Bru Baker writes sophisticated gay romantic fiction with strong characters, real-world problems, and plenty of humor.

Bru spent fifteen years writing for newspapers before making the jump to fiction. She now balances her time between writing and working at a Midwestern library in the reference department. Whether it’s creating her own characters or getting caught up in someone else’s, there’s no denying that Bru is happiest when she’s engrossed in a story. She and her husband have two children, which means a lot of her books get written from the sidelines of various sports practices.

I wouldn’t say that this book is sophisticated — taking into mind the claim in the author’s biography. However, if you do put in place the situation and the trajectory of the story… well, whatever !

There isn’t much to say about this book aside from that I enjoyed it. It’s a short story so it is pretty straight forward. It followed a lovely couple who’re both swamped by work. In turn, their relationship suffered from it. And being a human, they can be rather clingy and needs attention.

The choice of scenario was really great. It was relatable — or at least if you already know the life of a working person — and gave that strong connection as you’re reading it. Both of the characters were lovely and didn’t feel 2D. Their connection was fantastic as well. They know each other enough to understand that their current situation is something that they cannot control, but still comes out pouty in the end. I mean, who isn’t like that ? You’re too mature and serious for this world.

Overall, Rx for Sex did what it was intended to do. It was short, refreshing, and entertaining. The end part of the book was absolutely adorable as well and it makes you want to read more of the authors work.

I found this to be a nicely developed short story. There is enough background established to let you develop an interest in the couple that the happy for now ending didn't feel rushed. A nice little look into the life and struggle of this couple to find time for each other in the rush and struggles of their world. Enjoyed it.

An interesting and well developed short story of dealing with the stress of work separation in a relationship. Dealing with night shifts, frequent calls, and ever changing schedules is a stress on any relationship, even one where both participants are in that situation and go in eyes wide open about it. As short staffing in the hospital drives this couple apart they have to find a way to continue to connect to each other and make it through. Steamy and sweet short!

Short story. 18 pages. It was free through Prolific Works.

I’m kinda lenient with short stories when it comes to ratings. The MCs are Charlie and Barr. Two busy hospital professionals who seem to be ships passing in the night, no time for each other. Charlie then succeeds with surprising Barr with a sexy and romantic interlude. It was sweet, cute, realistic and had an HFN. Also there were no glaring editing issues.

The set-up of the problem is good; an established couple who are both busy with their works, and have a problem to find a time for just the two of them. BUT what came next wasn't satisfying for me *shrugs*

Short story but well developed and written. The author managed to pack in few pages enough background and character description to enjoy this scene taken out of the very real life of stressed doctors whose shifts never match but who desperately need to reconnect in order to function as a couple and a professional.

It can be hard making time for a relationship when you work in the health care field, however this short story does show that it is important to take time for your partner. It can be hard to keep things going without talking or when you get no time together.

Short, sweet and at one point a little steamy.

Sometimes when relationships start going south, you have to dig deep and change things up. I would have never thought a prescription would be needed for such a change but this was definitely a cute twist.
