Never thought I would read a movie novelization. This book gave me more appreciation for the format, however. After rewatching the film, it’s clear the book adds a lot more in the way of scenes not in the film (possibly in the original script but excised I’m editing?) and more importantly in the added internal dialogue of the main character. Mr. Camry’s prose is enjoyable with a strong voice for the narrator. His writing feels reminiscent of Chuck Palahniuk. Worth reading if you come across a copy. It’s a quick read as well.

This book had me in a different state of mind and was a really good option for people who like gambling. It takes place from a first person point of view from our main character Mike. Mike has a natural sense for the game of poker and is really good. During the book a part of his future had been planned on being a lawyer but things changed for him as he and his friend became an unstoppable duo in the gambling world. A theme of rounders was the pursuit of true passion. The theme is largely represented by how his passion had been gambling and he had tried to take that away by going to law school; he also shows that his pursuit of passion had actually been successful. I loved every part of the novel and didn't not like any of the novels. I would highly recommend this book as the book was one of my favorite books of all time.
