What are the world's greatest destinations? Where are the best places to travel solo? From airport fashion to road trip rules, professional traveller Brooke Saward shows us where to go, what to do and how to get that holiday feeling without even leaving home. Full of beautiful photographs that will ignite the imagination and featuring enduring favourites like Paris, New York, and London, this is the book that will inspire you to make every day an adventure.
Brooke Saward is the founder of the popular travel blog, World of Wanderlust. Since then, Brooke has been travelling non-stop across 80+ countries. She is currently working on her memoir.
This is a fun book, but contains little content. It is more a browse through/coffee table style of book, it can be finished within an hour. I like the pictures but the book adds little value to the blog. If you already visited Paris, Venice London and New York (like me), which are 4 of the 5 cities that are described, there is just too little to read. If you are a more experienced traveler you should not read this book. I guess I just wasn't the right audience for this book.
There are not enough words to describe how much I love reading Brooke's blog, World of Wanderlust. I found her by happenstance several years ago, and have been hooked to her posts since. Everything she ever wrote about travel, life, and passions I found a connection with, so when she revealed she would finally get to publish a print book, I was absolutely thrilled and so, so proud. After ordering it for my birthday this year, I easily read it in one sitting (and have read it many times more since then). I love it so much that I refrained from properly reviewing it for such a long time because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do it justice. For fans of WOW, this book is like a properly bound version of the best parts of the blog, with familiar pictures that are a perfect mixture of Instagram-like intimacy and professional photographs. Colourful and inspirational, she covers things like solo travel (specifically as a female), photography tips, individual city guides, food, culture, and more. I absolutely loved it, and I'm absolutely sure you will too.
This review also appears on my blog in a longer (MUCH longer), more cohesive post (and is also probably a lot better than this rambling of words I quickly put together (but also probably not)) here.
Review : Brooke Saward is professioneel reiziger. Vele tips over o.a. luxe reizen, solo reizen, foto's maken, werken onderweg, landschappen.
Parijs, Venetië, Londen, New York, Sint-Petersburg, Cappadocië, ... Say cheese!".
Beautiful travel book I purchased as a gift for my friend. She was delighted. I managed to get one of the few left signed books by the author, purchased through her website.
Some of the reviews mention it is more inspirational, which is why I purchased the book. It is perfect for followers of Brooke's travels to have a tangible product on your coffee table. I look forward to seeing where she travels next.
A perfect 'coffee table' book filled with beautiful pictures from around the world. The sections describing various destinations to visit were my favourite part of the book. I felt almost as though I was experiencing each of the cities myself. The rest of the book would undoubtedly make for a useful guide when planning a trip, however, reading it when you have no plans in the works/don't know when traveling will be possible was rather boring.
I love 'real' content. I really liked how the book was put together in different and sometimes, fun surprising subject and topics.. But it was more of an 'information' book, and less of a story kind of book. I guess if you are looking for an information kind it's very suitable, but for me it wasn't at all what I expected. But some parts were fun though!
I purchased this book earlier this year and get a lot of compliments from friends. It is more of a travel inspiration book, filled with photographs and tips from the author's travels. Personally I really enjoyed the light read but more to have as reference when I'm thinking about my next adventure.
I actually got this as a gift for my sister, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to read it...so I did quickly! It's not a novel so I feel slightly bad using it as part of the challenge. A great use of pictures and short, quick, and thorough descriptions of traveling experiences and recommendations. Highly recommended for traveling friends or the first time traveler!! Also her blog is amazing!!
