The first book had quite a few hard-to-find pieces, but I managed to make three of the ornaments and thought them quite lovely. Not only are there even more hard-to-find LEGO bricks in this book, but none of the finished ornaments really inspired me. Cute, but not must have.
Five stars for the book, docking a for the lack of materials/price of buying them so 4.5 stars
I was impressed by the items made in this book. Looking at them put together was amazing and looked impossible. There was a wide range of projects and interesting ways to use Lego blocks. The step by step directions show clearly how you would make each one.
They require a lot of specialty pieces and if you have all those, you most likely don’t need a book to tell you how to do them. But if you’re playing with Lego with your obsessed friend or family member and they’re making all these majorly creative things, they’d have speciality blocks and this book would help you keep up, at least a little.
I think this is a little better than book one. There is some overlap, like both have a gingerbread house, but they’re differently designed and built.
I like most of the Lego ideas in this book and am planning to order parts for at least one. But the non-holiday themed ones at the end of the book felt a little like cop outs. I mean it's cute to make mini fries but not sure I want that if I'm looking for ornaments for my tree.
I'd rather see non Christmas holidays if there were no more good Christmas ones to come up with after 2 volumes.
But I digress. The instructions are clear and come with a part list. You can also change it up if you want so you get a different accessory for Mrs. Snow or want to do a mix of reindeer with a Rudolph.
Having received a Christmas ornament or two as a gift, I was delighted to see one of the books that they probably used to create them. The assembling of the ornaments seem simple and a suggestion is given to how to obtain the necessary bricks. I just need to get an idea of how much is invested in this endeavor. Is it cheaper to make many of the same ornament or to order the bricks for different ornaments. Additional ornament designs can be found at the author's site: chrismcveigh.com
I checked this book out from Overdrive thinking I wanted to see if it would make a fun Christmas gift for my adult son and his teenagers. I will definitely order the book after looking through it. What amazing ornaments... Much more intricate than I could have imagined. This is book two, so, I think I should purchase book one for them. So much fun! Our family are big Lego fans, always have been!
This book is awesome! Several really cute ideas, really like the gingerbread house! I may need to look at my legos to see if I have the pieces. But hey, can always buy more legos, why not! I recommend this for a great family group project to make lego ornament for your tree. I may get a table top tree to decorate with just lego ornaments!
Great ornaments in Lego in this book. However there are many, many unique pieces required. If you have the special pieces, your decorations are going to look fantastic!
