Describes the causes and symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and suggests changes in diet and lifestyle to minimize and control symptoms without the use of medication.
Para nada fue lo que esperaba. Básicamente habla de la alimentación en todo el libro, aunque no podría decir que no aprendi nada, realmente no aprendí nada de lo que yo quería aprender.
Not what I thought. A chapter on proper diet and the Food Pyramid, a chapter on reducing sugar in a child's diet (kids' cereals advertised during cartoon shows have lots of sugar? Who knew?), not very helpful. If adjusting those aspects eliminates your child's ADD/ADHD symptoms, perhaps they didn't have the condition in the first place. If pinpointing and eliminating allergens in your child's diet or environment eliminates your child's ADD/ADHD symptoms, perhaps they didn't have the condition at all but had symptoms mimicking ADD/ADHD.
This is a nonfiction book that talks drug-free alternatives for attention-deficit disorders. The book not only talks briefly what ADD and ADHD are but it actually gives several ideas to help alleviate the symptoms through diet, exercise, therapy and vitamins. The back of the book includes recipes and meal plans to help incorporate some of these ideas too. I wouldn't mind owning this book.
Very good read and gave me lots to think about. Though I'd like to read something along the same lines that is not 12 years since publication. I'm wondering how much has changed and become known since then.
