From bestselling and beloved author Todd Parr, a new book about all of the different ways that cars and trucks help people and have fun.
Some trucks help on the farm.
Some trucks help in the city.
Some cars like to drive in the snow.
And some cars like to drive to the beach.
All cars and trucks LOVE to be on the ROAD!
Todd Parr brings his trademark bright colors and bold lines to his new book about cars, trucks, and the occasional bus. In a fun collection of silly images, Todd explores all of the ways vehicles have an impact on our daily lives, while weaving in messages about positivity, the environment, and safety. Readers will laugh along with the whole four-wheeled gang!
Parr devotes time to numerous philanthropic causes supporting pet adoption, children’s hunger, health, and literacy. He is a frequent reader and fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House and serves on the board of directors for the Virginia Children’s Book Festival. His corporate collaborations include Best Buy, Stouffer’s, and the San Francisco–Marin Food Bank, among others.
A native of Wyoming, Parr currently lives in Berkeley, California.
Not.....terrible. Bless Todd Parr, but his books never fail to leave me with a headache because of the color scheme. This book is less "shouty" than some of his others, and I liked the safety tips at the back. (Lucky for me, I never eat hamburgers while driving. Only cheeseburgers.)
This is a great storytime read-aloud! In typical Todd Parr style, the pictures are brightly colored and vehicles and drivers are all colors of the rainbow. The text is simple and there are opportunities to engage even the youngest audiences. An exuberant celebration of cars and trucks that truly makes the reader believe that “all cars and trucks love to be on the road.”
I like this book because cars go round and round and wheel and wheel all over town. Puppies on one, but not a car: a truck. Cars of full of people, trucks are full of food or toys or anything; sometimes they're filled with toys and food. Or furniture, that means a moving truck!
The Cars and Trucks Book by Todd Parr is nicely illustrated through the use of an iMac drawing pad. It is bright and cheerful, using mostly primary colors with great contrast appropriate for introducing young readers to the world around them. The author personifies the trucks, giving them feelings about such things as how the trucks "love" to be on the road. The author also mentions that there are various types of trucks such as street cleaners, school buses and trucks that like to play in the dirt. The best part is toward the end where the author lists safety tips for drivers. It's a helpful re-enforcement for adults and children to be aware of in a fun way.
This book is about the cars and trucks of the word it talks about all different cars and there jobs that they do. It was very informational for the students to under stand the different types of cars and what they do.For example they show garbage trucks, street cleaners, delivery cars and many more. They even put fun animals in the cars to keep their attention.
Me and my kids havent actually read any Todd Parr books before this. Now we are obsessed! Great for boys and girls alike, learning about all the different vehicles in our lives. The artwork was bright, bold and silly, perfect for kids. This was a fun read!
Something about this book just didn’t click for me. I think Parr touched on many of the uses for cars and trucks, making the playful text relatable. I enjoy the illustrations full of color and animation.
Charming book, complete with funky trucks and traffic safety rules! Although I've disobeyed the "never eat hamburgers while driving rule" maybe the laundry delivery truck will still visit me.
I find Todd Parr's books aggressively cheery - but they round out toddler times nicely and this one is no exception - particularly if you're doing a vehicle theme.
I have never met a Todd Parr book that I haven't loved. I love his illustrations...bold and colorful and eye-catching...and I love his stories...simple and easy to follow.
Kids that love transportation books are going to want to hear this book over and over again. It teaches different types of vehicle names and other concepts.
Sometimes it's just fun to read a good children's book, and this one was a bright spot in a gloomy day, with its bright primary colours and imaginative treatment of cars and trucks.
Typical Todd Parr - entertaining enough but no real story line. This is good for a toddler story time or a kid that just loves transportation vehicles.
This one didn't really do it for me, or my daughter. It felt a bit like they were like "hey Todd Parr, you're good at writing books about feelings and stuff, now do vehicles" and he was like "uhh, ok, how's this?"
