The book gave a great history lesson about the founding of the city and how it got into the modern era. It had a very optimistic tone about the direction of the city, as it was published in the early 1970s before the complete downfall of industry in the Midwest. Focused a lot on the men and communities that shaped Detroit in the mid 20th Century.
