I write the kinds of books I want to read. Fast-paced books with lots of world-building, snarky heroines, and swoony heroes. I love story, pop culture, gossip, and baked goods. I’m a modern-day hippy and certified LEGO nerd.

I live in the Austin, Texas hill country, with my geeky husband and two extremely geeky kids. We have dogs, chickens, cats, and more LEGOs than should be allowed by law. Oh, and I stress bake. So if my characters talk about food a lot, that’s why.

I really enjoyed The Tycoon's Temporary Baby by Emily Mckay. It had a standard marriage of convenience but I enjoyed the execution.

Jonathan is missing the wonder of his executive assistant Wendy, since she's gone to Texas for some family funeral. He sees her in office then dressed casually, and the sparks that he's tried to ignore for five years come back but she is not alone, but has baby. You see Wendy comes from wealthy but interfering family and her now dead cousin gave her the guardianship of her baby daughter.
Wendy wants to keep the baby but knows her family will fight her and she will have to quit the job she loves and that makes her feel she belongs.

Jonathan hastily offers to be her husband to convince her family she can be a good parent. Wendy kind of calls him too restrained and a cold fish and of course he proves otherwise with a kiss. They are hardly married when Wendy's family descends on them.

I enjoyed the book, it was a quick read. Jonathan kind of was a buttoned up guy but I really enjoyed the story and now want to check out if I missed the stories of the other two business partners.

EDIT: The friends stories are Affair with the Rebel Heiress and The Billionaire's Bridal Bid, Baby Benefits also features the heroine from the Affair with the Heiress.

I don't normally give these books a five star rating, as I usually find them lacking in something. I loved this one. It had the witty banter, wasn't too serious, had some laugh out loud moments and an adorable baby. (It wasn't really about the baby!) Jonathon and Wendy made the perfect couple. She stood up for him and to him, and he finally comes to terms with some issues from his past. Absolutely loved it and it was a nice, quick read.

3.5-3.7

This book went beyond my expectations for something so short. Not only did it have some of my favourite tropes, but I really liked the twist of Wendy's backstory. If I had my way, there would've been more fleshed out interactions with the leads and their adorable daughter, but the mentions melted me. Would definitely recommend!

A sweet contemporary romance, The Tycoon’s Temporary Baby is a fast read with a nice happy ending.

Wendy and Jonathon have worked side by side for years, ignoring the chemistry between them. So when their personal lives throw them into marriage what can they do but finally give into that attraction? It is fun to see how they both struggle yet want the same thing.

The Tycoon’s Temporary Baby is fun to read, and will leave you smiling. There are a couple cheesy lines, but even the characters saying them recognize that and admit to it. It simply makes the dialogue so much cuter.

Started out okay but the ending got too convoluted. Too many plots that didn't have enough time to grow and be wrapped up. Nothing special about the couple together or as characters.

Synopsis:
A story about Wendy Leland, who inherits a niece – baby Peyton – after her cousin sister's death, together with an imminent custody battle. She works as an executive assistant for Jonathon Bagdon – partner at FMJ – a workaholic who can’t think of what he would do without his very dependable assistant, Wendy. But Wendy has already decided that, to care for Peyton, and avoid a custody battle she either has to leave her beloved job and settle for the family business or whip up a husband rich enough to please her family (coz her family comes from old money). And Jonathon has the perfect solution – marriage – not in the strictest sense of the word, but a business arrangement.

Review:
I love office romances – yes, I am very cliched in that sense – and when the executive assistant is more important than the boss, I love it even more!
It took three friends to take FMJ to great heights – Ford, Matt, and Jonathon (they named it as such). Ford's story is there in Affair with the Rebel Heiress, while Matt's story is in The Billionaire's Bridal Bid (can't wait to read their stories).

'The second temp had accidentally sent R&D's latest prototype to Beijing instead of Bangalore.'
Ahh…when you read a city's name from your country in a book belonging to foreign shores, you are all smiles!

And, then -
'I can't cook worth a damn, but Claire could give McGyver a feast out of the barest cupboard.'
They mention one of your favorite shows – the new one though – I haven't watched the old one.

At first, Jonathon seems a lost cause.
'He swallowed again, forcing his gaze back up to her face, searching for something to say. Something other than "Lose the shirt".'
He didn’t realize for nine years how beautiful his assistant is, and suddenly he's besotted.

The book is a laugh riot, especially in terms of Jonathon's reactions to baby Peyton.
'If she was going to break into tears, why couldn't she have done it when Ford was here to deal with her? Ford had three sisters, a mother, a stepmother, a wife and a daughter. Surely all of those women in his life had better prepared him for dealing with this sort of thing.

'She had a Voldemort for President coffee mug in the bottom drawer, her Bose iPod dock, a tub of Just Fruit strawberries and in the very back, a bag of Ghirardelli chocolate caramels.'
(I have a new type of chocolate to try.)

A complete twist in the tale where emotions of the hero are in perspective, to keep him from falling in love, and with two other ladies (the hero's best friends' wives), warning her against it.

'The bedside lamp was on and in her other hand, she held a Kindle.'
And here I am, reading it on my Kindle, lying on my bed.

I loved Wendy's family. Moreover, it's always the woman who's in unrequited love, but, surprise, surprise, that was the case with the man here. I was a bit tired of heroines moping all the time, but Wendy, she is a breath of fresh air, with her cheeky lines (so much, that I decided that this one is for keeps, so I bought a paperback.)

Kudos to Emily McKay for this hilarious book, 'peppermint pop rocks' indeed.
But, the ending, I wanted a prolonged ending.

P.S. Not that the following books are related, but it will be better to understand the friendly relations if read in this particular order.

Messina Brothers' Duology, namely
Baby on the Billionaire's Doorstep, and
Baby Benefits (where Kitty from Affair with the Rebel Heiress has quite a role to play)

and then only read,

Affair with the Rebel Heiress
The Billionaire's Bridal Bid
The Tycoon's Temporary Baby

To keep custody of her baby niece, Wendy Leland needs a rich, successful husband--fast. But when Wendy's "very" rich, "very" successful, very "sexy" boss offers himself as temporary husband, she's reluctant. In such close quarters, reining in her crush will be tough--and necessary. Because tightly controlled tycoon Jonathon Bagdon can only be proposing for one reason: to stop his star assistant from leaving. But when he plays the role of newlywed with passion, it becomes crystal clear that going from boardroom to bedroom will change "both" their bottom lines.

Although the boss/assistant story line has been used repeatedly, but McKay does a nice job of mixing it up with humorous situations. This is another book in the Billionaires and Babies series.

I rate this 3,5 star.

i love that the hero proposal was a surprise to the heroine and the heroine not fall in love for the boss while they working together for 5years.
i also love that the hero can handle the baby, it's tire job to handle the baby alone and i like when the hero protective with the heroine

Both of hero and heroine have family problem that they solve while they married. The heroine's family is overbearing and the hero family is feeling neglected when the hero go out from the house and never visit.

There anti climax story on the last part of the story, so i not rate it 4star.

This was actually quite cute. The ending needed to be longer and Wendy's family need to get some punishment for how bad they acted towards Wendy.
