”Crime A Buck Taylor Novel by Chuck Morgan is a compelling crime novel set in Aspen, Colorado; a tale of murder and a gritty investigation, filled with twists and surprises that set the reader’s heart racing.” Reviewed by Divine Zape for Readers' Favorite The lady Ranger came out of nowhere. One minute they were dragging the elk back to camp and the next minute there she was standing on the little ridge with her stupid dog. All she had to do was walk away. Her and that stupid dog. But she didn’t. They had hidden in the bushes. She should have walked right by them and not seen them, but no. The dog had to sniff them out. He had to start barking. She could have kept walking, but she must have sensed them because she pulled the gun out of her holster. They couldn’t let her find them or the cabin. The first rifle shot hit her in the thigh. There was no ballistic armor around her thigh. She went down hard and rolled down the ridge into the ravine. The dog tried to go after her, but the second bullet hit the dog right in the chest. The dog went down hard too. There was a lot of blood. They broke cover and rushed over to the edge of the ravine. The lady Ranger was trying to reach her pistol with one hand, and she was trying to key the mic on her shoulder with the other. When she saw them, she just froze. Blood was pumping out of her leg. A crimson fountain exploding with each heartbeat. She looked at them and began to plead with them to help her. She had tears in her eyes. They just looked at her. The lady Ranger started to shake. Her breathing got shallow. She seemed so helpless, just lying there in the ravine. The Teacher had taught them not to let anything they hunted suffer. They understood the kill shot. He raised up his rifle and without any hesitation or doubt shot her in the forehead.

This is, arguably, the worst book I've read. It actually consists of two independent stories, neither of which is brought to a satisfactory conclusion. The characters are shallow and the punctuation, spelling and grammar are horrendous. It reads like something my seventh grade grandson would write. The idea had merit, but nothing else about the book did.
Crime Delayed doesn’t waste any time pulling readers right into the action. We jump into the case of the missing wildlife ranger, finding out right away that she is more than just missing. Taking place in the mountains of Aspen, a massive manhunt ensues for the missing ranger, and Agent Buck Taylor of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation volunteers to help. What he uncovers over the course of the story will leave the town, and everyone involved, shaken. Chuck Morgan has penned an impressive and compelling story filled with twists and turns that will unravel decades of kidnappings and murders. The story starts off slowly and it takes a minute to get familiar with the voice and tone, but after a few pages I was good to go.
I liked Buck a lot and, other than the major story itself, he was my favorite part. A plainspoken man, a father and a widower, Buck was as intriguing as the more nefarious characters in Crime Delayed. And let’s not forget the townsfolk Chuck Morgan threw in, some for comic relief and others to give us a snapshot of the small town and her people. As Buck’s drug cartel case and the missing ranger case inch closer together, danger takes a front seat to everything else, even the grief he can’t seem to shake off over his dead wife. I didn’t know how to review this story at first without giving anything away, but it’s a good story and a good read. Crime Delayed is a unique story with plenty of twists to keep you interested.
This is the first book I read from this autor and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Amazing job! if you like mystery this one is definitely a must read!
I found this to really interesting story. The characters were also interesting. I loved the description of all the places in Colorado. As I live in Colorado and have been to several of the places described .
All of the books are very interesting and informative. Lots of guesses on who was the killer. Lots of departments Forest service & National Guard officers Park Service, FBI
This book was written like a report instead of a book. With a tremendous amount of characters, many of them are never heard of again after a lengthy life description of each one.
