The Rancher is about an emotionally and physically scarred man returning to claim his inherited ranch from a father that loathed him. He loathed him to the point of driving him out of his ranch by the time he was sixteen.

But what he found when he returned was friends and family, even if they have to drag him kicking and screaming into the fold.

The Rancher was sweet and sexy. This is my first read into Morgan Ranch series and The Rancher holds it own but I now want to jump back and read the five previous books in this series. It was just what I needed, a fresh, fun and entertaining romance with a strong family core.

I received this ARC copy of The Rancher from Kensington Books - Zebra. This is my honest and voluntary review. The Rancher is set for publication November 27, 2018

This is the 4th book in this series that I've read and I'm glad I picked it up!

We finally get Rachel's story! I've been dying for her story since we found out that she existed in the last book. We not only get to see how she's adapting to her surprise family but we learn more about what her life was like with her mom.

I loved Cauy's backstory and his own struggle with the ranch and his past. It was very interesting to see how he reacted to the Morgan's family involvement in his life when he moved in.

My only complaint was that I found Rachel to be rather immature at times. She constantly wanted to run, which I get based on her past, but it got old pretty quick. This is one of those times that the age difference in the characters was rather obvious.

I enjoy this series and liked this book. Sometimes it was hard to follow Cauy Lymond's train of thought and trying to figure out Rachel Ford Morgan's character but overall, the two of them fit right into this crazy, mixed together family!

Love my visits to the Morgan Ranch and the family that lives there. From an exceptional meal by Ruth to Rachel a long lost sister coming home for the holidays. Snowy days, Puppies and secrets are on these pages along with the exploration of an abandoned mine. This is a stand alone read but warm your heart by starting from the beginning. We finally get to know more about the Morgan baby sister, Rachel. The things she went through, while too young to even know what she was going through, are just tragic. It’s no wonder she is full of insecurities. Not just about her place in the Morgan family, but her place with her step-dad and his new life.

Cauy is a prickly guy, but it’s very evident right from the start that he’s actually a very nice man. He just has a hard time interacting with others. Not only are his social skills lacking, but he also has leftover prejudices from his deceased father when it comes to the Morgan family and their ranch. Of course, Ruth Morgan ignores all of that and, before Cauy even knows what’s happening, he’s taken into the fold by all of the Morgan clan.

There is instant chemistry with Cauy and Rachel, even if he is quite a jerk when they first meet. Just because you think someone is a jerk doesn’t mean you can’t be attracted to them. As much as Cauy is a loner and isn’t interested in getting involved with his neighbors, let alone have a relationship with one of them, he can’t deny the attraction.

Rachel really understands Cauy in a way not many people do. She sees that he’s just not comfortable in crowds and gives him quite a bit of leeway when his prickly attitude comes out in uncomfortable situations. She also calls him on his attitude and doesn’t usually take too much of it herself.

As much as I love the relationship that develops with Cauy and Rachel, and meeting more people in the community that can help expand this series for longer, I feel some things could have been explored a bit more. All of Rachel’s brothers somehow feel she had it easy since she was too young to remember her mother’s manic episodes and she lived out a relatively “normal” life once their mom got remarried. Nobody really asks Rachel what it was really like growing up with their mom. There is a heartbreaking scene with HW and Rachel that a lot of that laundry is finally aired. I would have loved to see more of that type of connection and revelation with the rest of the family though. The same goes for Cauy. There is a lot that man has been through. It seems there could have been a bit of a deeper dive into his past.

This story is still amazing and really gave me all the feels. I laughed, cried, and rejoiced. What more can I ask for in a book?

Rachel is the final Morgan sibling to have their story. The book could be read on its own but if you love series then I'd start at the beginning. The characters have plenty of depth. Cauy & Rachel are both trying to come to terms with their past he was injured whilst working on an oil rig, she’s only just discovered her family. Sparks fly when they first meet & continue to fly throughout the book. The pace is good & flows effortlessly, yet another book that I read into the night as I just needed to finish it. A lovely story with an enthralling story containing humour, passion ideal for the holiday season or any season. I hope their are more stories to follow about the Lymond siblings

Cauy Lymond has returned to the ranch that was owned by his father and that his father left him after his death. His first day back he just happens to run into Rachel Ford Morgan who he does not remember when he was teenager before he left. Now getting all caught up and embarrassing himself and upsetting Rachel he goes back to the darken ranch house and that just suits him for that is how he feels in general. Rachel having earned her engineering degree still does not feel like she is part of the Morgan’s. She wants to contribute something. She also cannot understand her attraction to the surly rancher that moved next door to them. the more they spend together she likes him, but he also has a knack of saying the right word at the right time to just piss her off and the last time might have done the job permanently. Now Cauy must figure out a way to fix all of the wrongs he has done and said and pray that she will still be open to still want to talk to him. This is an excellent book that goes along great with the other books in the series. I liked all of the characters and I really liked Cauy and Rachel. Rachel is the girl everyone thought disappeared with her mother as a baby. Some suspected her dad murdered them both. That mystery was solved in previous books and Rachel's home with her family on break for the holidays then she's off to find a job. She's still trying to reconcile her family she didn't know she had for years and finding her place in it. Cauy Lymond is the guy who left home at 16 because of his dad. Now that dad has left the old rub down ranch to him and the hate his dad harbored for the Morgans. Things aren't always what they seem though. Both Rachel and Cauy have things to fix in their lives but they just seem to click. I really loved this one for some reason. I've read a few of the others in this series but this one stands out. Rachel and Cauy both had parental problems and secrets from their pasts. Cauy is a tough nut to crack to get into his heart but Rachel is just the girl to do it. Hated to see it end.

The Rancher by Kate Pearce
Morgan Ranch #6

With a meet-cute that was one leaving Cauy and Rachel angry rather than friendly there didn’t seem much hope for the two to find a HEA but they eventually do. Cauy Lymond has had it ingrained into his skull that the Morgan’s are out to get them and to be despised but Cauy soon realizes that perhaps his father was wrong.

With a rescue dog, ranch in dire need of repairs, two siblings that may get stories of their own in the future, a couple of dude ranch doofuses, a paternal mystery to solve, family angst and drama to wade through and holidays to enjoy this story packs a punch that kept me reading from beginning to end. The reason for the breakup toward the end was not one of my favorites but all came right in the end. I am eager to read Jackson’s story and hope it will come next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Cauy Lymond is returning to Morgan Valley and the ranch his father left to him after his death. It has been fourteen years and even though he knew it would look different from when he last lived there, he certainly didn't expect it to be in the dilapidated state he found it in.

After an accident at the oil rig where he worked, all Cauy wanted was some peace and quiet and to live his life without disturbance especially from those Morgans at the next ranch.

Of course this isn't to be and when he runs Rachel Morgan off his ranch, it sets off ramifications that he could never have imagined and has him questioning everything he was led to believe about not only the Morgans but his own family as well.

An excellent book with great characters that leave you wanting more when you arrive at the last page. Definitely looking forward to reading more by Kate Pearce.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is Rachel and Cauy's story. They both have issues from their past that have helped to shape who they are now. I really liked Cauy. He was dealing with alot yet trying to overcome his issues and be a better person. I did not care for Rachel. Although she had her own issues to deal with, I couldn't get past her immature attitude. She ran away every time Cauy said or did something that she didn't like, instead of trying to figure out where he was coming from and when he tried to explain she still stormed off. Don't get me wrong. This book was well written. I really liked Cauy and the secondary characters. I liked everything about this book except for Rachel.

At long last we have Rachel Morgan's story! This book is part of the Morgan Ranch series and really is better read as part of the series so you can have a full understanding of the Morgan family dynamics. Rachel Morgan has always wanted to make people happy even at the expense of her own feelings. She simply has a need to fix people, so when she meets her new neighbor, Cauy, she sets out to do just that. Cauy may have some issues from both his upbringing and more recently an oil rig accident, but he is certainly not interested in being told what to do by Rachel. He simply wants to be left alone, or does he? This was a very good wrap up for the Morgan series, Rachel not only gets her cowboy but also readers get a chance to revisit with the characters from the earlier books.

The Rancher by Kate Pearce
Book #6: Morgan Ranch Series
Source: NetGalley
My Rating: 4½/5 stars

Rachel Morgan is a Morgan and with that comes a hefty family with a huge history and a bright future. Trouble is, Rachel didn’t grow up with the hefty family and the huge history. Rachel spent her first two decades with a cold and rather distant mother who made it perfectly clear she wasn’t much interested in being a mother. Coming home to the Morgan Ranch is a bit like being a duck out of water, but with her stepdad remarrying and selling the home she grew up in, Rachel doesn’t have a lot of choices remaining.

Though Rachel enjoys life at Morgan Ranch, she doesn’t always feel like she quite belongs. With an extended break and time to really get to know her family, Rachel is hoping she’ll finally feel like a real Morgan. If her brothers, father, and grandmother have any say in the matter, Rachel is going so much a Morgan she’ll never want to leave. Nothing makes a Morgan feel more at home than having chores to do around the ranch so Rachel dives right in with an examination of the old mine. Just as she’s beginning her examination, Rachel has a run in with the most disagreeable Cauy Lymond.

Cauy Lymond grew up with two certainties, his father didn’t like him, and the Morgan’s were not to be trusted or tolerated. Upon his father’s death, Cauy was shocked to learn his father left him the family ranch. After 15+ years away, Cauy returns to the ranch to find two certainties, the ranch is a mess and his father may have been wrong about the Morgans. Within a day of his arrival, Cauy meets damn-near the entire Morgan clan and all come bearing gifts and/or proposals. The proposals are going to need some consideration, being pleasant to the Morgans is going to take some thinking on, and lusting after Rachel is going to have to come to a quick halt.

As it happens, Rachel and Cauy have more in common than either realize, but that makes for some uncomfortable situations, some incredible miscommunications, and some steamy hot moments. Both are trying to find their place in the world, within their own heads, and with one another. The feeling out process isn’t easy, and the prospect of the future is a terrifying proposition for both. Each has so much baggage and so many issues to work through and they can’t seem to get past all the noise until fate intervenes and puts them into a position that brings everything into sharp, clear focus. Some HEAs are harder to get to than others and when there’s a Morgan involved, there’s also going to be a high level of stubbornness.

The Bottom Line: It’s finally happened, the last of the Morgan siblings has a mate and what a ride is this story! Rachel may be young, but she has a ton of emotional baggage. Cauy is a bit older with more life experience, but some of that experience has physically and emotionally scarred him. What I loved most about this book is Cauy and his bumbles and stumbles. He may be older and have more experience, but his personal demons are big and bad and that made his story so much more interesting and satisfying for me. Finally, there is a great deal of history and backstory dealt with in this book and loads of appearances by all the Morgan family and their significant others. I always worry about the freshness of a series when it continues on, but Pearce has done a wonderful job of blending the old with the new and keeping the Morgan Ranch series fresh and exciting.

The back story of this series just makes me so mad. I continue to have issues with the idea that the Morgan mother, while suffering from postpartum psychosis, , fled with her baby and then just... moved on with life without, apparently, any counseling or treatment. (She's conveniently dead when we discover this so the series never addresses it.) We also meet Rachel, who's now referring to her adoptive father by his first name and seems to have a remote, strained relationship with him - despite the fact that when we first met him he seemed desperate to maintain his role as Rachel's father and reluctant to trust the Morgans. The Amazing Awesomeness of the Morgan family in this series is just oppressive. (Can I also mention that Pearce refers to not one but two adoptive fathers in this book as "stepfathers"? While in one case it's technically correct, in the other it's not so the use just feels like emphasis on the fact that adoptive/non-biological parenting is presented in this series as not good or adequate; adoptive parents don't love or understand their children the way biological parents do, or sometimes at all, and if provided with the opportunity the child will seek out her biological parents and be traumatized for life if they reject her. This shows up over and over again: )

I'm also just going to put this out there - we learn late in the book that the hero tried to strangle his then-wife while suffering from a PTSD blackout, and that's part of why she left him. The heroine assures him that his wife should have understood that this was an "aberration" and stuck by him. I'm not comfortable with that. Like, at all. Later in the same conversation the heroine "explains" that if his wife had REALLY been frightened by his attempt to murder her, she would have gone to the police, and since she didn't she clearly wasn't actually scared and just used the hero's guilt about it to push through the divorce she wanted. Are you kidding me?

The family drama at the Morgan Ranch has intrigued me over this series. The characters are interesting with their strengths and weaknesses, their appealing and irritating habits of nature make them like most of us, thus easy to relate to.
The family has faced so many problems over the years, or should I say decades, yet one of the happier events was when they found their little sister, Rachel, again. No, it hasn't been all dancing on the roses to adjust being part of a family Rachel Ford Morgan had no idea existed, but with time and lots of TLC, she is slowly but surely finding her place with the rambunctious crowd that is her biological family. Some of the struggles of that adjustment are shown in this story, and the mix of pain and jubilee Rachel experience aided her way to my heart.
Cauy Lymond has faced troubles and heartache in his life from the young age. The difficult relationship with his father drove him from home at the early age of sixteen. He has made a good life for himself, but paid the price dearly, with an accident that scarred him for life, and a divorce that left him skeptical towards love and romance, happiness in general. He is on the quiet side, an introvert, who avoids big crowds and rather lets other people take care of the conversation surrounding him.
The connection between Cauy and Rachel is immediate, the attraction somewhat sweet in nature, and their physical chemistry sizzles. They seem so perfect together, like two opposite making one harmonious whole, if they could just communicate better with each other, and trust the raging emotions in their hearts and minds.
I enjoyed the story. It is entertaining as it pulled me into the country life; to the troubles and concerns of the rancher's life, to the drama of the families, the neighbors, and unruly guests of the dude ranch. As much as the book is a love story between Rachel and Cauy, it is also a part of the Morgan family saga, that has continued over the series. The whole family is gathered together for the holiday season, and the readers get to witness the progress of their lives and loves.
An enjoyable, inspiring, and touching story of families that sticks together and has each other's backs in all the hurdles of life, and in the midst of it all, two broken souls, people who deserve to be loved and cared for maybe more than most, find the home of their hearts within the safe harbor of each other's souls.

Their first meeting didn't go well.

Cuay Lymond has just returned to Lymond Ranch after almost fourteen years having left it at the age of sixteen. Now his father has died and left the ranch to him. The house, the barn and the other structures are in terrible condition; the livestock all gone. The following day Cuay decides to check the perimeter fence hoping it is in better condition than the rest of the ranch. Rachel Morgan, recent graduate from engineering school is visiting her family on the Morgan Ranch and wants to pitch in and help out while she is there. She decides to saddle up and check the perimeter fence around the closed up silver mine on Morgan Ranch property. It also happens to sit right next to the Lymond Ranch. The Morgan Ranch manager thought someone had been tampering with the fence around the mine. Rachel was anxious to get a close look at the old mine. She found the door to the mine still securely padlocked but as she checked around the side of the building she noticed a crack in the ground, two feet across at its widest which stayed that way as far as she could see. She started to follow the crack through some downed fence and that's when it happened - the first meeting between Rachel and Cuay. Cuay accuses Rachel of trespassing on his land. Unfriendly words follow. Rachel is very annoyed at the grumpy neighbor. Later Cuay realized that he hadn't been very nice but the appearance of Rachel had surprised him. This relationship has nowhere to go but up. But will it?

The Rancher by Kate Pearce is the sixth book in her Morgan Ranch series. She has written a poignant story of two people who have had unhappy childhoods and some less than happy past life experiences as adults too and how their pasts affect them and their relationship to each other. Both Rachel and Cuay need to learn to trust in love and each other. Theirs is not an easy coming together but it is a very interesting story to read. I really enjoyed it. This book has convinced me that I missed some good stories in the previous books in the series so I need to go back and start from the beginning.

Well, this book was at least better than the last, but it still wasn't my favorite in the series. I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of Rachel. She came off pretty immature many times with the constant running away and not sticking around to communicate with Cauy.

Speaking of Cauy, that was an odd name. By the end of the book I just finally had to break down and look the name up and watch some videos to see how they pronounced the name (apparently it's a cowboy name). They were pronouncing it 'Coy' - I'm not sure why it wasn't just written that way because I said it wrong in my head for most of the book.

I did like Cauy. Sure, he was a bit gruff and brooding - that was pretty much his personality for most of the book, but the guy had been through a lot in his 30 years. He had a dad who hated him and treated him differently and he also suffered a traumatic work accident that left him scarred, taking a lot of medication, in pain, experiencing some memory issues and a wife who divorced him when he was no longer the man she married after the accident. But he reluctantly welcomed the Morgan clan into his home and heart and did so despite the fact that his late dad hated the Morgan's. So he had a good heart and was willing to accept help. He didn't have too big of an ego to admit he needed the help, so I respected him a lot.

I did like that Rachel liked Cauy despite his scars (physical & mental). She was a really nice person who was a people pleaser. I just wish she acted a little more mature and didn't always run away when the going got tough. The only time she showed some maturity was when they were in the mine and then she stepped up and was a leader.

The surprise Blue pulls off was super sweet and charming in this one and I loved it! I enjoyed seeing the rest of the Morgan clan back in the spotlight in this book. The ending of this book was just blah and not at all what I expected. Will there be another book after this one or did it just end like that? Rachel & Cauy barely said I love you and then the book just ends. It wasn't very impressive, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised since that's how this series has gone.

A great addition to the series.

I’ve really been enjoying this series and The Rancher is one of my stories in it. The other books have been about the Morgan sons and I’m glad that we finally get to read Rachel’s story. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the other books, I think this one stands alone fairly well. Each of the books has an HEA for the featured couple but there are overlapping arcs in a few of the books.

Cauy Lymond returns to the family ranch he inherited from his father only to find it falling apart. He left home at 16 because he could no longer handle the way his father treated him. A horrible accident has left him scarred and withdrawn.

Rachel Morgan is still getting to know the family she only recently discovered she has. Her mother kept a lot of things hidden from her and died without revealing the secrets she kept. After a lengthy search, one of her previously unknown brothers found her and invited her into the family.

The Rancher was such an intriguing book. We get hints about what happened to Cauy but it takes a while for the story to reveal what happened to him. When he and Rachel meet they are attracted to each other but many things keep them apart until they finally give into the lust they both feel.

There is more mystery in this story, with new developments we didn’t know about in the previous ones. What happened to Cauy really made me sad but it was also uplifting to know what he’d overcome. Both he and Rachel share similar emotional scars of not being good enough or wanted by one of their parents.

I laughed and cried while reading this book, a sure sign that it’s a winner for me. I don’t know if there will be more books in the series or not but there are a few more characters that I think deserve to be written about. At the very least I'd love to read a big Christmas family story this time next year.

A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

While the title of the book is THE RANCHER (The Morgan Brothers), it is really about the Morgan sister, Rachel. The previous books have slowly revealed all that went down to shatter their family, each from the point of view of the H of that book. This one is from Rachel's perspective. For those readers who have not read the previous books (a grave mistake, because they are all wonderful), the author includes in the narrative a short but precise synopsis, of what happened previously.

The rancher of the title is Cauy Lymond, the oldest son of Mark Lymond, the angry old alcoholic, who owned the property next to the Morgans. When he died, he surprisingly left the ranch to Cauy, despite Cauy having cut out at the age of 16, to get away from his father. He moved to Texas and worked in the oil industry. After Mark's wife and other two children had left him, he stopped taking care of the ranch. But after seriously being injured in an accident, Cauy has come home. Cauy was never gregarious and his first run in with Rachel does not go well at all. But as the older Morgan's embrace their neighbor, he tries to forget all the animosity that his father had against them. Rachel and Cauy are attracted to each other, but will he use their age difference and his feelings that she deserved someone better, to keep them apart?

The Morgans are a very appealing family, each character cleverly developed, and expanded as the series continues, including several of the other townspeople. The plot thickens with what is going on in the mines and what Mark did with his investments. As always, the narrative is skillful and enticing. I received a free, advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Cauy and Rachel find love despite their family history.

Cauy doesn't want anything to do with his father's ranch, and even less to do with the neighboring Morgan family. But he inherits the property at a low point in his own life, and having no other options, he settles in and reconnects with the small town folks who know way too much about his father, his family, and their secrets.

Rachel has only recently been reunited with her father and his family, so she doesn't know much about Cauy beyond the fact that his father hated her entire family. Their initial meeting couldn't have gone worse, and they both are left wondering why they're so attracted to someone who seems all wrong for them. Rachel and Cauy are both traveling the road of self-discovery, and it's the stalwart friendship and love of the Morgans that helps each of them figure out just what they want in life.

I loved the way Rachel's grandmother just spread her quiet wisdom around like fertilizer, and how she just accepted everyone as they were, seeing their best selves despite their own opinions. I enjoyed watching Rachel stand up to her brothers, and to Cauy. It was heartwarming to watch Cauy come to terms with his family history as well as his own life choices. Their romance was a roller coaster of ups and downs as they each brought out the best and the worst in each other.

As a standalone romance it works even if you haven't read the previous Morgan Ranch books, but getting to know the characters here will make you want to read more about the characters in the earlier books. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Masterful story of healing, forgiveness and love. Kate has done the impossible and crafted a story of loving an unlovable man and his finding he can be loved for himself.

Rachel Ford has no roots and returns to her newly discovered family at the Morgan Ranch after graduating with a degree in Engineering to make connections and find a job, a purpose for life. Her mom has died, her stepdad remarried and sold the family home and the only place to land is with her Grandma Ruth, Dad Billy and 4 brothers at the Morgan Ranch. She's eagerly welcomed. They assure her she'll always have a home here. As she works through family relationships and finds her place she meets their crotichy neighbor Cauy Lymond. He did NOT make a good impression the first time they met.

Mark Lymond willed his run down ranch to his eldest son. Cauy has survived a horrendous oil well explosion, his wife divorcing him marrying his best friend as well as taking half of everything. He's a lost man and figures fixing up the old family ranch will give him purpose for a while. He grew up with his dad's bias of hating the Morgans next door, so he's skeptical of the overwhelming welcome and kindness shown him by them. He's a man of few words and scarred heart. Rachel finds herself drawn to him and he's drawn to her light. This was a difficult story to write, to make him loveable, but in Kate's expert hands she crafts a deep, heartwarming story. One of her best. Thank you Kate and Kensington for granting me a copy to review.

4.0. Story of Rachel and Cuay (aka Coy).
He’s a Miller. His father was a drunk and hated him and had feud against the Morgan’s ever since Cuay was born

Set in Northern CA ranch near Sierras. In Himboldt county
Rachel is a Morgan. Long lost sister presumed dead of the 4 Morgan brothers. She was kidnapped stolen by her mom during post part in depression. Turns out the HW (one of the twins) put her in the card with their mother thinking she wood turn around and take him. She got better married nice man Rachel’s step father. Now the Morgan ranch is running a tourist dude ranch operations. She’s an engineer and plotting ok’d silver mine on her And Cuays property. Doofus clients get stoned in mine. They get out but it collapses on cuay and Rachel. He confesses what happened to him in his accident at olio rig got crushed by steel beam but the oil burning around him is what left him scarred. Lots of creams now and doesn’t really drink.

Cuay comes back to the Miller ranch as it was left or him on his dads will. Even though all suspicions lead to the fact that he had a different birth father.

Finally meets his birth fathers father. As his birth father was killed in car accident when cuays mother was just 17 and newly pregnant So she she married cuays Stepfather who agreed to raise him even tho out of spite.

All good. Cuay and Rachel make good couple.

Need to read rest of series to understand full issues surrounding Morgans etc.

The Rancher by Kate Pearce is the sixth book in the Morgan Ranch Series. This book focuses on Rachel Morgan, the lost daughter of the Morgans. Rachel had just completed her engineering degree and had come to Morgan Ranch to spend time with her family - a family that is all new to her. She is especially interested in the old silver mine that straddles Morgan and Lymond land. That is how she meets Cauy Lymond.

Cauy Lymond has just returned to his family’s ranch. His “father” left him a dilapidated farmhouse with a farm that has been left abandoned. He has decided to start again and work on the ranch. His father hated the Morgans and often railed against them, but Cauy was not surprised since his father treated him the same way. Riding the fence line he ran across an intruder (Rachel), taking pictures of a fallen fence line.

Rachel is concerned with the mine and the sinkhole, crevice making hole. Cauy is concerned that she is a Morgan on his land. I have enjoyed everyone of Kate Pearce’s books in this series. I like the way she writes. I like the way her characters interact with each other. I like the way the family works together and helps everyone. It is clear to me that the area of the Sierras where the Morgan Ranch is a difficult place to live, but beautiful place. The Rancher by Kate Pearce is a great read.

This is another story in the Morgan Ranch series and it is about the little sister, Rachel. She had not been raised on the ranch and did not even know she had four brothers until after her Mom died and her Step-Father told her about the Morgans. When she first arrived she felt like an outsider but the family was very warm and accepting and she fell in love with the ranch and the countryside. With her degree in Engineering, Rachel was an asset to her family concerning the old silver mine on their property. One day she decided to check fences and found that some of the tunnels at the mine were caving in and the fencing was being destroyed. It was here that she ran into Cauy Lymond, whose father hated the Morgans but Cauy had only arrived at the neglected ranch after he was informed by his father's attorney, that he had inherited the ranch. The only thing he had been told growing up was that the Morgans were trying to steel his dad's ranch. He did not make a good first impression with Rachel but fortunately they seemed to run into each other all the time. He had been hurt very badly in an explosion and always kept to himself, at least before the Morgans took him under their wing. Great story but there are some questions that did not get answered and not sure if they will be answered in to the next book or not. Hope there is another story to complete everything.

I was between ratings on this one. The writing alone was 4 stars, but I didn't like Rachel 99% of the time, and the ending was a little too abrupt for me. Cauy was a good guy, and I felt like he was upfront about who he was right from the start. He knew he had problems with certain things, but he didn't try to hide that fact. Rachel acted like she was upfront too, but she wasn't. She had random bursts of anger, and then covered everything up with a smile. She was very immature and acted a lot younger than her 23 years. I understand she had a screwed up childhood, but she didn't try to change her behaviors at all. That didn't keep her from acting like Cauy was the one with problems. She ran away from him every time something didn't go her way, she even stomped her foot at him like a child. When she reads something that she shouldn't have (totally not her business), she automatically assumes the worst of Cauy. It's bad when your whole family is coming to his defense, but Rachel still believes the worst. It doesn't take much to change her mind when Cauy talks to her. The ending was very abrupt though. You know that the couple is together, but everything else is just left hanging. I would have really liked an epilogue to finish this one out.

WHILE I ENJOYED THE COUPLE DYNAMICS, I CANT SAY I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY THE ROMANCE.

CAUL has returned to his hometown to takeover the ranch that was left by his old man. Needless to say, his father wasn't bosom buddies with the Morgans to the extend of self destruction. Caul ain't no people person and he's not very good with words either, which is part of the reason his wife left him. Never anticipating it, Rachel storms into his life and wrecks havoc demanding actions he has insecurities with since he's such a clam. But that was one quality I found cute. Personally I think quiet men are the ones who are able to keep their promises in a sense, that's why I liked Caul even if there were moments he did chicken out.

RACHEL is a young woman who just graduated college at 23, she's home for a holiday and helps around her family's own ranch. There she meets the antisocial Caul, both rubbing each other the wrong way at first but there's no denying the attraction. Though both were not looking for romance, they eventually fall for each other but Rachel has her own hung ups about her birth parents and well family stuff.

OVERALL it was okay, but more like average contemporary romance without raw intensity.

I have loved this series and was looking forward to Rachel Morgan’s story. She was the daughter taken away when her mother left the Morgan Ranch , her husband and her four small children. Never to be heard from again.
Rachel has now been reunited with her family and is adjusting to her new place in it, when she meets Cauy Lymond. He is the son of the Morgan’s long time enemy. Much to his surprise, he has inherited the dilapidated ranch from a father that never showed him any love. After an accident that still causes him pain, he’s determined move to the ranch and restore it.
Though their first meeting was less than ideal, the Morgan family and Cauy started forging a friendship as does a relationship with Rachel.
Will Rachel allow herself to be loved and will Cauy feel worthy of love?
A story with an engaging plot that at times was heartbreaking but also heartwarming. Not only were the main characters complex individuals but it was also great to visit with the characters from the previous stories.
Another winner in this series.

This the sixth book in the Morgan Ranch series. What a great book!! Rachel was introduced into the series in an earlier book, so I highly recommend that you read the previous books in the series first! You can read the book as a standalone, but you will understand more if you have read the other books. Rachel has returned to the ranch and her family. Cauy had also returned to his family’s ranch, but he never looked back after he initially left. Rachel and Cauy meet, but it is not a good meeting. Sparks did fly between the two, but they do not like each other. Cauy runs Rachel off his ranch, but because of that, the Morgan’s return with help. Cauy does not know what to make of the Morgan’s, because they do not seem anything like the stories he had heard. This book will keep you on your toes, and you will not want to put it down until the end! The characters are fantastic, and I love the twists and turns o the plot. I highly recommend this book! You will not be disappointed!
