The author gets a lot of it right, interesting characters, good banter between the characters coupled with action and an unpredictable plot.
My greatest issue with the book is that a team that is supposed to be the best of the best have carried out eight missions without noticing something is very very wrong. I also find it extremely unlikely a team like this, with an end goal that will require INFORMATION to get to, would not take prisoners or at the very least interrogate some people before killing them. I mean the team leader has supposedly made it his quest in life to stop this warlord, yet never gone down on the planet covertly to gather intel? Or spoken to refugees?
Another thing that bugs me is that an alliance spanning multiple planets would have sent only one ship for an invasion of a planet, and then cancelled all their plans after the loss of that ship.
Curiously absent from the story towards the end is the damn navy, who gives a flying f about naval intelligence when you can simply kill the enemy's leader and carry out an invasion when the enemy is in disarray?

Well done
Much better than I thought it would be. The writing is tight and well proofed and thank goodness the plot makes sense. A worthwhile read which I can only hope continues onto the next book as it is next on my stack.

World building the inescapable curse
The problem with a first book in a Sci-Fi series is that the author has to build the world, as well as the characters and the story line. Outside of Sci-Fi, a round of the characters with hints and you are into the story. Here, with a complex cast of characters and the world to build, I found myself waiting for the story to start until over 75% of the book was done. The action scenes before that were obviously false starts or mere beginnings. I was at the point of giving up on the book, and then when completion was inevitable and action was gearing up, I wasn’t sure it would be worth going on to book two.
Well, I’m there, and it was worth the wait, and I’ll read the next one. It feels like the story is just beginning now.

I can’t tell you about my favorite parts of this book without spoiling some excellent surprises that really enhanced my enjoyment of the novel. But surprises aren’t the only thing that’s good here. There’s a mystery to uncover—one that the characters aren’t even aware of in the beginning but that really jumps start the book when the heroes start to figure out what’s going on. Finally the setting is very strong. The world that the elite companies of dragons operate out of worked for me and certainly has strong possibilities for future stories. That being said, this novel is a little slow to get started. It wasn’t until about halfway through the book that I was really hooked. So be patient with the opening. You won’t regret it.

I thought the story idea was good, but the sheer number of characters and number of locations and things happening got confusing at times. Went back to re-read chapters to get it clear. It's not a bad book but you definitely have to pay attention. An editor could give some critique how to tighten it up more and for me that would make it better.

Deception, deceit and loyalty
This book is an introduction to a future human empire with occupied worlds trading between each other. The Dragon corps are the attack dogs of the empire, but what happens if they are misled into harming rather than helping the citizens? I am looking forward to see where the story goes from here.

The Dragons were the best but none could take the Warlord. Talon, the commander of Dragon team 9
had tried on several occasions only having to withdrawal. Now he was beginning to see that the Warlord had better intelligence. But Talon was a person who never went back on his word and that meant there would no stopping him this time. If it were that simple. Well worth reading.

Solid
Definitely has a good start for storyline . Enjoyable to read . Has a rough outline of the universe at large with plenty of room to grow . storyline is more based on characters then battles or technology . definitely a solid start

To me the author explored what is a 'martyr for a cause'. Each main character had to act out/clearly express in their own terms what the example for them is commitment, trust, and value of living. Some showed and easy way to support a cause and other chose a very difficult path.

Good read
Page turning keeps your attention. Slows down when switching the story away from the main characters fortunately not for long before your back to the main characters.

Sci-fi, fast paced, action-adventure, intrigue & a little romance to boot! Dragon Corps starts fast & never lets up. Great characters & an exciting plot!
Natalie Grey writes characters that you will love and love to hate, with depth, wit & humor. Once you get started, it's hard to put down.
I can't wait for the sequel!
