I started out in banking in the mid 80s in Oklahoma City. I had saved up $6500 from college and had a stock broker call me up. He had a stock that was "poised to move." Silly me, I thought he meant up. I told him to send me the financials to analyze, which he did. It looked pretty good. I invested half my life savings ($3000) in a stock called Kelly-Johnsons. In 6 months, I lost it all. He called and apologized and said he "wanted to make it up to me." What a guy. He said he had an oil stock, they just hit a well, and we got to move fast. I invested the other half of my life savings in Plano petroleum. In 2 weeks it went from 40 to 6.

It was then, I became obsessed with financial planning and investing. Reading everything I could, taking classes, etc. I acquired a passion for financial planning and became and advisor, in 1987.

I have 4 degrees, two from Oklahoma State. A BS in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA. I have two associates degrees from Oklahoma City Community College, in Accounting and Real Estate Investing. Since the start of my sophomore year I paid my way through college.

I'm a CPA and CFP and run a fee-only investment advisory firm for conservative investors.

Pati, Levi and I live in South Oklahoma City and have a place in Stillwater. We enjoy Oklahoma State University sports and spending time in Stillwater.

A well written book about changing your mindset about money and how to gain more money. This well written book goes about dealing with the negative mindset of what more money means and how to gain more money. This was a clear and easy to read book that made it easy to set your goals and work towards them. The author, Randy Thurman, does a wonderful job of providing details and information and really getting his message across to the reader. I found that this book was very informative and that I really helped me look at the mental reason why I haven’t achieved my close of financial freedom. Some of this information I will be teaching to our children so they can start their young lives free of unnecessary debt. This is the book that will be taken from our book shelf many times to be reread and take more information from.

Something deep inside every one of us want to find an easy way to make tons of money, this is almost a fact, but you can’t really blame anyone who have this thought at least once, it’s just a little wish inside us who want to make it real, but life doesn’t work that way.
Let’s get this straight to the point, this is not a revelation to the secret formula for making people rich in a day, none of that. This book will aid you to find long-terms goals, for you, your loved ones and more. The tools and insightful information provided here is pure brilliant, how practical can you be when we are referring to money, and how easy it is to understand everything, take notes and move on, seriously this book captivates me and it makes me realize a lot of the problems I’m dealing with, hard work really pays off, but you also have to work in a smart way, read this book and reach your dreams.

Great tool for learning the methods to money.

There are many "self help" type books out there that promise all kinds of things to the consumer. A small percentage of those are actually useful and help the buyer. This book is focuses on how to gain wealth or make money. This is not a get rich quick scam or ponzi scheme. This book is well written and contains a great amount of information and strategy that when followed can help you to achieve the financial freedom we all want to have. The author writes is an easy to understand method and does a good job of sharing this knowledge with the readers. I recommend checking this out if you are looking to increase your wealth and investment strategy.

More than a Millionaire - Your Path to Wealth, Happiness and a Purposeful Life by Randy L. Thurman is a practical book full of helpful advice not only to safeguard your future financially, but to enjoy your life in the present. With a common sense approach and a wealth of experience behind him, Thurman presents his simple steps to take for a secure retirement. Along with setting goals, and explaining other useful tools, Thurman delves into the mindset of the wealthy by exploring the eighteen traits of people who are not only wealthy but happy too. That seems to go hand in hand. While the book may be more applicable to those under 40 years of age, there is guidance here that can help just about anyone become more stable and successful financially. Highly recommend for a useful and informative money guide.

More than a Millionaire: Your Path to Wealth, Happiness, and a Purposeful Life--Starting Now! by Randy L. Thurman is a self-help financial planning and wealth building guide written by an author who once lost every penny he had in two swift trades. Having learned a tough lesson in the hardest possible way, Thurman has made it his mission to assist others on a path he initially had to forge himself. Broken down into four separate parts and sixteen chapters, Thurman's book fleshes out a strategy and provides solid advice on more than just making money...but also how to live richly with a happy outlook, regarding quality of life that surpasses the dollar figure determining your net worth.

Well written and easy to follow, More than a Millionaire by Randy L. Thurman is an excellent choice for readers who are either just starting out or are looking for something a bit different. As a novice, I found the debt to income ratio scale to be an excellent gauge, and the application of S.M.A.R.T. principles (Specific targets, Measurable action, Ardent desire, Realistic objectives, Time frame) to be a sensible, memorable goal-setting technique. My husband dog-eared the section on power habits. The best part in Thurman's book is that everything in it feels attainable. The advice is practical and his methods can actually be applied, which is important (although, sadly it's quite rare) in the genre of self-help finance. I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in becoming more than just a millionaire.

More than a Millionaire: Your Path to Wealth, Happiness & a purposeful Life by Randy L Thurman is a self help book on money management and personal finance.
The book speaks about how the author has 30 years of experience as a financial advisor, Randy writes about a tried and tested direction to happiness and better finances. He explains that the reader needs to start from this day forward with the right information given to them.

I have to admit, I have been a little sceptical but who wouldn't want to have financial stability whatever you have presently in your bank account. Randy includes in this book 5 simple steps you can take, starting today, protecting your money and secure your financial future. He explains how the reader can create a spending plan that allows you to enjoy the money you currently have but also helping you build a future nest egg. There is much more covered as well.

I shall certainly try to follow through on the advice given, would recommend to anyone. Particularly those that want to save for their futures and have a little fun money too.

There are a dime a dozen books on how to handle your finances but any that title themselves n how to become a millionaire will of course be attention grabbing. One thing with this book is that it has good, common sense advice. Things that, if you’re like me, 35 years old and been around the block a few times, know because you’ve done those things the hard way and learned the lessons. As such, the easy style of writing, the good pacing and the good advice seems to be lost on us older folks. A college or even high school student will most likely be able to get the most out of this book. Some of the things will of course carry over, but others such as how to set goals and actually achieve them or the pitfalls of get rich quick scams are no-brainers for me. The author did a great job of adding links that will further explain and elaborate upon the topic.
So overall, this is a good book to get a good foundation of money sense in you. If you already have this sense, then this might not be for you.

More than a Millionaire is a very good book if you have never learned anything about investing, betterment, or Finance. It pretty much regurgitates with most people talk about as far as investing in mutual funds, index funds and ETFs. It talks about a life bigger than just money and finding purpose. It talks about reading and becoming stronger and not being like the crowd which like I said is pretty much what you come across when you read books about betterment, investing or Finance. If it's your first book you'll love it and get you a nice overview and even talks about mindset. I usually advise people to read Rich Dad Poor Dad for mindset and a general overview of money and investing and then move into it I will teach you to be rich by Ramit Sethi and A Random Walk Down Wall Street by Burton Malkiel. Like I said I don't think it's a bad book I just think it's unoriginal and you would be better served to reap those three books then to get a very surface-level overview of much bigger topics.

Inspiring! The best self development book I’ve ever read.

More than a Millionaire: Your Path to Wealth, Happiness and a Purposeful Life by Randy L. Thurman may very well be my new favorite self development book! I love that this book doesn’t focus on the financial part. Instead, it lays out the steps one needs to take to achieve their goals both personal and financial. Thurman has a quick wit that keeps the book entertaining while he helps his readers find their path. He asks the hard questions in such a way that they don’t seem like they are that hard to answer.
He outlines what those who are wealthy AND happy have done to get where they are, and how literally anyone can reach their own financial and personal goals by following those steps. I recommend this book for anyone who is seeking financial and emotional stability, or even to teens starting out on their life so they can start right from the start. This book will definitely be kept and referenced often!

Randy L. Thurman is one of those authors you wish you could keep in your pocket and pull out every time you needed financial advice. More than a Millionaire: Your Path to Wealth, Happiness, and a Purposeful Life has sound wisdom about the things Thurman learned as he made mistakes with his own money. Each time someone knocked him down he got back up and studied how to not make that mistake again.

I love how Randy L. Thurman realizes there is more to life than money, as he teaches how money can enrich your dreams and be used to give you a purpose. More than a Millionaire: Your Path to Wealth, Happiness, and a Purposeful Life is written with Thurman’s own personal experiences woven within his lessons. This is a book for the long haul, not get rich quick. I love how the author pushes the importance of a life of quality and principle, instead of empty promises. This is a book I will keep in my library and refer to again and again.

This is a book I wish I had read in my twenties. As a now thirty-something-year-old, it still had some positive aspects that I enjoyed, but I definitely recommend this for anyone who is looking for something career-wise, wants to make a career change, etc. This is not a book on how to become a millionaire or raise money in an unrealistic fashion. Few of us will ever become millionaires and those that do obtain their wealth through hard work and being smart about their money. This book offers a healthier mindset on your finances and career choices. I really liked the spending plan that was offered, AND I liked that the book was written by someone who was a CPA and CFP with over 30 years of experience. The guidance the author offers is impressive and useful. I learned some valuable teachings from this book and I recommend it for anyone looking for a healthy financial life.

This book by Randy Thurman is designed to help guide you on how you can become not only wealthy, but happy as well. Thurman explains that while wealth can buy you many great things, it also gives you the responsibility to take care of people around you and your community.

In this book, Thurman identifies a few important aspects that everyone needs to keep in mind to be “more than a millionaire”. This includes how you can better save your money, how to create and meet goals, different traits of wealthy and happy people, and ways you can bring in more income.

At 290 pages, it might be a little long for some. However, this book is filled with plenty of helpful information making it a worthwhile read. In addition to this, Thurman writes with an informative yet understandable style which makes taking in all the information he provides easy to do.

I think “More Than A Millionaire…” is a thoughtful and deliberate recipe that was crafted with the regular Joe in mind. The tone is down-to-earth and seems sincere in wanting you to understand how to better manage your income. Randy Thurman tells you about the good and the bad, the short-cuts and the proper routes to get you to your goal while giving you adequate caution and sound advice.
He helps you to prepare a personal budget and how to stick to it. His personal experiences are shared which make you realise that everyone will have financial bumps but you can recover if you make a plan and stick to the plan. The way he presented the information made it easy to understand and removed your anxiety about managing your finances.

I think the author's advice is spot on. However, there is not much original in this book. I found it redundant after reading other finance guru books.
