Mermaid Mia decides to make up a story for the school newspaper because there wasn't any news to write about. The news of the Queen visiting gets out of hand. Mia is on the verge of telling the school that the news is made up, but the Queen decides to visit the school. Saving Mia. Very cute.

I got this for my kindergartener at the book fair and I have to admit I don't care for it.
Mia writes for her school paper and she decides on a slow news day to make up a story that the queen is visiting her school.
What bugs me is that she gets away with it. Like, she gets rewarded for making it up. I guess the moral is she gets rewarded for admitting the truth to the queen, but then her fake story comes true because the queen visits. I don't know. It's a kids book, it isn't that deep, but every time I read it with my daughter I get annoyed.
