Paranormal investigators Lacey Fitzpatrick and medium Sam Firecloud discover their reputation has spread around the world when they get a surprise call to investigate ghosts in an Irish castle. They’re even more surprised when they learn it’s the Castle Fitzpatrick, the ancestral home of the Fitzpatrick name, and Lacey’s hopeful she can uncover some of her own family’s history. But while they’re researching that and the ghosts that Sam’s walk has revealed, they get unexpected resistance from the castle owners. If Sam is wrong about the impressions he’s received from the spirits, the releasement won’t work, and the ghosts will be doomed to walk the castle forever.

Can you believe this is book number nine in the series? And I wondered, again, how was this pair going to hold my interest? By going overseas, of course!

Pleasantly surprised to realise that their skills are garnering worldwide acclaim, Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud are asked if they might offer their assistance to release the ghosts from a castle in Ireland. This is of some personal interest to Lacey because she has Irish ancestry. But even more exciting for her is that Sam’s talents are required in none other than Castle Fitzpatrick. Could it be that their trip for professional purposes might involve some investigation of a personal nature?

It was fun to journey with Sam and Lacey away from their homeland.

Yet another quick, easy and enjoyable read.

Castle Walk by Melissa Bowersock

Lacey is thrilled when she and Sam have the opportunity to go to Ireland, all expenses paid, to release a couple of ghosts in an old castle. Castle Fitzpatrick is outside of Dublin and being renovated as a tourist attraction as well as a Bed and Breakfast. Needless to say the ghosts have been in residence for centuries and it is almost impossible to learn who they are and their stories. However, Sam is an optimist and is sure they can do it together. Sam and Lacey both become unnerved when Lacey gains a ghostly suiter who seems to have the run of the castle, including their private suite.

On a more personal note Lacey is hoping to be able to trace her family’s genealogy farther than she has been able to get on the internet. With what little info she has, she felt like it would be a pipedream to be able to trace her family back to Castle Fitzpatrick. However, that was not her goal. With the castle owner’s archivist, Oswald, Lacey is able to learn more about the ghosts. With castle employee, Harley, Sam and Lacey are led to a small abbey outside Dublin to meet Brother Jonas who has a hand-written history from which Lacey learns more about her ancestors than she ever dreamed possible.

“Castle Walk” is a lovely feel good mystery after the last harrowing story, “Blood Walk.” Both story arcs in “Castle Walk” are woven together seamlessly. The dialogue is engaging, the secondary characters are well written, and realistic. The descriptive prose puts the readers right in the setting. I highly recommend this series to lovers of mystery’s with an element of the paranormal.

FYI: “Castle Walk” is the ninth book in Ms. Bowersock’s A LACEY FITZPATRICK and SAM FIRECLOUD MYSTERY SERIES. I would recommend reading from the beginning to get the full benefit of Sam and Lacey’s storyline. **Originally written for "BigAl’s Books and Pals" book blog. Lacey stopped being a homicide detective but sleuthing of another kind is what she does now as a private investigator with a twist. Sam has been sensitive to spirits for as long as he can remember and now feels that he can't be reliable as a construction worker and will now pursue his craft of making beautiful Navajo pots. Together they work to solve whatever needs solving that needs Sam's special talent with spirits and Lacey's help. This time they leave for Ireland and a castle that might have been in Lacey's ancestry. Some spirits were helped easily, Lacey learned a lot about her ancestry, and one very sad ghost thought that she was actually his long dead love. Excellent story well told!
Laura Wilson is perfect for the narration!

CASTLE WALK best yet!

Melissa Bowersock's "Castle Walk" of her Lacey Fitzpatrick & Sam Firecloud mystery series is my favorite of her first 9, those I have read. Her descriptions of Irish countryside, the castle, the meals, aristocracy transported me to the home of my ancestors. Sam & Lacey's work to find & try to release the ghosts as always fascinates.

When the owners of the Castle Fitzpatrick in Ireland call Lacey Fitzpatrick and Sam Firecloud to come investigate some ghosts in the castle, Sam and Lacey are surprised. They had no idea that anyone had heard of their paranormal investigation business outside the western US. Lacey is even more surprised by the castle name. Is this a connection to her own family tree? She’s about to find out because they accept the offer and away they go.

Nice! I like how this one weaves Lacey’s family history into it. I’ve seen Sam’s family on the reservation, so it’s only fair to get some info on Lacey. And it’s a doozy! The ghosts are heart breaking though. I like the side characters and hope to see them again in another book. All-in-all a fast intriguing read.

Melissa is really talented and I love her books. I love how Lacey got to expand her family, it would have been nice for her to have done that adventure before the wedding then she would have had more family on her side. I did really enjoy that there is a castle in her family, who wouldn't want to find out that their descendants owned a castle. I really enjoyed the part where one of the ghosts thought Lacey was someone he loved in his lifetime, I believe in reincarnation and love that aspect.

Good series.

I have read nine books in this series in three days. There are not a lot of characters to keep straight.
I like the way the story goes at a good pace and stays interesting. Each book has Lacey and Sam helping a ghost with it's reason for being stuck and not passing on. Sam does the walk through and gets feelings and information. Lacey does research to find the name and history. Then they talk to the ghost by name and the problem, which seems to settle the ghost's reason for staying. I enjoy the books because the ghosts are not dangerous like some books.

Good story

Overall its a good story. I was disappointed to read that all of a sudden Sam was going to earn a living as a potter when in the book when they were on the reservation they joked that Sam was a failure as a potter.

Trip to Ireland to lay spirits to rest and search for Lacey's past

Great trip to the old sod. Crossing class lines, smallpox, sexual indiscretions, and more mysteries to solve continue to increase my appreciation for this series.

Human nature

Love the way Sam and Lacey conduct their research and releases. Harley described it well...respectful, gentle, compassionate. The responses of the ghosts is likewise fascinating.

Sam and Lacey go overseas to Ireland in this book. Lacey gets to learn more about her ancestors while they try to clear an old castle of its ghosts. They learn that the nobility can be stuffy about airing dirty laundry but ultimately they get the job done and get to do some exploring.

I LOVE this series. The premise, the characters, the pave of the stories, as well as the attention to detail and continuity are amazing. I plan to read the whole series, then check out Ms Bowersock's other works.
