Focusing on Cornwall county in southwest England, this book examines the folklore of the area, such as the seasonal customs, traditions, rituals, and taboos.
Took a while to finish this because I set it aside for a couple years. It’s basically a mostly not-documented compendium of folklore, much of which is fascinating. I am not an historian or folklorist, who seem to report having issues with the book, but I do appreciate the effort of the authors here. Perhaps sometimes a niche topic is just a bit too niche for the commercial market to take on, so it is left to the passionate amateur experts to work their magic. I appreciate that.
This is poorly organized, and poorly sourced. But it is a gold mine of awesome stories, if told in a mildly condescending tone. Amateur folklorists are so valuable and so irritating.
