This is a good book of player options for any player looking to move beyond what is in the Player's Handbook. It is integrated with the Midgard Worldbook, but even if you are not playing in that setting, the vast majority of it can easily be integrated into any campaign. The major thing that would take some integration are the backgrounds, many of which are very specific to the setting. It is better than the books with additional player options for 5e by WotC. The options are both well balanced and avoid power creep and highly thematic. The new Domains for Clerics are a highlight, but all of it is very good. If you have a cooperative DM, I would purchase this before either Xanathar's or the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide. It is wall to wall options with very high value for money. Kobold Press just does excellent 5e material on a regular basis and are very reliable.
Great fantasy world that gets deeper the more you explore it. Loved it so much I started a D&D character backstory that turned into a short story that turned into a 20k word start on a novel. Kobold is a very cool publisher and I'll be keeping my eye on everything they publish.
