He's all business and she's got a lot to prove. Love was not on the agenda.
Jill Harris is determined to prove she deserves her position at her father’s consulting firm, so the last thing she has time for is dating. Since her only experience with love ended in heartbreak, she isn’t tempted to break her own rule—until she meets Blake McDaniel. When she’s asked to take a job working with Blake, it’s a great step in her career, but the more time she spends around the attractive, determined billionaire, the harder it is to remember why she wants to stay single.
Blake has one rule for himself when it comes to relationships: He won’t date a woman who’s already married to her career. After watching his mother’s many failed marriages, he knows it just won’t work. But then Jill comes into his life, brilliant and capable…and entirely too fascinating. Even though he has no intention of falling for her, he just can’t seem to stay away. But when suspicion clouds their future, will he be able to follow his heart?
I give up. I do not know what is the story is all about. This is my first book by Miss Pennington. I was looking for author that is new to me.
The Truth about Billionaires is confusing. There is so much dialog/ conversation inside the story and yet I can not relate to their chemistry nor connection to the story.
Jill and Blake are both completely committed to their careers and are very determined individuals. Not only are they each professionally driven, but they both have strict rules regarding relationships. They are similar in many ways, but very different in others.
I love that Jill and Blake have a mutual attraction and that they work hard to be themselves. Their banter is witty and fun and their chemistry is great. But... one little issue: Blake has a tendency to jump to conclusions. I get that he has trust issues, but it made me feel a little mad at him. Thinking about that makes me realize that this is a great book because it did evoke some pretty deep and various emotions--obviously.
I love a journey of growth and self-discovery and found that within these pages. This is a fun book to escape into.
Content: mild, clean romance
*I received a copy, which didn't influence my opinion*
Jill Harris has had to make a lot of sacrifices in her life to get to where she is within her father's company. Everyone thinks that being the daughter of the owner, her position was handed to her on a silver platter. But that's the farthest from the truth. She has had to work harder than anyone else and has been groomed to take over since she was in middle school. If she's going to prove herself to her father and the board, she has got to stay focused and not allow for any distractions.
Blake McDaniel has had to rebuild his family's business after his mother was convicted of fraud and sent to prison. He's not only worked his tail off to get things back up and running, but he's also taken over guardianship of his 17 year old sister, Hayden. After seeing all of his mother's failed marriages, he's sworn off women who are already married to their career. He's got too much on his plate already so dating is the furthest thing from his mind.
From the moment Jill and Blake meet, their connection is instantaneous. There is no denying the chemistry between them. But she's got a lot to prove and he refuses to set himself up for heartbreak. They try their best to stay away from each other but the heart wants what the heart wants. They'll just have to take it one day at a time and see where it can lead them. The more time they spend together, the harder it is to see a life without the other in it.
But when suspicious activity is brought to Blake's attention regarding Jill, he'll have to decide if he's going to believe the accusations or if he's going to believe in the woman he's been falling in love with. He'll need to trust in her and in his heart if they're going to have a chance at a HEA.
*dreamy sigh*
Oh how I loved Jill and Blake! The banter between them from their first meeting was perfect and instantly had me rooting for them. These two were perfect for each other. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. This was such a fun book and I devoured it in one sitting! If I had one complaint it would be that I wish we would've been able to see Jill and Hayden's relationship develop more in the book. I know there was a lot going on already but I think it would've made their relationship in the end more believable.
This has been a fun series to read! I'm definitely looking forward to reading more by Ms. Pennington. She has done an excellent job of sucking me into her books. Can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!
And can we just take a minute to admire these two right here? I pretty much saw them from the beginning and I love it when that happens! It makes the book that much more enjoyable for me! :)
This was exactly the kind of diversion I was looking for today. I loved the zingy attraction and the build up of tension. It was yummy. I'm sad it's over. I picked this one up on KU.
This one I enjoyed. It was fun to read about these two strong full characters. Neither wanted to give in to the tension and attraction but of course they do:} Yummy kisses follow. This is just a light fluffy silly romance:} Good for a stressful weekend.
I enjoy billionaire fantasies like this one. I call them fantasies because I don’t believe there are that many billionaires available that are single and younger than their mid 30’s. I enjoy stories with a strong heroine, and Jill Harris is a strong heroine who can hold her own against a strong hero like Blake McDaniel. Sparks fly as they interact. This clean romance is one I heartily recommend.
This was such a fun story- I really enjoyed reading about Jill and Blake. I liked how smart and put-together Jill was. She is sharp and ready to go and has a keen eye for business, yet knows that making personal relationships with those she works with is important. Blake was full of surprises and the chemistry between him and Jill was toe-curling. This was a great clean romance- now I need to read the first book in this series!!
Great story, great romance, great H and h. But it was nearly to the 70% point, before they even kissed. For me, for a romance to move that slowly along, is just entirely too slow. But that's just me.
Michelle Pennington’s stories are always enjoyable and entertaining! I really appreciate the world building and character development in this romance between a traveling business consultant and a billionaire who ends up working with her during the process of acquiring some new businesses to oversee. This workplace romance has a bit of a forbidden nature to it and the main female character insists she does not want to pursue a serious relationship with anyone due to her lack of time for anything serious and the main guy agrees until they start to spend more time in one another’s company. There are lots of sweet and funny moments, including the food eating bet that turned into a few very entertaining moments! I enjoyed this romance and really appreciate my library having an audiobook recording. The story was short, sweet and had a great entertaining romance. I appreciate that while the series is all about billionaires, the nature of the story and the way it’s written never even compares to the creepiness that something like Fifty Shades of Grey has. So so glad that I discovered this author and the series! I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from the series!
Modern romance with completely actions and a fairytale ending, what is not to love?
Blake was not what one would expect. He met under unusual circumstances and Nate and Blake became successful business partners. Nate wife has some match making plans with her best friend Jill and Blake. A new business venture between Hate n Blake out Jill in a precarious position. Then too off the attraction, business and pleasure should never mix. Some roller coaster moments, single parent, prison, workaholic betrayal, trust and truth. Moving story. Page to page flew by.Violence 0, sex only sizzle kissing so clean romance written well and not missed steamy scenes.

Another fun read by this author. There were a few typos, such as words missing in sentences, in the first half of the book. Fun, heated dialogue. Sizzle. My only complaint was I couldn't figure out how Ivey overheard Jill and Trevor's conversation on the balcony at the ball when she was supposedly inside dancing with Blake. I liked how Jill's sunny, friendly personality won people over and made them happy. And of course I liked that Blake was a cowboy at heart, a hard worker, and had high morals. I really liked that it was clean. No language. No sex. I didn't want to put it down. I will probably read this one again.
Jill is a friend and legal advisor for Charlotte, and when husband Nate wants to scale down his business she is brought in. To work with his advisor Blake. He is surprised of who she is, and at a young age. They continually clash, and even her dad wants someone with more experience to take over. Interesting of how she works to see what is going on with one of the company’s. The jealousy of Blake gets to him , not realizing she wants to know the people, and being friendly, gives her more of an idea of what is going on. Before love is admitted, he accuses her, now will that be the final straw, or a test of their love.
I was excited to read another book by Michelle Pennington. I have really enjoyed everything of hers I have read. Blake and Jill sucked me into their story. Both characters are heavily invested in their careers, yet the attraction they share is so strong they eventually reevaluate putting their career ahead of relationships. I enjoyed many of the characters in this book and hope to get to know some of them in their own stories. Jill's strength and independence make her feisty and fun. Blake's strength and protectiveness are endearing. I enjoyed their banter and their connection. I hope to continue to get peaks into the life they share in future books.
I had a hard time getting into this book. I also got a bit confused here and there with who was whom. So why the 4 stars? Because I was a bit distracted and didn't focus like I should have been plus the end made it worth the push to stay focused. I love this guy. I was mad at her until the truth came out, which seemed abrupt but hey it's the end, be abrupt. I ended up enjoying it. I may read it again one day and be better focused wondering why I ever reviewed this book this way, but for now this is the honest truth. Still good!
This book was so well written. I liked it better than the first book. The chemistry and magnetic pull between them was awesome from the get go. I loved the heated kisses that still stayed clean. Fair warning, there were quite a few innuendos sprinkled through the book. Nothing explicit or naughty though. Very tactful.
BUT I was extremely disappointed with chapter 17 and how Jill decided to handle the Trevor situation. It wasn't appropriate from an HR perspective and there are other ways she could have handled it.
Even though this is totally unbelievable and has a few edit errors, I still like these books. There is some fun chemistry in this second story about Blake and Jill. I didn't know if I'd like this story going in because I wasnt a huge fan of Blake in the first book. But I think I liked this better tha. The first. Yes, it's a bit of a mindless read, but that is what makes it fun.
Blake and Jill, both secondary characters in book 1, finally have their chance at romance in book 2. After 'not so pleasant' introductions Blake is forced to work with Jill on a business merger for Nate Haverton. Blake discovers that Jill isn't just a pretty face, but an intelligent and savvy business professional, and he finds he's very attracted to her. Unfortunately, Jill is married to her job and travels constantly. How can you have a solid, serious relationship when the person you're falling for won't settle down?
This was such a great book! It grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me up late reading when I really should've been sleeping. I loved the characters and how they both were working so hard to prove themselves. Their witty interactions made me smile and the kissing scenes were the perfect blend of steamy yet clean and appropriate. I would definitely recommend this book!
This book sucks you in from the beginning and keeps you enthralled until the very last word. Character development was great! You really feel like you know the people in the story and you want to cheer them on! The story was perfectly balanced between storyline and character development and romance! I hated to see it end and can’t wait to read the 3rd book!
This is the second book from this series that I've read. It is a sweet romance that moves along smoothly. I do think she forgave him too quickly after all even his security man told him to hold back and wait to learn more about what's going instead of jumping to conclusions. I've already gotten the third book to read. I recommend this book.
Blake's friend and business associate has hired a Marketing Consultant to audit and make recommendations on two of his companies to make them more marketable. And although he and Jill the consultant seemed to rub each other the wrong way, they soon realize they are equally attracted to each other.
The Truth about Billionaires ( Southern Billionaires Book 2)
Awesomeness,Drama, Funny and challenging, these words make this authors books happen! Her stories sing to the reader! Can't wait to see what next in the next book in this series! Lovely lady meets billionaire who finds out what happens in his company that he wants to buy or keep! ENJOY!!
Jill is Charlotte’s friend, and Nate asks Jill to help him with his business. Nate needs Jill to work with Blake and report back to him. Blake is intrigued by Jill, he invites her to stay at his pool house while she is in town working for Nate. Jill reluctantly agrees.
I loved, loved, loved, this book the tone, the characters, the way you can feel every emotion their having, it was an amazing read, the depth of the love Blake had for Jill you wish you had that in any lifetime. I loved how it showed the struggle of love and work and it being so relatable. INCREDIBLE author this book was phenomenal!
I loved this book! Michelle Pennington creates a tension between the billionaire, Blake, and the spirited and confident business woman who is hired to oversee transitions after acquisitions. Their banter and inner dialogues make this book both delightful and engaging. A great quick read that leaves you with all the feels.
Nice clean read. Just wish the epilogue would of been better. Seems like it leaves you hanging for next book, however, the book description for third book is not about anyone mentioned in prior books. Hoping it’s a continuation of prior characters too. I’ve enjoyed first two books so definitively reading book 3.
