Castille Hotel #1

Business & Pleasure

Rate this book
Don’t mix business and pleasure.
Don’t sleep with the sexy, arrogant, manwhoring boss.

Easy enough right? WRONG.

There’s nothing I want to do more than slap the perfect smile off his face… his gorgeous, panty melting face.

I swear he’s made it his personal mission to tempt and tease me the entire length of our work contract.

I hate that I know the way he tastes…the way his lips feel against mine.

I hate that I still want him even after hearing him ram his headboard against my adjoining hotel room wall.

Mostly…I hate that I’m falling for him.

Can a no strings attached fling blossom into an actual future?

Or will a tragic accident ruin our chances forever…

After seeing all the 5 star reviews, I went in thinking that this would be a light & enjoyable read to pass an hour or two on a lazy Sunday afternoon. And I was pleasantly enjoying it - that is right up when the asshole Hero cheats!

Hero has already hired heroine and is very attracted to her and thinks she is special because she is different from any of his past hookups and wants something "real" like what his BF & his fiancee have. He has been pursuing heroine, asking her out while she turns him down each time because she thinks he is a manho. So all of this is said at the end of one chapter through his POV in which he states that he will continue pursuing her.
Then in the next chapter, while they are in NY, we learn that heroine has a room next to him and she hears Hero with a female laughing, talking, moaning & headboard banging on the wall. She realizes he is having sex with someone else and tells him the next day that he should get "his rooms soundproofed". The scumbag tells her that he should have been more "thoughtful" of where her room was and is embarrassed!!!

Next day, heroine accepts his dinner invitation and while kissing heroine, he puts his foot in his mouth with a comment about "moaning" which pisses heroine as it reminds her what he did the other night. His explanation? "She was someone I used to date awhile back. She heard that I was in town and reached out. I know it wasn’t right, I regret it now. I was frustrated that I couldn’t seem to get through to you and I took her up on her offer for a drink. I knew her intentions and I should have said no but I didn’t.”

So all is forgiven because of course, it was the heroine's fault for not accepting his dinner invite that caused him to cheat and not say no to the OW. Yeah...Go figure.

Frivolous, lite & incomplete comes to mind!

Frivolous comes to mind while reading this book, or maybe the word is lacks substance! This book had no depth, it has little to no connection with my while reading. I feel think this author had this idea lying around and thought hmm might as well publish it even if it's soso IMO only! I didn't like the female lead, she was a hypocrite! She talks about how people called her Barbie and assumed she wasn't smart bc she is a good looking blonde female, well she judged Vincent for his looks, money and things she read about him! Hypocrite! There really isn't any chemistry between the characters, the story had zero depth and between everyone and their mother writing billionaire books, this was a thumbs down from me!👎 I've read other books by this author and she's great, however this book will not be a re-read book I recommend. 😕

I’m not even sure where to start....
I first read Baby Mistake and then Fake It (both of which I loved) before I realized there was a third, or in this case a first book to this series. (This book was not listed in either book as being part of this series) I am so glad I read them out of order, had I started with this one I’m not sure I would have continued reading farther into the series.
What I liked.
I liked Alison in the beginning. She was strong, confident and knew who she was. Yes she was a bit uptight but I think that kept her focused.
I came to like Vince by the end of the story. He does have his redeeming qualities they were just well hidden and took some digging to find.
Elise. Vince’s bff’s fiancé. If not for her, we would never know the softer side of Vincent. All of his charitable contributions and the small things the press did not cover.
I know it’s difficult to get a lot of details and backstory in 150 pages, but I think the twenty questions games Vincent and Alison play help you understand where they come from, and learn a few fun facts about the characters.
It does end with an HEA.
What I didn’t like.
Vincent. He was the typical billionaire playboy. Used to getting what he wants with just a smirk and his boyish charm. He was foul mouthed, arrogant and crude.
While Alison started out strong, all Vincent had to do was smirk at her, hang his head and say he was sorry, for her to melt at his feet and forgive him. She became a doormat that he walked all over.
The cheating. I know most won’t consider what Vince did as cheating, I did. After first meeting Alison, he decides she’s going to be his. Yet in the next chapter she over hears him in the next room, having a good time with another woman. Not OK.
Lack of editing.
Changing POV’s. Sometimes chapter to chapter (which was fine). But switching POV’s in the same chapter, sometimes on the same page and even occasionally in the same paragraph. It was confusing, interrupted the flow of the story and made reading difficult.
Baby Mistake and Fake it were great stories. If you’re like me and need to read all the books in order, just be forewarned.

4.0 out of 5 starsThe Playboy Meets His Match!

When Alison was given the responsibilty for the planned renovation of several of the "Castille luxury hotels she knew that this would mark a turning point in her career, all she had to do was do her job well and keep things strictly business with it's CEO, Vincent Crawford. He was a wealthy businessman who was an "adrenaline junkie and playboy" in his private life and an astute self made man in the business world. When he first met Alison he was impressed with her beauty and her business persona but he also wanted to know her a person. She, unlike the girls that chased after him, was not impressed with his attitude to life and kept her emotions in check and presented a challenge he could not refuse. I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline was imaganiative and the characterisation showed good depth and emotion. I really liked Alison's attitude when she first met Vincent and her honesty when she realised that she loved him.

“Business & Pleasure” is a fun pleasurable read and a wonderful book to spend an evening with. Vincent Crawford is a wealthy successful billionaire hotel owner. Alison Ryder a beautiful intelligent, decorator who is hired by Vincent to help renovate his existing hotels around the world. When Vincent and Ryder meet, the chemistry between them is red hot. Vincent always gets what he wants and he wants Ryder. How will Ryder continue to deal professionally with Vincent and protect her heart when they are traveling everywhere together? But again, does she really want to keep resisting his charm? This well-written story with interesting characters and steamy romance is definitely worth reading.

Business and Pleasure by Alexis Winter was a very pleasant surprise. I'll admit that I am one of those persons who judge a book by its cover; therefore I really expected this story to be too steamy for my tastes. In actuality, the plot was exceptional and not dependent upon the sex scenes to keep it interesting. The few sex scenes in this novel were tastefully done and not overly graphic. I loved the heroine and hero. The author gave them depth and the characters were well-rounded. The plot had a strong beginning, middle and ending and flowed well. Alexis Winter wrote a fabulous story!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I really enjoyed reading about Alison and Vincent. Alison was a young woman full of promise in her profession. Her boss gave her an enormous assignment that could make or break her career. When she met Vincent to work on his hotels she wasn't sure if she should kiss him or slap him. She was definitely confused. Thank God for her younger sister who was the voice of reason for her. A very good read. A lovely love story.

This book has the two main characters, Vincent and Alison working closely together. She consistently pushes him away while he continues to pursue her. She is torn by her attraction to him and protecting her heart from this playboy billionaire. He never gives up on her and an unexpected event finally opens her eyes to her true feelings. As always, a warm HEA.

I enjoyed this story.

After breaking up the engagement Alison is not looking for a relationship or a fling.
Vincent is the typical billionaire playboy who has a different girl on his side.

Alison meets Vincent after she caught her fiancé with someone else. They have a nice chat but that’s it, since she has to board her flight.

Could Alison open up to the possibility of a new love?
Could Vincent changes his ways and show Alison that she means more than just a fling?
Could they have a relationship even thou Vincent is Alison’s new client?

Alison is an interior designer who was just handed the job that could make her career by her boss. She is in charge of updating some of the Crawford Hotel chain properties. Vincent is the CEO of Crawford Hotel, a billionaire who dated models and has an adventurous streak. He is intrigued by Alison but she has a job to do. Does he break down her barriers she has put in place?

Good read

Alison is an intelligent, independent, head strong interior designer who is chosen to revamp several hotels owned by Vincent Crawford, a self-made billionaire. Although Vincent attempts to woo Alison she seems immune to his charms. Will Vincent convince Alison he is not the playboy she reads about?

Great story. A little wordy but drama free. This story focuses more in the developing relationship of the main characters.

So it wasn’t bad. It was a decent read in the boss/employee genre. I didn’t connect with it well though or maybe I just didn’t feel the connection between them like I would have wanted. It felt more all about the sex, which is fine but I need a deeper connection between the characters. Could just be me though.

Also, other reviews talked about cheating/being with someone else while they were flirting. Maybe the book has been edited, but that isn’t what I read at all.

Wonderful heartwarming contemporary romance

I enjoyed this contemporary romance. It was hard to put down. The characters were great, the narrative well written, the dialogue was witty and engaging, and the storyline flowed smoothly. I loved the way the characters had to delve into their own limitation and backgrounds, overcome the obstacles placed before them and decide what they truly want. I can not wait to read the next book in the series.

Not your typical billionaire

Okay this was well written, had a great storyline, love when a man is brought too his knees by a woman, my only problem was the ending it was a happy ever after but it would have been nice to know if she started her own business, how they lived ect, other than that a really enjoyable piece.

It wasn't so bad it certainly wasnt my favourite in the series I hate the fact that Vince did such a juvenile thing in New York. It was uncharacteristic of a guy who is falling in love but perhaps that part was more realistic than we would like to admit. Sometimes men are ruled by their libido more than their hearts

Voluntary review of an ARC. Enjoyable quick light romance. No deep messages or meanings, but overall an interesting and sweet story. The characters are likeable and the story moves along smoothly, ending with a nice hea. Recommended for an afternoon read.

Slow Burn Billionaire Romance

Wow...this book was steamy hot but only after some good slow burn build up that gets you rooting for the main characters to get together. Loved every second of this book and very much looking forward to reading book 2 of this series.

Good Read

I liked this storyline and characters. There were a few misspelled words but not enough to drive me insane. I thought the main characters were going to draw out the attractions longer but was pleasantly surprised.

I believe this is one of Alexis steamiest ever! The best one liner ever said, had me laughing so hard and feeling the heat. In Hawaii, said by Vincent to Alison "By the time I'm done with you sweetheart, this whole fu$%# island will need a cigarette!" You go girl, thank you Ms Winter 5 star all the way!
