The articles in this book touch on different areas that George Williams touched on in various ways throughout his academic career. As with many such festschrifts, the collection is somewhat uneven, although the articles are by many recognizable scholars from the middle-to-late 20th century: Jaroslav Pelikan, Giles Consable, Franklin Littell, Seven Ozment, Sydney Ahlstrom, etc. The essays cover a breadth of church history from the period of the early church through more modern issues. Some of the essays are now outdated, which make them less helpful, particularly on periods, theory, and so forth. Overall, some of the essays still have value, while others are less relevant today.
