Ok, this just did not work for me. The pictures were beautiful and the Scripture was good, as is natural, BUT. Since I only read the Scripture snippets and powered through, I realized that a few verses were re-used. A lot. Granted, had I read each section daily, it would not have been as noticeable and it may have stuck for longer. Repetition = memorization and who couldn’t use more Scripture at their memory’s beck and call?
Why, then, did I forgo those positives and skip portions and speed through the book, gorgeous pictures and all?
I am not a fan of humans writing from the imagined POV of Jesus. Yes, it was written for good from a good place, BUT it just sits poorly with me.
If that one issue doesn’t bother you or you want to read something more personal than the average devotional, then this is most definitely for you. It didn’t work for me, but that doesn’t mean it won’t work for a lot of other people. I wish it DID work for me, I wanted to like this more than I did.

I have read some of Sarah Young's Jesus Calling books in the past. None of them compare to this one. The selections of verses and devotionals and reflections in this book fit perfectly for the Christmas season and would be apropos for the entire winter season. The illustrations are lush and beautiful throughout. Reading this book was like a daily little gift to myself of sitting down to a cup of tea with a friend and peacefully meditating on God's word. This is a book that I will be bringing out each Christmas/winter season to add to my daily time with God. I loved this beautiful book and gave many away as gifts this year.

I absolutely loved this devotional. The photographs were stunning, the devotions were personal and applicable for any season and exactly what I needed each day. The verses were appropriate for the thoughts shared and encouraging. I will definitely read this one again and again.

I think that people will most like the more traditional faith based comfort that this book provides. I did not feel like it was too over the top and I really enjoy the various selections that were chosen to be included. I think that older readers might want this as a gift and to share it will little ones in a more easy to understand way. It is compact enough to take on a medium sized bag for on the go and short enough to read in sections if you want to spend more time with it.

I just love how Sarah Young shares her Jesus Calling books. They are truly a gift. The illustrations and style of writing are perfect for the holiday season. I plan on pulling this book out every Christmas and setting it on the coffee table for anyone to flip through. It's such a blessing.

“Take a break from trying to figure everything out.” Reading this, from the perspective of Jesus talking to me, hit home. These are short devotionals that give Jesus a 1st person voice based on scripture and there are beautiful pictures throughout (of words and photographs). It was given to me as a gift and I appreciated it very much, especially for this Christmas season.

Most of us find ourselves over-extended during the Christmas holidays and if you are like me, you find you often let your devotional time slide or be shortened with the promise to yourself…”I will do better tomorrow”. When I received this little Christmas Devotional I was blown away with it being written as though Jesus was speaking directly to me. It made me feel as though he and I were having a personal one-on-one conversation. This will make a huge impact on my devotional time during this coming holiday season! Not only are the scriptures and words uplifting, but the pictures are stunning and peaceful. I am excited to know that I can spend quality time with God’s word during the holidays with this little book. It has been hard to put it aside to wait until Advent to finish it. (I probably won’t wait as I never get tired of hearing the Christmas Story). My only wish for the book is that all scripture was labeled with the translation they were taken from.
The book is hard-cover, small and easy to carry with you so you can even use it during your lunch hour or while waiting in the grocery check-out line. It has 50 devotions all related to the season. In addition to the devotions you will be able to read the story of Christmas too! If you have never read one of Sarah Young’s “Jesus Calling” books you have no idea what you are missing. I would recommend giving this one a try. I am sure once you read it…you will be buying another to give as a gift.

Devotionals during the holidays are a lot of fun. If gives you an intentional place for quiet during the busy times and it helps you retain focus on whats important. I like doing Christmas devotionals or Advent devotionals during the holidays because it gives me a nice break from the oridinary ones I do everyday.
Jesus Calling for Christmas is actually part of the Jesus Calling series of books by the same author. Sarah Young takes us on a Christmas journey into the birth of our Savior. Each page is divided up to present His birth the way it was presented all those years ago. This beautifully bound book with its beautiful prose and Scripture is also a great gift during the holiday season.

A friend recently said to me "...so don't talk to me about snow [longingly]" since she encountered some very harsh winters as an unwarned, young adult. I, however, grew up with Lake Erie Ohio snow effect, and enjoyed what were rare quiet, playful or restful days on a busy dairy farm in the 1960s.
So Sarah Young brings The Bible, the peace of The Lord, and beautiful mid-west seeming winter time imagery to a loving presentation of Christ's care for us. It's like growing up again, on the nice days. Looking forward to resting my current days with this Biblical inspiration. Scriptures are included, beautifully. Sarah YoungJesus Calling for Christmas

Jesus Calling For Christmas is the latest book by Sarah Young. I have enjoyed reading Sarah's other books Jesus Calling and Jesus Always. I can always add another Christmas advent book to my collection.
Jesus Calling for Christmas is a gorgeous book. It is a small hardcover book (it is also available in Kindle I see). It is so exquisitely decorated and illustrated. Just lovely.
In Jesus Calling for Christmas, Sarah Young converts scripture to Jesus speaking to us in the first person. Powerful. I find this book to be very inspiring.
This book, Jesus Calling For Christmas, can be read and enjoyed by young and old alike. It would make a lovely gift for someone. It would make a lovely gift for yourself!
I highly recommend Jesus Calling for Christmas. It is a devotional that is a wonderful addition to my Christmas books.

Do you love Christmas? Do you love books that have beautiful pictures and have everything to do with Jesus? Me too! Jesus Calling for Christmas is this beautiful seasonal devotional that is absolutely breathtaking. The imagery and scripture makes me feel like I am in the scene of a beautiful winter wonderland. From the beginning of Advent to Christmas Day, enjoy being in the presence of the one who made you, understands you and loves you! I imagine reading this book around the Christmas tree with a warm cup of tea, curled up in a blanket with my Bible. I loved this beautiful devotional and you will too! It makes the perfect gift! Grab a copy today or pick up one as a Christmas gift. I give this book 5/5 stars.

JESUS CALLING FOR CHRISTMAS is an absolutely beautifully done gift devotional (for you, a family member, or a friend) with 50 heartwarming devotions, beautiful pictures with verses, and encouragement.
In Ms. Young's trademark style, these devotions are written in first person as if Jesus Himself were writing them. The verses are in the NIV version, if you are a member of the KJV only crowd.
I absolutely LOVE this devotional and will be putting it out for any and all to use as they visit our home during this holiday season and will likely use it for family devotions as well. Maybe even personal ones. This warms my heart.

When I first received this book, I was a bit confused by the concept of the author writing from the first person voice of God. It seemed a bit sacrilegious to “put words in the mouth” of God, as we as humans cannot hope to understand God well enough to know what God is thinking.
However, by using the Bible as the foundation for the writing portions and showing the direct quotations from the Bible passages that were referenced in the writing, I thought the author pulled off this style of writing well.
I do wish that the book was written more in an “Advent devotional” manner though. The verses and reading portions blended together after a while of reading it. I definitely recommend reading each portion slowly and thinking about it before moving on to the next page.

This little devotional is not just for Christmas. It can speak to you any time of the year. The devotions are short. So if you just have a minute, you'll be able to get into God's word and ponder it with Sarah Young's in sight. She writes the devotion as if God, Himself, is speaking to you. This makes the thoughts more personal. I suggest you bookmark special ones that you need to go back to. The devotion is accompanied by beautiful pictures of winter and appropriate scriptures. When the scriptures are linked to the devotion, you will be inspired to memorize that scripture. This is a book to be savored over and over again.

Naturally there’s a lot of overlap and repetition, but overall it does a good job at highlighting the themes of Advent. And the devotions and Bible verses are accompanied with stunningly beautiful scenic photos that capture the majesty and wonder of nature. Jesus Calling for Christmas is an inspirational and moving devotional that’s sure to enhance one’s appreciation for the season.

I hate to say this, but the book didn’t work for me. The images were beautiful and I loved how it was written like Jesus himself was saying these things to you (which was a neat POV), but I found it so repetitive. Many of the same verses were in here more than once. If that would have happened just once or twice I’d be more okay with it, but it happened several times. I just feel like the author could have used different verses instead of the same ones over and over and gotten the message across better that way. Overall it is a cute little Christmas devotional book, I just think there are better alternatives.

Aber schade, dass ich starke Gefühle nur am Anfang des Buchs gefühlt habe. Ich glaube, dass man sehr konzentriert beim Lesen sein muss, um diese Gefühle zu erleben.
Die Texte sind auch gut geschrieben, aber manchmal prägt man sich den Inhalt der Texte nicht gut aus😅

Jesus Calling for Christmas is written as if Jesus was speaking straight to you. While this does not bother me, it might bother others. I enjoyed reading this book, but I like her Jesus Calling, more than this one.
I loved the beautiful pictures and selected scriptures. This is a great devotional to read during the Christmas season. A lot of time and attention went into the making of this devotional.

This was a gift, and I decided to read it to give a different flavor to my quiet time during the last month of the year. I can't say I love the "Jesus Calling" books, or that I will keep this - but it is full of Scripture and pretty pictures, and there have been a few "zingers" that hit me just right in the actual text of the book. So I can't complain. I'm just not a big coffee table book person, I guess.

The Lord put us in this path, not just for Christmas, but he wants us to stay in his word every day of the week he is powerful. He put us in the right path every time we see him he gives us scripture to remember his grateful power he sees us, everything that we do and he says where we are coming from we are having tough times he makes things greater because he’s powerful greater savior and Jesus Christ

Even if the book was the last one I read for the year, I probably would have said that it was the best of all the books I had read. God speaks in the first person, saying what wonderful things lie ahead if we just ask, seek and knock. If this book had more than five stars, I would definitely give it extra stars. Wonderful book!

This was a beautiful devotional. There were many lessons that were of deep truth and something that needed to be remembered. The only complaint I have is that it didn't review the Christmas story. Yes, there were scriptures from it to help enforce the lesson but nothing actually covering the Christmas story. Overall, this was a wonderful companion to the Christmas season.

A sweet Advent devotional meant to be contemplated in reflective prayer. I started it at Advent, but realized there is more content than could be done in 31 days. Since it isn't numbered, I did the equivalent of about two devotionals each day. It could be stretched into the new year for the month of January. I really enjoyed the gorgeous, winter, nature photographs.

Jesus Calling now has quite a following so we thought this would be great devotional for Christmas. The pictures are lovely. We did not find anything different in this book that made it special for Christmas. That was disappointing. In checking the credits page we found these devotionals were collected from the other Jesus Calling books. I would just stick with the original book.

A sweet and simple Christmas devotional to help you prepare for Christmas. The scriptures referenced were on point and the photography inside is lovely. Jesus Calling books aren't my favorite style, but I imagine many people will enjoy this Christmas edition.
