Worth: Divine Beginnings

Rate this book

I am a princess! Little girls cherish this simple truth, but as the years advance and childhood fades, it becomes increasingly difficult to hold on to this statement. However, the eternal reality of those simple words is indisputable. Women are princesses, divine children of noble heritage. In her debut book, Wendy Ellison reminds women of that worth—constant, unchanging, and inherent as daughters of God. Now is the time for women to claim that marvelous heritage, to be kinder to self and others, and to truly live in a manner befitting royalty. Featuring scriptural references, prophetic quotes, and personal insights, Worth: Divine Beginnings, Happy Endings will inspire readers to see the evidence of individual worth all around—in the love of our Savior, in our Father’s plan of salvation, and in countless other ways too often overlooked. By learning to hold on to the true definition of worth and to silence those outside influences that interfere with self-esteem, every woman can be empowered to dismiss self-doubt and to embrace the princess within.

Debut author Wendy Ellison has written a book that will influence, encourage, and inspire women to be reminded and become the princesses that they truly are! In each chapter, with the different and similar chapters, Ellison reminds women of their potential, worth, and divinity. This book was written to influence and encourage women everywhere, especially LDS women, reminding them of the princesses that they truly are. This is a quick little pick me up book that would be great for young women and Relief Society Sisters. For women needing a bit of a spiritual lift, this is just the read.

I really enjoyed reading this one. I like the whole idea of the each of us being a princess. It is interesting how many little girls believe they are a princess without anyone ever telling them. It makes me wonder if that’s something that they haven’t forgotten yet from their sojourn in Heaven before they were born.

The author did a fantastic job of using quotes from talks by LDS General Authorities, scriptures and her own experiences to illustrate her points. Using all of these together makes the book really readable. This is one that all young women and Relief Society sisters alike should take the time to read and work to understand that we all really do have a great worth to our Heavenly Father.

Make sure to take the time to read this book! You’ll learn tons from it.

Applicable to everyone but written especially for LDS (Mormon) women, WORTH is an inspiring little book. At just over 200 pages, it's an easy read that will leave you feeling uplifted and empowered. It reminds us that we are daughters of a caring Heavenly Father who loves us no matter what -- by keeping that truth always in our minds and hearts, we can avoid the discouraging and degrading messages about ourselves as women that we receive from the world. It can also help us battle negative self-talk and the feelings of inadequacy and judgement with which we so often pummel ourselves. Readable and relatable, this is a great pick-me-up, especially suited for Sabbath Day reading but perfect for everyday reading as well.

Worth: Divine Beginnings, Happy Endings by Wendy Ellison is a very mellow read which I found to be really soothing. Even through this book has a very soothing effect it isn't dull at all! Mrs. Ellison has great insights on one's personal worth. Through her share of personal stories and understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Ellison helps readers see their divine worth. The author also helps readers understand who they are and how they can help them meet their full potential as daughters of God.
