Rate this book
Alana might be gone, but the world hasn’t forgotten what she did. The damage is done, and the world is quickly spiraling toward a war that will threaten the survival of humans and vampires alike.

An anti-vampire organization, known as the Assassins of Light, has emerged again after centuries of lying in wait, and for reasons no one understands, Rose Foster is their new target. As Rose struggles with her growing feelings for the Viking warrior, Kara Unnarsdóttir, and her own inner turmoil, she must find a way to protect the people she loves from the Assassins of Light.

Kara Unnarsdóttir tries to protect Rose from afar by utilizing her impressive network of spies, but her investigations into the Assassins of Light lead her to the realization that the extremist organization is closer to Rose than she originally thought.

In this third installment of the Creatures of Darkness series, the world will find out what happens when tragedy meets the power of the Eklektos…

Creatures of Darkness is back for a third book and it's better than ever.

Hoping that an all-out vampire war has been averted with Alana's death, Rose, Kallis, and Eric return to the States. Peace is still elusive, however, when the Assassins show what humans can do with centuries of training and planning behind them. All too soon, Kara and Aaron are in their home, recruiting for the war effort, planning counter-attacks, and reaching out hands of alliance with the nearby Village of the Undead. Meanwhile, the blood bond between Kara and Rose is overwhelming in its intensity, Rose's brother has important Sibling Teasing Duties(TM) to get to, Audrey & Owen are back, and Rose's eyes are...turning black???

There is A LOT going on in this novel, and Jackson weaves her plotlines with aplomb. The characters sparkle off the page, and Jackson does not shy away from nuance in backstory and action. The world builds with the Village of the Undead, and it was fun to see how more modern vampires lived. As for the fight between the Assassins and the vampires, I admired how Jackson didn't shy away from real world parallels. In fact, she fully embraces the fantasy's genre's ability to address contemporary problems through a lens of unreality. It made my heart twist, and I was all the more invested.

Putting on a more fannish hat, can I say!!! Kara and Rose!!! So good together!!! AHHHH, love them to bits!!!! Creatures of Darkness is still going strong, and I can already tell the finale will leave me a crying wreck. I'm going to miss this series when it's over.

Where do I start? There’s so much going on in this series. Like I didn’t realize *how much* was going on in this series until this book and the dots start connecting and wow, my head’s spinning. But I guess the word that comes to mind first is empowering. If you’re a woman or queer or..literally anyone, these characters will empower you. In the lead, you got the sarcastic af genius bisexual hero Rose, and the badass lesbian Viking warrior Kara. And those aren’t even the only empowering characters, just the lead duo. Not to mention how relatable Rose’s mental struggles are.
And now to the romance-so satisfying! I’ve been waiting for the heat to turn up between those two since Kara jumped in the middle of that fight in book 2. Seriously. The tension about killed me. But the author delivers all the heat we’ve been needing and more in this one. So bravo!
Great series! Can’t wait for the conclusion!

This series just gets better and better.

Rose and Kara have got to be one of my favourite couples, they're just so cute and supportive of one another - faults and all, it's so refreshing. After having felt the kind of loss that Rose goes through, I could understand the anger that went along with her grief... I only wish I had someone or something to focus the blame on.

I'm looking forward to reading the fourth book.

I reaaaally liked this book. I could not put it down once I started and I wholeheartedly recommend it to people who like supernatural books (especially with a F/F romance).

It is sometimes funny, sometimes serious, and for me the only negative point is Kallias whom I found so very annoying. Although I understand his use in driving some part of the plot forward, he is overbearing, takes Rose for granted and I’m very happy that she ends up with Kara and I’m really hoping, that’s the end of the Kallias/Rose romantic story arc. I feel like they have clashing personalities (and not in a hot way) and zero chemistry together. On the other hand, the chemistry between Kara and Rose is sizzling, and while there were sometimes when I wanted to slap Rose for staying with Kallias for such a long time and not giving Kara a chance, there were some hot scenes that resulted from that tension and now that they’re together, I’m happy :)

I can’t wait for the 4th book to come out !

Okay this one is the best one yet! The romance between Rose and Kara is beautifully done! Its emotional AF with the strongest chemistry ever and honestly so sexy! 😍 This one shows depth to the characters that is only hinted at in the first books and it answers alot of questions you might have about the characters. Rose and Kara are so badass and hilarious. And FF romance on top of everything else? Couldn’t ask for more! The author totally shows her strengths in this one. This book will break your heart and mend it all over again. Emotional and queer AF, your gonna wanna read this series!

My favorite so far! This book was entertaining but it also tackled serious issues- mental illnesses, loss, bigotry, hate and doing the right thing when no option looks good. There were parts that were so real and emotional it brought me to tears. I’m happy with the direction of the romance. We see a softer side of Kara and a bolder side of Rose. I love this one and can’t wait for the next.

Is it possible to give this series more than 5 stars? Absolutely love it and all of the characters! Especially Rose! She goes through so much character development throughout the series, she's a great fictional role model to have!

This was my favorite so far. Kara is such an amazing character. She just works so well with Rose. While I didn’t like Kallias for Rose, I think Kara complements her perfectly.

Rose is really starting to come into herself a bit more. I loved the dynamic between all the characters. The dialog is still one of the things I enjoyed most about this series.

As I delved into "Assassins of Light," the third installment in Brittany Jackson's 'Creatures of Darkness' series, I found myself once again captivated by the gripping opening and heart-pounding conclusion. Jackson's ability to draw me in from the start and keep me hooked until the very end is a testament to her skill as a writer.

While I must admit that some parts in the middle of the book felt a bit repetitive, I'm glad I persevered because the payoff in the final chapters was well worth it. Jackson's knack for crafting thrilling conclusions had my heart racing as I turned the pages, eager to see how it would all unfold.

One aspect of the series that I truly appreciate is Jackson's inclusion of polyamory and queerness, adding depth and authenticity to the characters and their relationships. Kara, with her sharp wit, charm, and undeniable badassery, quickly became my favorite vampire in the series. Although Rose's unwavering kindness could be a bit grating at times, her journey of self-discovery and the development of her powers led to some truly intense and gory battles that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Minus 1 star because I was hoping for more smut and less repetition.

Brilliant 3rd Sequel

Continuing Rose’s journey, now with Kara by her side, this book has clearly set the scene for the fourth and final instalment of this brilliant series.
I have loved all the books so far, but if I have one gripe, it’s this: Rose is meant to be this preternaturally gifted and intelligent young woman, but she seems to be incredibly dumb when it comes to understanding some of the things that are happening to her and an awareness of her own power and status as the Eklektos. Nevertheless, this is a beautifully written series, creating such a realistic vision of the world around us that I will be looking out for vampires on every street corner, in future!

Best book in the series by far

I don't even know where to start when describing how amazing this book was first. Oh my God it finally happened. I'm not going to spoil it but it happened. I'm so happy that is the worst cliffhanger in the world. Okay, next book now lol

This series keeps on getting better and better. Rose and Kara are adorable, and the entire cast and world is just so well done. I have been engrossed in the series since the first book, and this one is no exception. It was very enjoyable to read, and it leads straight into the final book of the series.
