Joanna left school at fifteen with one O-level and worked her way through many different jobs – barmaid, kennel maid, pizza delivery expert – before returning to school in her thirties and qualifying as a doctor. Her work as a psychiatrist and interest in people on the fringes of society continue to inspire her writing, and Joanna currently volunteers for Arts for Health, an organisation bringing creative arts to NHS staff and patients. Joanna Cannon’s second novel Three Things About Elsie is published in January 2018 and explores memory, friendship and old age. She lives in the Peak District with her family and her dog.

Borrowed from my library's e-book service!

This short story sadly wasn't for me. It follows a young girl, whose parents and her have travelled to a cottage to spend a holiday in the moors and their holiday there. This girl meets a young guy who is staying at the other holiday cottage. Feeling a little underdeveloped and with time gaps throughout, I really wanted a longer story to really get to know the characters better!

Loved it

Very tender a moving beautifully written story. I loved the ending, the colours and the sadness that was both there and not there

Interesting short story surrounding the mythology of withering heights. It was ethereal and spooky and eerie but brilliant to read.
