Most of the time, the practice of law is a rat race -- and all too often the rats win. This book embraces that fact and tries to make it palatable by disguising basic truths about corporate law as hyperbole or sarcasm. I recognize the characters and scenarios in this book all too well -- and I have never practiced in the corporate law area. In fact, this book is a clear reminder of all the reasons I knew I could never work for a Firm, even one that is less prominent than the one featured in this book. I am one of those people who did not get into the law in order to get rich and somehow that has never changed, despite the student loan debt and the drudgery of the government lawyer. Sadly, a lot of the negative aspects of the law (cronyism, overwork, lack of appreciation by seniors, the egometer) apply just as much in government work, but with less of the $$$ to compensate. Also, though, less pressure to drum up business or to deal with difficult customers.

For anyone who is a lawyer, the book is all too true so never reaches actual lol status. For anyone who knows a lawyer, this book explains many a "wtf" moment experienced in the orbit of lawyers. For anyone who just doesn't like lawyers (really, though, who does like them? certainly not other lawyers) this book will confirm your deepest suspicions and allow you to chuckle at the conditions endured by those who practice the profession.

This book is really funny, I genuinely don't know if the author is encouraging people to become a lawyer or drop out of law school but this book was a really fun read since it tells how competitive and cruel law school is.

If you want to go to law school, this book tells you what to expect and what to do. I don't really recommend this to someone who REALLY wants to know stuff about law school. But if you want to read a book about talking trash about law school, this book is for you.
