sexy, love filled second chance romance between Ted and Lauralee! Well-developed enduring characters captured my attention from the very beginning and held on until the very end! Such a unique, sweet heat treats with loads of country heart; these sexy country brothers are ones I cannot wait to read more of! A must read! 5 Stars!
OMG ..the emotions cut like a knife and ran so deep between these two characters. Sometimes I wanted to smack some sense into both of them .I got that invested and frustrated with their storyline. Ted and his good looks and womanizing ways ...that unwillingness to see the love Lauralee has held for him all these years and I wish Lauralee just told him her true feelings from the start. The drama is heartbreaking at times , but the steamy romance between them is beautifully written . I truly loved all the characters . The Puppies .....Soooo Cute !!!
Another amazing book by Ali Parker. This is the 2nd book in this series about the 2nd oldest brother -Ted & Lauralee. They were a couple years ago but he broke her heart. They get a 2nd chance if they can both overcome their jealousy & actually tell each other how they still feel about each other and if Ted can realize some of the things she needs from him before it’s too late & he loses her forever. You won’t be disappointed in this book. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
The first installment in this series was great and hopefully the following books will be the same high quality.
As for this book, I was disappointed. I know there was a good story here, but for me, it was just overridden by endless outbursts of anger between the two main characters...which often bled over to innocent bystanders. I found that distracting and in the end, managed to take away from the value of the story. Jealousy, the inability to communicate and the endless sex scenes did not help.
I received a reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Dawson Brothers enlightens my soul of reading. Both Ted and Lauralee are two strong head individuals that seem to make things in life interesting. Ted who is given the position for running the ranch try’s hard to manage everything on his own but in the end he needs the help of his brothers and Lauralee’s help with the computer system. I can only wait to see what interesting stories about the Dawson Brothers. Loved this book!! I reread this book again for the re-launch. I still enjoyed the wonderful Dawson Brothers who always had a family bond.
Ali Parker knows how to bring out the best in her characters. Ted is the second oldest who is forced to step up and run the family's farm after his oldest brother takes off for his chance at being a country singer. Lauralee is the girl the girl that got away and he didn't know how to recapture his chance until he needed to get help on the ranch. Can she be the key to solving his problem and what about the issues between their families will this solve their problems and bring them all together. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Well this book got all my panties in a bunch, I was so mad with the missundestsnding with this two, but I also love it. The evil Ella I could kill her myself. The surprise that Ted was planing for her with her beast friend and Lauralees hard head to think he was dating her had me wanting to slap some sense into her. And Ted thinking the worst about Lauralee with Tyler, that I wanted to hit him right between the eyes ( joking) yeah Ali did her best to made me mad but also love it as well.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Lauralee and Ted have been circling each other forever. They broke up six years earlier, after he refused to take her to their senior prom, and then beat up the young man she eventually went with. Ted became a bit of a man-whore, bedding every girl around, but Lauralee still owned the block of stone that was his heart. Could they learn to forgive and move past their problems and toward their dreams instead? Great story, and series so far! Must read!
This was book two in the Dawson Brothers series by Ali Parker and is the story of Ted. He is the second oldest brother. Ted was a playboy but had been in love with Lauralee since she was five. She was the one who got away. They were reunited when she came to help him on the farm. Great characters and an entertaining story line. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review. You will fall in love with the Dawson brothers. No cliffhanger.
