ARC received for review

Didn't realized this was the second book in a series. I had to go look and yes I've read the first one (shocker), but didn't remember any of it.

This one was just okay. Vik and Harper were a sexy couple, but they both left a lot to be desired in the brains department. Loved Vik's plan to win Harper back, but the author didn't finish the song. They got a HEA, but then it just kinda stalled out at the ending.

Anyone who knows me knows that Tattooed bad boys are my kryptonite. Add in a buttoned up/good girl heroine and it is on!! I loveeed this book. I thought Harper and Vik were so sexy and fun and their banter was so hot. I could not get enough!

When good girl Harper and Bad boy biker/tattoo shop owner Vik realize they both want each other, they decide to compromise - He is Mr. No committment and she is looking for her forever man. So in the meantime they try out the friends with benefits perks and take it from there.what could go wrong? But when Harper wants more will Vik realize the prize in his arms or let her go forever?

Gahh!! I loved this story. I loved that they both weren't expecting one another but the minute they met, their chemistry exploded and their connection ran deep. It was amazing to see as they spent more time together as "friends" they realized how much they both meant to one another. This was an outstanding addition to Harlequin's Dare series as it had heat, humor and an amazing romantic story. I would like to thank Netgalley and Harlequin for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Inked by Anne Marsh is the second story in her steamy motorcycle club romance series Hard Riders MC. I enjoyed the first in the series, Ruled, which introduced the club and some of the secondary characters, including the hero of this one, Vik. Here he gets a chance to show banker Harper a walk on the wild side.

Harper’s ready to move on with her life after discovering her partner cheating on her. When her friend takes her out for a night on the town, a few drinks leads her into the tattoo chair of Vik, tattoo artist extraordinaire and full fledged member of the Hard Riders MC. Vik makes Harper an offer she finds hard to refuse – if she ever wants a booty call, he’ll be happy to show up at her door. Harper has never done anything like that before, but the idea of someone putting her needs first is hard to resist. Vik makes it clear it’s sex only with a side of friendship. He doesn’t believe in commitment, or love. But when Harper is brave enough to tell Vik how she really feels, will Vik shut her down or realize he’s starting to feel the same way?

I read this on a whim and didn’t realise it was the second in a series until after I finished it but it didn’t matter. The books will all centre around different characters in the same motorcycle club and although the hero from the first book does appear a couple times in this one, it doesn’t talk much around his story and you can easily read this first without spoiling anything.

Harper is a banker who caught her boyfriend cheating and has now decided on a whim to get a tattoo and so she strolls into the shop where Vik works. They’ve actually met before…..but Vik doesn’t remember her however he’s pretty interested in her now. Harper doesn’t know what she wants to get tattooed on her so she lets Vik choose and so he designs something that he thinks fits her and where she’s at in her life.

From there they segue into a sort of friends with benefits arrangement (read: booty calls) where they talk about a lot how neither of them want commitment. Harper just wants to live a little after the souring of her previous relationship and although Vik’s father wants him to find a good woman and settle down, Vik’s motto seems to be ‘here for a good time, not a long time’ and he’ll just take as many women as he can find, thanks. Although once he meets Harper, that kind of dries up.

This was….okay I guess? Nothing ground breaking. Vik is annoyingly smirky and cocky and he’s more playboy than aloof biker. It annoys me when people go and get tattoos without even knowing what they want though. You’re inking something permanently onto your skin and you can’t even be bothered to choose what it is? Also this tattoo seems elaborate but is completed in one session and there’s no aftercare and the next time Harper even looks at it , it’s perfectly healed. Magic.

I wanted to explore the fact that they’d already ‘known’ each other (and I do meant that in every sense) but it’s kind of glossed over? Harper remembers it quite well but Vik has zero memory of it whatsoever and she makes no real attempt to enlighten him as to when/where it was and it’s basically never mentioned again. She doesn’t seem particularly insulted that he doesn’t even remember her and Vik is keen to make amends by making it up to her. It’s fine, pretty standard, I never really felt like they had much chemistry though. Vik doesn’t really come across as very deep – I think the relationship with his father and the way his father was urging him to settle down was an attempt to show the man behind the MC but it didn’t really do much. I did like that he took care of his father but I was a little confused about whether their lifestyle was 100% legit these days.

Harper was fine, a bit bland. She’s some sort of investment banker or something who manages other people’s money (and does it very well, which was good to see). Her break up happens before the book starts and there’s no real interaction with her ex – I thought there might be something for closure but it doesn’t happen. Just a scene where she tries to steal her cat back which goes a bit awry.

Harper and Vik spend most of the book assuring themselves that they’re not in a relationship and it’s just this or that with no strings attached but it’s pretty obvious that it’s not just this or that and that there are some strings attached. It takes Vik a ridiculously long amount of time to figure out what’s going on and he was just so annoyingly stubborn about it for no good reason that it got a bit tedious towards the end. Perhaps because this is really short and although they do spend time together out of bed, it’s not much so it did feel a bit of a stretch that there were these powerful feelings already. Especially for two people who hadn’t wanted anything more and in Vik’s case, didn’t really seem to have had many, if any, proper relationships. Could’ve probably done with a bit more fleshing out.

The character from the story before this piqued my interest and I thought about going to check that book out and I might do that but it’s only a novella like this one and from the same category. I’ve read two DARE novels now and I don’t think they’re for me. Whilst it’s a very quick and easy read, it’s a bit bland and for me there was nothing that stood out about it character or story wise unfortunately.

Inked is a sexy little romp filled with laughter and some heartache.

Vik is a tattoo artist and a member of the Hard Riders MC, is a dark dream in leather and jeans. Vik has many sides to his personality. Vic is dangerous sexy and down right funny. I adore his Witt most of all. Vic has a problem and her name is Harper.

Harper is a CPA a numbers wiz, she makes people money so imagine her surprise when she finds herself wrapped around a sexy bad boy that has ability to turn her inside out. Harper is about to find out not everything or everyone fits into her neat little slots, especially the ultra sexy Tattoo artist Vik.

Vik and Harper are polar opposites. To my surprise it is what made Inked so entertaining. Both Hot and sweet sure, but gosh I enjoyed the wit as they bantered back and forth.

The supporting characters gave Inked a nice boost. Brooklyn ( BFF to Harper) and partner in crime, Rev & Romeo (Hard Rider Brothers to Vik) kept things interesting . When a brother messes up bad and falling hard it’s the duty of the family to show Vik of his mistakes.

As plots go Inked was is a well written MC romance with interesting moments along the way as well as some tender heart breaking moments.

I think I would have enjoyed this book a whole lot more if we’d have gotten more of the MC life – there just isn’t a lot of interaction with the club and I found that very disappointing. Though this book is definitely hot, it was a lot more sex than romance/story and it didn’t keep my attention. I didn’t dislike this story, I just didn’t love it so I’m giving 3 stars.

Harper was recently dumped by her longtime boyfriend and on a night out with her girls she winds up at Vik’s tattoo shop to get a tattoo. Vik is all about getting with Harper for a week or so – it takes some convincing but Harper and Vik wind up in a “friends-with-beneifts” type situation. Vik knows he’s not long-term material and sets out to find Harper the perfect forever man, which of course, turns into a crazy time for them both.

On the one hand I found it a refreshingly new plotline for Vik to be game to help Harper find another man. At the same time, that is so unlike the usual MC/alpha male that it made things weird. I’m just up in the air on the this story and probably won’t be reading further into the series.

Vik is a man who loves to be in control, "still, she needs to understand that she doesn’t get to be the one in charge here. “Do that again and I’ll spank your ***.” He's always willing to help his lady out of distress, “if you need a pretty face for ***, you can call me.” I loved Vik's dad the man had so much charm, "the old guy pats his crotch. “Keep my assets right here.” Ooo-kay. Vik clearly inherited his sense of humor from his dad." I loved this book, Vik was just one persistent man.

Received from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review....

Okay...I wasn't the biggest fan of the first book in this series, but I gave this one a chance.
What I loved: I loved that I liked this one better than the first one. :-) I really loved Vik's character. I loved the humor between these two.
What I liked: I liked the characters in this one. I felt more of a connections with them/to them.
What I hated: There was this mention of the two characters having met before...but then that kind of fell away. I wish that would have been explored more...I wish that would have came back into the play. I felt like it could have been bigger.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

I liked this book but the attraction between Vik and Harper seemed a little forced at times. For me, I had a hard time connecting this book as a MC book as there was little to no interaction with the Club or many of its members.

I enjoyed Inked for what it was -- a steamy romance. However, I tend to enjoy a bit more substance with my romance and, for the most part, I found Inked to be lacking in that department. I get that the Dare imprint is meant to introduce steamy books that include a crapload of sex, however, there needs to be more than sex when all is said and done. That wasn't the case here. I didn't care for the male lead front the get-go; there's a way to approach a bad boy character, the way Vik was developed felt like every fantasy mixed together and not necessarily in a good way. He wasn't the "bad guy with a good heart," a trope that when handled well is highly enjoyable. Instead, Vik was simply Vik the dick... until the very final chapter, when it felt like his realization of his feelings for Harper were rushed.

Overall, I didn't dislike Inked. It was okay, but it could have been so much more.

I like this author, and I am always drawn to her stories. I know I will get a well written book, with characters I can relate to and sexual chemistry that was scorching.

Harper and Vik have a history...although only one of them remembers it. Harper wants a tattoo, a way to show the past is in her past, and she wants to commemorate that.

There isn't a lot to this story that is particularly unique, but at the same time it is satisfying, and you enjoy it. I know I did.

I recommend this title.

Inked is the second novel in the Hard Riders MC series and the third Harlequin Dare novel I've read, and while I wasn't in love with the preceding novel in this series, Ruled, at least I knew what to expect in this one, plenty of sex scenes, and this book certainly delivered them. I've become rather addicted to MC romances, although not much time in this novel is spent inside one, nor is there much mention of MC business aside from a meeting or two, but, at least the preceding novel in this series had something resembling a plot, while this one really didn't, which is why I'm giving this one only a 2-star rating.

As the novel opens, we first meet the hero, Vik, a heavily tattooed tattoo artist, contemplating what he'd like to do the somewhat inebriated heroine, Harper, who, after returning to her apartment after work and discovering that her boyfriend had not only kicked her out, but had also hired a service to pack up all her belongings and stow them in the garage came up with a plan. Her solution was to call her friend, Brooklyn, who joined her in getting sloshed and getting a room at the Bellagio. She's also decided she wants a tattoo to commemorate this life event, and Vik is only too happy to provide her with one, while admiring the body before him. Harper is also attracted to the great big, heavily muscled, MC riding, long-haired blond and best tattoo artist in Las Vegas.

What follows is simple. Vik agrees to be Harper's booty call. Apparently sex without a relationship is what he does best, and something he's probably done to hundreds, if not thousands of other women along the way, but somehow, buttoned-up banker, Harper, is the exception to his once and done rule, and since these two hit it off in bed as though they were made for each other, they agree to be each other's booty call in the future. That is pretty much all that happens in this novel, and while Ms. Marsh can certainly write hot and steamy sex scenes, I kept waiting for something more to happen, but it didn't.

While I found this to be a fun and hot read thanks to its two engaging main characters and their senses of humor, it was pretty much one sex scene after another, only the location and position of their almost non-stop sexcapades varied. While I know that the Dare imprint is intended to replace the Blaze imprint, at least the majority of the Blaze novels I've read in the past found time to include a plot and some drama, but the boy meets girl, they get in on a lot, she wants a relationship, he doesn't trope just wasn't enough to provide any sort of depth to this story. Of course, there's an HEA ending as expected, but even that was a bit jarring as Vik makes an emotional turnaround so fast that if you blinked, you missed it.

If a sizzling hot read is what you're seeking, I think you'll enjoy this one, but if you like some substance to your novels, some connection between the hero and heroine aside from their sexual relationship, some character development, some suspense, some action, you won't find it here.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

We met Vik very briefly in book one of the series (and it was nice to see Rev pop up in this one), and so I’m guessing that book three will feature Romeo, who popped up a few times in this one.

Vik, so named because he has long blonde hair and is tall and built because of his Norwegian heritage (Viking, geddit?), is a tattoo artist. When drunk banker Harper shows up at his tattoo parlour in Las Vegas at two in the morning, she wants a tattoo to celebrate a new her. She’s just been kicked out of her home by her douchebag ex after she found out he was cheating on her and she wants to let loose a little. So she lets Vik pick the tattoo, a firebird he puts on the small of her back (can anyone say tramp stamp?). She quickly realises he doesn’t remember her – they had sex in the back of his car in high school.

Vik is floored that he’s had sex with Harper before and can’t remember her, because she’s gorgeous and he wants her. When he hears her sad tale of woe, he offers to be her booty call. She finds that she can’t resist and they’re soon hooking up every chance they get. Over the course of the book, Harper realises she’s in love with him and it’s not just sex for her. She tells him this, and what does he do? Pushes her away. Bikers are not one of my favourite themes because I find the whole ‘I don’t need just one woman in my life, even though I want to settle down, because I’m a tough biker and can have any woman I want’ trope to be getting rather tiresome. And so it is with Vik, who refuses to admit he is ready to settle down with Harper and does love her, even after his fellow bikers tell him what a tool he’s being. He eventually gets the memo and the way he attempts to win her back is rather amusing. I really liked that Harper didn’t cave straight away, either. She was hurt and it showed.

Can we talk about the cover? Vik is a blonde Norse God. The cover model, while attractive, is not. I also noticed that Harper gets this massive tattoo on her back in the wee hours of the morning, but then spends part of the next day swimming. Vik also takes her up against the glass in her hotel room, which her back is up against. Surely her back would be tender? Being banged up against some glass and going swimming would be off the menu, I would have imagined. Not that I have a tattoo, mind you, but that would seem like common sense to me.

Vik and Harper get their happy ending. I really liked Harper, but I oscillated on Vik a little. I think I liked Rev and Evie from the first book better. Still, this one is worth the read, but be warned – there’s a lot of graphic language.

I received this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Harper is trying to get over her boyfriend giving her the boot and she decides to celebrate by getting a tattoo. She walks into Vik’s shop on the strip in Vegas and asks him to give her something. Vik can’t keep his eyes off her, and convicts himself that she would be a great fling for a week or so. But he’s not a long term relationship man. So he decides he could even help Harper find Mr. Right while he is her best friend with benefits. Of course, the best laid plans...

Okay, so I have to admit that I may have a teensy thing for cute and quirky motorcycle romance books. I mean, sometimes it’s nice to not have blood, rape, war, who knows what else that can accompany a romance with some bikers. This was a nice light romance (not light on the sexy details though). I liked the interactions between Harper and Vik. Granted their initial interactions with each other did feel a little rushed but that might have been because the book overall was short. If I could have my cake and eat it too there would have been a little more build up between them before they started exploring their relationship. Another reason that I only rated it 3 stars was because of the plot. It was a little stilted and could have been more detailed and a little more interesting. We got a little glimpse of Vik’s dad but it didnt really go anywhere. I could have had a little more to the plot besides the two of them romancing each other. But I loved Vik. He was such a cuddly giant teddy bear that tried to act tough. It was really cute. I loved his way of enacting the Christmas Song, it was pretty darn sweet.

I’ll read other books in the series, and I did miss the first book so I will go back and try that one as well.

Wow, is it hot in here or just me?

I was kindly sent a few books from Mills and Boon from the Dare series and I had to pick up Inked first. I am a tattoo lover. I have 7 and guys with tattoos are my favourite so of course, I had to read this book about a guy who is a tattoo artist.

In this book we meet Harper. Recently broken up with her ex, had a few drinks and wants a tattoo. She and her friend go to a tattoo shop so she can get a tattoo to start over. But, to her surprise she sees Vik. Vik is a guy she knew from years ago. She remembers him but, he doesn't remember her. Vik is hot, covered in tattoos and instantly attracted to Harper.

After a talking for a bit, and a possible hook up they decide to keep hooking up, without the feelings and just for fun. No talking too much about their lives. But, as the time passes, feelings get involved and with things going on in Vik's life is he ready to take that step forward with Harper? Or will he push her away?

I loved this book. Harper likes order, she likes to plan but, she isn't afraid to get down and dirty. Vik wants what he wants and isn't afraid to fight for it. He doesn't want to get feelings involved but, with a girl like Harper is he willing to break the rules?

This book is filled with romance, laughter, drama and some heartbreaking moments. Harper is wonderful and I really enjoyed reading about her and her relationship with Vik. Yes, he will annoy her sometimes but, he does know how to put a smile on her face. They both have their differences but, bring out the best in each other and they don't realises how deep and close they are getting to each other and I just loooooove it!

A wonderful story from Anne and I can't recommend it enough to everyone who loves a good romance story and tattoos!

Colorful Friends to Lovers/Second Chance (sort of) Love Story

The blurb is a little deceptive - it’s not so much the heroine’s hesitance about dating a MC member; it’s the hero’s belief that he can’t love (or doesn’t know what it is) and that they have a purely FWB arrangement.

Because it’s a huge plot-point at the beginning, it made me want to scream a little with frustration that the heroine got a complex shaded large tattoo on her back (a tramp stamp) and yet, no mention of the aftercare involved with it - no moisturizer, no plastic covering, no pain medication, no bandages to protect the scabbing...and she goes out the next night and gets pounded against some glass (with her *back to the glass*!) a day or so after getting the tattoo! Augh!

That said the MMC and FMC were entertaining in an Odd Couple way. Although, he didn’t really show her what being an MC’s old lady would be like since he didn’t share much of that with her...it’s very fantasy based. (I’m guessing - I don’t personally know any bikers).

The story ends at 90%, with a chapter of a different book at the end, and a listing of other books in the DARE imprint. So, I expected a little more story than was there. No epilogue or *finish*, if you know what I mean.

An OK story, wasn't horrible but didn't really stand out, either. Too many storylines that weren't properly explained or fleshed out.

I am pretty sure I will forget this by the end of the week. It was an easy read and nothing majorly wrong with it, just nothing memorable either.

Hard working, no-nonsense Harper catches her dud boyfriend cheating on her and decides to get tattooed, while drunk, by the disgustingly sexy Vik who just happens to be one of her past conquests. He doesn't remember her. After agreeing to being fuck buddies, they bang all around Las Vegas, and eventually realize they are in fact, in love.

I'm getting tired of the "hot, male tattoo artist teaching repressed young virginal girl how to let go" trope, but I guess not tired enough to not finish reading this short, novella length selection from the new Dare imprint. The character development was uneven and I wished some of the insignificant details were left out.

Why did Harper have a past with Vik? I never felt this was resolved in a sufficient manner to actually matter to the story. Also, after Vik runs away when Harper admits she loves him, I didn't buy his quick turnaround.

The sexy times were steamy, and I appreciated the cat rescue.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!

Cute, hot and sexy! With the next book in the Hard Riders MC series, we get bad boy Vik's story. He's a major player, but he just might make an exception when he meets a good girl too hard to resist! I loved the characters and their cute connection. There's really very little MC lifestyle shown in the book, but overall I enjoyed it!

Investment banker Harper is tired of living the laid back, staid lifestyle that has left her alone and looking to start over. She's going to shake things up and live it up for once ... starting with her first tattoo!

Tattoo artist and motorcycle club member Vik isn't one for settling into a relationship, but one look at Harper has him sitting up and taking notice. Add the fact that he gets to touch her and make his permanent mark on her? Oh yeah, he's ready to get down to business with this chick!

Well hello disappointment.

Any book that starts out with a guy claiming the girl as his own in the first chapter is a book I want to like. But it just went down hill and all over the place from there.
We got:
•They slept together in the last but he forgot her
•He desperately wants her but his proposition will only be as a booth fall
•Yet he suggests she moved in and they become best friends
•Oh but then he helps her start dating
•She loves him
•He doesn't feel the same
•On wait he does! But it's too late
•So he tries to win her back with the 12 days of Christmas... In September
No really that's what he does. It's supposed to be cute because it means he's looking forward to the future. I tried to see it as romantic but it just turned out weird

But that was the full problem with this book, it just took a ton of plot points, three them at a wall and hoped some stuck.

This is book 2 in the Hard Riders series and it features Vik and Harper. Awesome writing! Harper is sweet and vulnerable but strong at the same time. She comes off timid and vanilla at first but when she meets Vik she turns into a different woman. Vik is AMAZING! He’s cocky, confident and uber sexy. He can definitely talk-the-talk and walk-the-walk. These two are total opposites that couldn’t be more perfect for each other...except Vik doesn’t do love.

Fantastic story line with totally amazing characters! Two books in and I can’t wait for the third! This author has done a fabulous job at writing story lines that are made up of real emotions from ex-military, biker men, who don’t really express all those mushy, lovey dovey feelings. BRILLIANT!!

Bad biker boys and bankers, can anything be as hot? This was book 2 in this series, but for reading it as a standalone you wouldn't miss much. The scenes were steamy, the story was all right. I really enjoyed this story and it kept me occupied nicely on a plane trip through some rough weather! If you are looking for steam and heat and well...SEX, take a look at this book or series. The only problem I had with the book was the ending. The ending seemed a bit forced as if we just wanted to get to a HEA, I would have loved to see a bit more of the 12 days of Christmas....so many ideas that could have happened! But for this new line for Harlequin, I don't think you'd be too disappointed in the delivery of some hot steaming magic!

Harper is out for revenge after her boyfriend leaves her. The breakup pushes Harper to do something outside her comfort zone. Will the tattoo artist be what she needs to move forward and discover she's worth it?

A story of a woman out to conquer her life, her desires, and with a man she least expected. This is a hot and steamy read of a man who will discover that doesn't really want to live a life alone.

Don't be surprised if you find a desire to get a tattoo after reading this story. Hopefully the artist is as creative as Vik :)

A really good second book in the Hard Riders MC series. It is hot and sexy. Though you don't get very much of the MC world in this one it is still just fine by me. Vik and Harper are hot and heavy. Neither are looking for a relationship. But you can't help but see the spark from the beginning. I love the lengths Vik goes once he owns up to how he feels. That right there made the biker tattoo artist swoon worthy. I love that this series you can read as a stand alone too. Can't wait to read more of this series.

Inked

Vik and Harper's story was good but for me not as good as the first book.

They met at a ratio parlor Vik works at and instant attraction. However, Vik is not a long term guy and Harper is. They agree to be sex buddies but you know women's hearts always get involved.

Can Vik choose to love Harper or walk away and live his life like he always does wide open with a new girl every night

A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. I had no idea this was part of a series. So it totally reads as a stand alone. I liked this story. I enjoyed the characters, and the setting. I am also a tattoo virgin but have heard lots of stories. This was different but good. Truly enjoyed it.

Another DNF for me. I have to be honest, I am not into MC books. I thought Vik was a little over the top for me. I just could not get into this one.
