27 books71 followersI am a retired Southwest Airlines pilot. My wife Paula and I, live with our Chihuahua, Gabe, in Mesa, Arizona in a 55+ Golf Resort even though we don't play golf. It affords my wife a very active lifestyle while I spend my time writing. As a child, I enjoyed going to the Saturday matinee and spending the day watching westerns and daydreaming about the old west. I shared a passion with one of my aunts and read every western I could get my hands on. John Wayne was my favorite actor and Louis L'Amour my favorite writer. I miss those days where the good guys win, they treat the ladies right, have honor and are trustworthy. So, in about 2014, I started writing my own westerns and became quite shocked that people enjoyed them. I am so thankful to those of you who read my books, take the time to write reviews and email me. John Wayne said it best when he said "without you, I wouldn't be here". Please accept my deepest appreciation.

I am always on the lookout for a new western author. Donald L. Robertson has produced a great series called Justice. Our protagonist is Clayton Barlow. Clay is trying to decide whether to join the Texas Rangers or practice law. His grandfather is a retired senator and an attorney and talks Clay into going to New York City to law school. Clay graduates from Columbia University Law School and heads back to Texas. After reuniting with his horse, Blue, he discovers his grandfather has been shot in the back. Clay sets out to find out who did it.
The book is well written and is not stop action. Robertson does a good job with character development. Robertson writes in the pulp western fashion. This is a great old fashion action packed western. I can not wait to read the next book in the series.
I read this as an audiobook downloaded from Audible. The book is seven hours and 42 minutes. Scott Miller does a great job narrating the book. Miller is an actor and voice-over artist. This is my first experience with both the author and narrator.

I selected the first book of this series by accident, but thank goodness I bought this one by choice, and made a great one. Mr. Robertson, you have a new follower, so bring on the next book in this series. This series compares with Game Warden Joe Pickett and U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson, and that is pretty good company. If you love good reading follow the "Del Rio Kid!"
What can I say? Definitely a five star masterpiece of true great American folklore that left me gasping for more. I am definitely looking forward to the next book, for sure, since we have a new Texas Ranger to enhance the already exciting adventures, created by a master author.
I am more than impressed with the author's apparent knowledge and research of the era, and how well he applies his knowledge through his extraordinary selection of outstanding characters! Too, the storylines are unbelievably great western escapades, that teeter on the crest of believability. Too, there is no adverse profanity throughout the entire book. That is an A plus for me!
This is definitely a heartwarming, family-friendly, episode of our real old western adventure that has everything in exciting sequences from beginning to end!
I, without hesitation, recommend this series of spectacular travels through the old west, by another creative author, to everyone, especially lovers of great western adventures. There is a little romantic interludes, but I anticipate an increase in that area in upcoming episodes. Please! Do not miss this outstanding new western masterpiece, or the loss will most definitely be yours!!!!😂

CLAY BARLOW LAWYER/TEXAS RANGER
Clayton Barlow aka Clay has returned from New York City to Austin, Texas where his Grandfather lives who is also a lawyer/retired Senator of the great state of Texas. His grandfather was ambushed by an unknown back shooter which we all known is prevalent in that era...you all know, it's a cowardly act.
Clay attended Columbia University Law School and graduated as a lawyer. He asked his Grandfather did he know who might have shoot him, his Grandfather wasn't able to identify the shooter.
This western adventure is mysterious with a menagerie of shady characters who want Clay dead by any means necessary. We are also introduced to the women he knows from his childhood and the others he meets during some kind of altercations. Clay is in deep thought regarding his future in law, will it be as a defender or as lawman???
This western illustrates that blood is thicker than water. There's a sense of fairness. You also introduced to a snatch of inside trading where people were able to save their ranches and monies when they were told about a recession was heading their way.
Everyone who reads this adventure won't be able
to put it down. I hope we'll read more about the life of Clay Barlow and his horse Blue.

audio review
This is the first book I have read by Donald L Robertson but wont be my last. I loved this story. It had a good old-west feel.
Clay Barlow is eighteen and riding to Austin as robbers attack the stage. He is invited to join the Rangers but has to meet with his Grandfather who is wanting him to join the family business in law.
I really enjoyed this story. there was a lot of action and it was like watching a western on TV. there was a spot where he went with the Irishmen to study law then suddenly he was back a couple years later and it felt like a gap in the story. but the rest of the story picked up and it was interesting.
Scott Miller is also a first time narrator for me. I loved is western sounding voice.It fit the story well and the characterization is good, pacing good and I will be adding hi to favorite narrators.
Now I need to listen to book one and do suggest you listen in order as I felt at the beginning I missed something too.

Clay Barlow has always wanted to be a Texas Ranger. His parents had hoped he would serve the law on a different path by becoming an attorney. Clay had always been an upstanding, law-abiding citizen, managing to be in the right place at the right time to foil those who chose to break the law. The shooting of one such train robber precipitated Clay’s grandfather to be shot in revenge by the bandit’s family. Clay had gone to New York to study law and was on his way home when he heard the news of his grandfather. So began the hunt for his grandfather’s shooter. Meanwhile, another outlaw was making a name for himself as a holdup man and a killer. The paths of these characters would eventually cross, leaving behind violence and death. I love a good western and this one is no exception. This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.

Law and Justice: Justice Series #2 Book - Clay Barlow visited his grandfather, after a short visit his grandpa gave Clay his ranch. Clay Barlow will receive it upon his grandpa's death He wanted to join the Texas Rangers. He prepares for college to study law, leaving Texas to go to New York. Clay and his grandpa had a long discussion before he left. This is just the first part of the story.
The books are so well written with detailed events throughout. I especially enjoyed this book written about Texas my home state most of the towns I have been to which made the story more interesting to me.
This book has everything, a good clean book with more exciting western stories, famillies and friends helping each other, light romance, adventures, gun fights, and an interesting court case. All written by an Outstanding author. I recommend books to all familiar and teen.

I'm so glad I found this series. I absolutely love this book and will be read a lot more by this author. This is a story of Texas in the beginning. It's the story of a young man devastated by the torture and rape of his Mother and Father and their best friend Slim. He is 17 years old. His story was told in " Forty Four Caliber Justice. This book picks up with Clay going to New York to study law. When he is returning he finds out his grand father has been shot in the back. Instead of practicing law he is once again searching for murders and the scum of Texas. Great reading. I'm going to Amazon to buy another series by this author. If you love a good western like those of Zane Grey or Gunsmoke you will love these books.

Good follow-up on Clay Barlow and his grandpa.
At the beginning I thought I wouldn’t enjoy this book. After reading about the many outlaw adventures he experienced as a 17 year old in the first book, the second book starts with Clay going to New York to be become an attorney.. NO! I don’t want to read about two boring years of law study. Well, I was wrong and pleasantly surprised. There were adventures with outlaws right off and the time passed quickly. (Like between two chapters.) I learned for the first time about a depression in the states in 1870 and did a little side reading and learning. Now his special skills will be used for justice as a Texas Ranger. No office time for Clay Barlow!

Excellent Book 2 in the Justice series
Clay Barlow is an interesting character in the series. He has a strong moral and ethical foundation and he lives his life with those guiding principles. This book in the series depicts several encounters Clay has with good people and bad. He treats I good people with kindness and respect. While he isn't rude or crude to the bad guys, he is guarded and aware of their reputations. I enjoy his interactions with everyone Clay encounters. The author, Mr Robertson, does an excellent job of developing the various characters in the story.
I am anxious to jump into book3 in the series.

This series is gripping. From the florist page of book one to the last of this book. I’m like a kid again going to the Saturday matinee to catch the next episode. These are the best westerns I’ve read in many years. I enjoy the plots and twist and the realistic western settings. Do yourself a favor and get ant of his books and just enjoy.
I’ve read everything he’s written. Can’t wait for the next book from Mr. Robertson. Saturday can’t come fast enough.

A young man who has become known as th Del Rio Kid , which he hates, leaves Austin for his prior home after the Sheriff is shot and killed plus the Bank owner is shot. He begins his pursuit of the bank robbers and save his friends. He leaves Austin for NYC to study law. He studied law and returns.
He immediately become embroiled in Texas Ranger business. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

As good as the first one
Mr. Robertson has done it again! This continuation of the Clay Barlow story is as good as the first book in the series. I for one hope this isn't the end of the story. I like the style of writing the author adheres too. I really don't like to read smut. There is enough of that in the world today. If you want to read a good story this is it. Thanks Mr. Robertson.

Clay Barlow is a conflicted young man, was he meant to be a lawyer or a law man? It's a good thing that he has his grandfather to help him. This is a very good series , and I would encourage this author to continue writing he truly has a wonderful flair. His book had a good plot that continued through to the end. All the strings were tied up and that just the kind of book that I like. BRAVO 👏

Well written regardless of genre
For many years, Westerns were considered pulp fiction not worthy of being published in hardback. Books like the Justice series are the reason that is no longer true. Very well developed characters, wonderful plot lines and twists, make these books memorable. Unlike Lamour, Robertson does not have 5 or 6 plots or even standard escape methods. Every book is fresh and well written.

Action never stops
Clay is a young man with many questions about where his life is headed. He gets his education but even on the train to New York he successfully stops a train robbery. After 2 years he comes back to Austin and finds his grandfather has been shot. Throughout all his adventures he still struggling with whether to be an attorney or a Texas Ranger. Great book and loved the ending and the Rangers got a good man.

Good western
I can't wait for the next book in this series. The main character in this book is a man easy to relate to. The accurate western day to day life is well written. Lots of gun play, which I like and the way animals are treated like the valuable resource they were .Characters

The Justwice and Logan series as well as the novellas are all great reads!
I really would like to read more of both and where Will Logan is, and what's happening with Valium and Floyd. Clay Barlow's should be equally fascinating,so please don't stop writing about them. I look forward to enjoying many more of highly entertaining stories.

As good, if not better than the previous stories
I read and enjoyed book one this series, which is why I purchased book two. I was not disappointed. The writing and storyline were first rate. A fast read with enough detail to be very interesting, while connecting everything. I am looking forward to book three.

Great sequel to book 1
Book 2 in the Justice series finds young Clay more mature but not without many adult hazardous situations to face. I continued the series with an attached audio version and felt the segue into book 2 travelled forward without a hitch. I am a couple chapters into book 3 and the inciting event for the hook is captivating. Sure to be a good book as well.it's

So difficult to put this book down!
I'm a avid reader of good westerns with strong and very likeable characters such as this book and all of the Justice Series books have! The writings of Donald L. Robertson go into such detail as to facilitate the continuing mental movie of each book as I move from page to page! He makes reading so enjoyable!

This book continues how his life is going forward after he decides to go to college to become a lawyer. Clay folds life at first quit busy and crowded in New York, and very different from Texas. Now he is back home with his Grandfather and life gets interesting again. Narrator does a Great job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

I enjoyed book 1 very much. That's why I read book 2 as soon as I finished book 1. I am now looking forward to reading book 3, to continue Clay's life as a ranger.

Great book to read . This book will keep you interested and reading .
I read this book and loved it because it was very interesting. The only regret I had was I did not read book number one in the Series first. That book was ordered and now I can find out ,the rest of the story.

Continuing Journey
Second book on Clay's journey. This one was just as good as the first book in the series. It just seems like every page is exciting so it's on to the next book about Clay's life to see what happens to Clay.

Exciting western Law and Justice
I really enjoyed this Western very much it kept my interest and it was a heartfelt story I enjoyed the way Donald Robertson writes , he kept my interest on every page .I will definitely read more story’s by this author.

Second book in Clay Barlow regarding his journey to becoming a Texas Ranger. Clay has just returned from obtaining his law degree in NYC, to find his grandfather back shot. He immediately starts to hunt down the man responsible.

Great book
I enjoyed the book very much. It kept me from putting it down as I had things to do. I loose interest in some books, but not this one and I plan the read the next in the series..
