Rescue Me was fabulous! An amazing storyline, interesting and engaging characters and hopefully the first in what is sure to be another hugely successful series by Valerie Twombly.
A slight twist on what a lot of readers will expect from a shifter genre, but a captivating concept that will certainly have readers wanting a whole lot more. I loved Derrick and Halee, and the wonderful support cast of siblings and friends, left me pondering who will fall next.
I hope this book is going to be in print, as it definitely belongs on my bookshelf! Are you hearing me Ms Twombly?

This story has many twists and turns and edge of your seat action. Dragons are my favorite shifters and this group of firefighters are absolutely amazing. Halee being pressured by her older brother to choose a mate is frustrating. Derrick looking to forget his past and move on without the drama. When the two collide all bets are off and the heat is scorching. I absolutely can't wait for more.

An excellent read. This romance offers plenty of heat, drama and emotion. Derrick's past is painful, his loss unimaginable, and his suffering poignant. Halee is a full blooded dragon shifter. She is torn between her own wants and desires and doing what is best for the dragons and pleasing her family. The attraction, chemistry, and emotional connection between these two is strong and steamy. A very entertaining read. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.

I received this book from the authors for an honest review.
I have looked at so many of this authors books but never seem to have the time in my schedule to read them. Then when I got an ARC form for this book I jumped because it finally worked out. Now I admit I saw a fireman on the cover ANNNND didn’t read the blurb so when I got the book and found out it has shifter…yup I was even more excited!! Then to know the shifters are dragons….stop the press!!! I am allllllllll in!!
Derrick and Halee are so different but such a great match. She accepts him for the broken man he is wile he accept her for the “Other” parts of her.
Derrick is the whole “ I am an island” type of guy. He is a broken man because everyone he loves dies and leaves him. SO he has decided to just be a player then no one gets hurt especially not him. Halee is a rare full shifter dragon so her brother pushes her to marry another full-blooded shifter to produce more full-blooded shifters. She is so over this and just runs away for a night of fun…no strings fun if you get my drift. The two meet, scratch the itch and go home only to find out they will be working together on the same fire department…..oh snap!
Halee and Derrick have a lot to face and deal with. She wants more, as does he, but he runs. She tries to help him over come his demons but when Halee is put in danger he runs…typical man!! Thankfully Derrick has help from his past to help him see that Halee is the one for him. Once he gets his head outta his butt, getting back is woman is the number one goal.
The story is a fun with the family dynamics of Halee and her siblings. The guys in the fire stations are a riot too. I would love to see Chance and Hope???? Maybe?? But I really cannot wait for Gaelen to find love!!!

I have read the “Eternally Mated Series” by this author and loved them so was eager to read something else from her. This is a book filled with painful loss and the PTSD aftermath that goes with something so tragic. Derrick has withdrawn from connecting with anyone else after the tragic loss of his best friend. When he encounters Halee he thinks it’s just for a hot night. Fate had other ideas and he meets her again right after that passion filled night only to realize she is now his boss.
Halee being a much sort after full-blooded dragon shifter is feeling a bit weighted down by the responsibility of mating with one of her own kind. She decides to let her hair down one night and ends up having a steamy night with Derrick. Imagine her surprise when she finds out he know works with her.
As the two of them dance around their growing attraction, they decide to go for it and set a time limit for a no strings attached short-term affair. While verbally this is what they agree on their hearts however have different thoughts.
The book has a slower pace than I’m used to from this author, her other series that I’ve read has a lot more action. That said there is a lot of a great interaction between all of the characters. We get both Halee and Derricks POV and it makes for a fuller story. Derrick is so torn up and lost in himself, while Halee feels his pain she wants him to take a risk on them.
As these are fire fighters there is a lot of male ribbing and pranks on the new guy. The sense of family is very strong in this story as the majority of the other fire fighters are related to Halee. It’s a very sweet story with some heat one I would read again.

All manner of complications, from her bossy matchmaking brother to Derrick's irrational conviction that if he loves a person they'll die, like his dad and his friend, conspire to keep the two apart - but their mutual attraction leads to more hot sex, and ever-deepening feelings. The firefighting action and the bedroom action alternate center stage in this steamy touched-by-the-paranormal romance. Superb realism on the fire-fighting scenes makes it heart-pounding. Sexy and conflicted characters make it Kindle-melting. Read this book with a cold drink and a fan - you're gonna need 'em. Awesome Story Hands Down
The storyline was so good that I kept forgetting this was a PNR story. Lol
Wow where to begin, I found Derrick's pov for a future to be so sad and heartbreaking. What he has lost in the past really does a number on him. I found myself hurting for him and as a mother I just wanted to give him a hug and reassure him. Sigh...
Halee, now her character is strong and sassy. She may be the dragon shifter in here but she is really no different from any woman when it comes to how we act and feel towards our ideal man. Our hearts still feel the same highs and lows of loving someone. And sometimes we have to let go to make our point.
There is so much more too..Leaves you with a huge smile and feeling good.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Rescue Me By Valerie Twombly is Book 2 in the Sparks of Desire series. I devoured this book! From the moment I started reading this story pulled me in. I laughed, I cried, I cheered... the whole emotional rollercoaster. Valerie Twombly has a real gift for character and world building and Rescue Me is another great example. I was sitting in the bar when Derrick walked in, I was sitting in the house as it burned hot. I so enjoyed reading this book, it was a great quick read that was sweet, spicy and highly entertaining. If you like your heroines feisty and decisive and your heroes sexy as sin, find a comfortable place to spend a couple of hours with Halee, Derrick and the rest of the crew. This is a Mature Audience Read. WARNING: Sexy hunks, Snarky Dragons and Highly Addictive Secondary Characters that will have you begging for more!

March 20, 2018Don't remember all that happened in the other Dallas world book but you don't really need to read the earlier one to enjoy this. Had some funny scenes & happy that her big brother finally had a come hail Mary on listening to her feelings.

Really enjoyed this story. Genetics is not all it cracked up to be as you are more that your past sometimes. Taking time to ponder your rarity may make you crazy but knowing that there is more to your future than others think you should have means sticking to your guns for happiness,

This is a fantastic book. There are so many layers to it, and such a touching and thought provoking story. It's beautifully written and constructed, the characters are sweet. Impossible to put down.

I loved this first book to this series. My heart went out to Derrick and knew his path to love was going to be rough. Halee had her struggles to overcome but I felt they made a great couple. There were a few tears and some laughs, making a very good read. I recommend this book, and I look forward to more in the series.

I loved this book
I loved everything about this book. The main characters were everything I could have asked for. The sexy encounters were just perfect and of course I'm a sucker for a happily ever after.

This would have been a perfectly fine contemporary romance story if there were no shifters. My question is, why were there shifters? I did not see any point- did not feature prominently in the action sequences, was not a secret that comes out dramatically, nothing.

Really good second installment of this series. Love the characters, story line is relatable (well for a paranormal reader anyway), nice bit of suspense and not a cliff hanger.

This is book 2 in the Sparks of Desire Series featuring some very smoking hot firefighters. The hero in this story is firefighter/paramedic Derrick Taylor. After a terrible fire took the life of his friend and partner Derrick packed up his belongings and drove out of town. Not at all interested in relationships of any kind....getting close to someone only hurt like hell when they were taken from you....Derrick had survivors guilt. Why had his friend died and he lived?
Our heroine is Halee Murphy, firefighter/paramedic. Halee was a rare breed indeed. Being a full blooded female dragon shifter made her one of a kind. With feeling pressure from her older brother expecting her to mate with a male of her kind was not what she wanted. Halee wanted to be in love with her mate, not just used as a means to an end.....giving birth to full-blooded female dragons to carry on their line. Having a sexy as hell human male take the seat next to her in the bar she was presently in was her ticket to happiness.....or at least a night of pure hot passion.
I really fell in love with Halee & Derrick. Even the secondary characters were very likable and could see future books with them as the main focus of the story. I love the firefighters and having many of them dragon shifters was a brilliant move on the authors part. Derrick & Halee make a great couple and the firey passion they shared with each other made my heart smile! I see great things coming in this series and can't wait for the next hot exciting love story.
