Scott Snyder is the Eisner and Harvey Award winning writer on DC Comics Batman, Swamp Thing, and his original series for Vertigo, American Vampire. He is also the author of the short story collection, Voodoo Heart, published by the Dial Press in 2006. The paperback version was published in the summer of 2007.
Wow, I am impressed, they managed to make the last issue awesome! The heroes from the house of heroes that were the main reason they wrote the wild hunt issue were pretty much useless, I am not sure why we needed them. But all those issues I was grumpy about made reading the last issue a more pleasant experience, if the setup was boring, the result wasn't at all. And yeah this is the end of the event, I have been reading so much comics because of this, several issues daily. It really filled my days with tons of entertainment. That fight where Batman and the Joker collaborated was epic, and the scene when batman superman and Wonder woman came out of the world forge dressed in the X metal was so beautiful, that's what hope looks like 😭 Next for me is a modern marvel run, maybe for the first time ever other than Gwenpool which shouldn't really count. And yeah by the way no justice is also written by Scott Snyder, I will read it either later this year or at the start of next year. But I expect the fun to continue because I am going to read another awesome comic next, Let's Go!
Snyder's Dark Knights: Metal is a Crisis-scale crossover event that introduces the existence of a Dark Multiverse (basically multiverse where everything has gone bad). It is a story that spans from deep down the very foundations of the DC universe up to the very core of the Justice League heroes, from the past to the present and the beyond.
For a grand scale tale like this, it is almost impossible to tell Metal in a straightforward manner where all the players and characters are well-known by everybody. You need a vast knowledge of the DC publications to fully appreciate what the series offers. Many times it made me confused thinking what the hell happened and what the dialogue is referring to.
But personally, the ends justifies the means. Issue number six gave me a very satisfying payoff to the investment I have devoted not only in reading Metal's 25+ issues, but reading DC comics for almost a decade now.
True to the publisher's mantra of bringing back hope and optimism, Metal brings back that old feeling in comics where good is good, heroes are heroes. It has successfully reinvigorated what DC Comics is and defined a right course of what it will be in the future. Unlike past crisis-level events that reboots, Dark Nights Metal fully embraces DCs past and merging them with the new towards a new age of comics, while still retaining the core values of what superheroes really are.
Issue six itself is nothing but a very, very fulfilling read. Snyder and Capullo has never given their readers any sense of hope of victory until the very last issue. Like the previous five issues, #6 is very much self-aware that it is a Metal issue. It is screamingly loud and wild. I absolutely love that. It could have used a couple more issues to iron out some issues but I couldn't complain because it is that good.

Megaevent is the right word for this , Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo reunited for this Mega event that includes homages to all the work done by the duo and culminates in a very dark and fantastic fun filled story .
The initial plot was very complicated to get into , but once you get the gist of it , you feel yourself getting really involved in the story , with the initial issues forcing you to admire Batman and his intellect and latter issues making you wonder how Batman's paranoia could result in a disturbing world .
The dark universes were really interesting and some of the dark Batmen were also very nicely written but in the end the big baddie Barbatos and Hawkman felt very insignificant to the story despite them being the key characters in the story .
Also somehow despite spanning 26 books to tell the story the ending felt very abrupt and forced and in the end the events that transpired to turn the tides back to the heroes favor came out of nowhere and some of it I'm still a bit confused .
Overall i'd say the whole Metal saga is worth a 3.5 out of 5 stars
I really liked how this tied everything together. Was this event amazing literature? No. But damn, it was full of fun and really great art. I like the changes to the DC universe (especially in regards to May's No Justice continuation and what has happened to the Source Wall), and I feel like this really helps advance the Rebirth storyline. Can't wait to see where DC goes with the aftermath of this.
Also, really liked the theme of love and family (which is really odd and at first glance doesn't seem to fit with this event). I teared up towards the end of this issue reading Wonder Woman's dialogue and Carter Hall's journal.
Definitely worth the read, however the side issues could be skipped without missing anything.
Bruce. It sounds like what you're saying is our universe. The whole thing...is a tiny fishbowl.. That just got poured into the damn ocean
Dark Nights: Metal has come at its end and the title sure lived up to the series. But my problem in this is that they overstuffed everything at the final issue(I really hope they make this as a 10 issue event oh well). They make a good job on adding almost everything at the end including the Over-Monitor and the Dreaming but in the end you could notice that their's too much moving pieces in the finale that totally needed a spotlight like WHERE THE HELL IS DREAM.
I meeting alot of fanboy right now saying that if this guy is still alive he deal with Barbatos all my himself with a handfull of sand.
But despite all of that DC:Metal is one hell of a event opening a gateway for more cosmic stuff for DC universe story.
AGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! Okay, Marvel. You’re totes done for now. Just walk away. End it. CANCELED. Stick to the MCU because DC Comics take it with this epic, hardcore event. All of the Dark Nights Metal and beyond. Holy shitzies. You win, DC. You win.
They weren’t kidding, this was METAL as f*ck. While this final issue is somewhat a plot explosion, it succeeds because Snyder and Capullo create such a fun, brutal atmosphere and truly shine by showing their love for and knowledge of the DC pantheon. This issue had everything a comic book should—hope, camaraderie, redemption, and kick-ass fight scenes. And if you're a diehard fan of classic DC, you’re not going to be disappointed. PLASTICMAN FTW! I won’t give anything away, but the Batman/Joker duo part of the story has to be one of the most amazing bits I’ve seen in a comic EVER.
And this whole event (and ending) sets us up so nicely for DC’s New Age of Heroes and the upcoming Justice Lost series. DC's future is looking bright. Snyder handled the intricacies of the story so well and Capullo’s artwork is just killer (no surprise there). I’ve never been so excited for a comic event and the finale did not disappoint. Was it perfect? No. Do I care? Also, no, because of the sheer unadulterated joy I felt while taking this journey. It was a huge reminder to why I love DC and comics in general and makes me SO pumped for DC's future.
You know the word kick-ass? Y'now what Dark Nights Metal is? Ya, they are basically the same thing. For the big finale to Dark Nights Metal #6 we have a giant ass DC nerdgasm battle with probably 5 or 6 reveals and twists that made me go OHHH SH****TT!!!! Everything from this DC event culminates here. And if you haven't been paying attention to all the stuff about Metal, multiverses, Carter Hall, or the forge you will be LOST. This book had me glued to it and there are so many amazing, bad-ass moments that of course, I loved. I also loved how frickin bad-ass Wonder Woman and Green Lantern have been for these last few issues. My main problem with this issue is how damn quickly it wraps up. The Justice League (excluding Flash for some reason, who never makes an appearance until the end) hold hands and pooof! It cuts off a few awesome character moments that happen in the book, and honestly seemed kind of clichéd. My final gripe with this entire series really is just how underwhelming of a villain Barbatos was. He was a huge lumbering, evil lord that should definitely be feared. But he did not have many personal or intricate character traits other the fact that he is the Bat-god of the dark multiverse. All in all, a great nonstop thrill of an issue and event. The Forge and Casting was phenomenal and the best thing that came out of this event, but my favourite issue is still #2 followed closely by this one. Now on to No Justice. Letter Grade: (A-)
Not bad, not great. As I looked back on my ratings of the Metal series I realized I didn't really enjoy it as much as my ratings indicated. I really give the series as a whole about a 70 on a scale of 1 to 100. Don't get me wrong, I like Snyder pretty well usually & I think Capullo's artwork is always fantastic, but I think about the best thing to come from the Metal series is the new direction & new threats that have came about because of it. I'm looking forward to see what Snyder can do on a monthly basis now that he's taking over Justice League, because Rebirth Justice League, in my opinion, hasn't been that great, especially when compared to what G. Johns did with it in the New 52, not to mention other great runs like G. Morrison, M. Waide & even J. Kelly. I hoping Justice League's gonna be really fun again under Snyder, we'll see anyway.
Ya’ll might know how I feel about Batjokes and this whole conglomeration that was Barbatos was something I needed to see play out... which had a very satisfying fight.
Otherwise, I hate how many side comics there were in this event... I mean, where does The Signal come in if not from the main pages?? I liked the spin-offs/nightmare realms, but I feel like I’m still missing some story. I guess all comics are like that now so hey stayin true to the medium.
I think Metal did a lot of cool shit specifically to do cool shit and that’s kinda of how I feel comics really are. But maybe that’s going to piss off some people. Dig?
W/e rock on 🤟

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #32,
Terrific DARK NIGHTS series overall ends with something less than a bang. Lots of pretty cosmic glowing color cells in this one, though content-wise it is a bit longer and contains a denouement that's stronger than its climax. I feel that the the climatic rescue and resolution should have probably been done over two issues to balance the very many issues that gave lots of great action, storytelling, and surprises that for the most part were all defeating and dooming our heroes. So it should have taken them a tad bit longer to right everything than the over-too-soon ending delivered. I'm still reeling trying to absorb all the implications and there's a few threads left dangling...I won't say more so as not to reveal a thing or two, but there is definitely an extremely large failure to deliver on a great idea and apparent promise employed at the start. I was very excited to witness how it panned out, and instead of capitalizing on that, the writing ignored/omitted some key info and skipped to quickly through and then far too quickly forgot all about it without a backward glance. Head-scratcher, that.
I enjoyed the series immensely, loved several of the series titles, reveled in some great concepts/plot points/actions, and will definitely buy a hardcopy deluxe edition of the METAL run...but it's ending is a bit lame.
That was so awesome, and one of the most epic comic book issues I have ever read. I love how it wrapped up the metal storyline nicely, yet set up so many new events and things in the DC universe coming up. This series has been amazing and so much fun to read. I loved looking into Batman's character more, and how absolutely insane everything was. Reintroducing characters and paying homage to the characters of the DC universe made this series have such a large scale in the best way possible. It tied the whole DC universe together, and made everything feel interconnected. I cannot praise this series enough. It is a lot to take in, but it is such an amazing and fantastic event.
An awesome event comic, of which I bought almost every issue, but this concluding issue was not very good. The resolution felt rushed, the "set up for later" felt semi-forced, and for a comic that literally introduced a whole new multiverse and expanded the original, not much felt very new. And the 11th hour deus ex machina of using "10th" metal was kind of dumb. It just feels like they rushed out a conclusion as a result of missing their shipping deadline, which led to this book coming out after some of the books that spun out of it. To sum up - loved the event, didn't care for the conclusion.

3.5, rounded up. This does a good job of answering a lot of my "what in the hell is going on's?" from issues 3-5. Everything gets wrapped up in a nice little bow.
Snyder definitely loved the token cameos from the brand names in this story, but a lot of them is to set up what's next (it's so good to see Manhunter back). I need to re-read the whole story to give it a fair shake, but it almost felt like too much was crammed into six issues. Eight might've been better for a story of such "magnitude".
Dark Nights starts with an interesting enough premise a dark multiverse Giving us a evil Batman / Joker hybrid but in the end I found this typical of many of the huge crossover mega events it took a great idea from the classic "Crisis on infinite earths" and just reformatted it tweaked it here and there then over hyped it An ok read nothing really that new to see here just more of the same with a little shock value some interesting hybrids of heroes and villains but that's about all Kingdom Come it's not
Epic but flawed. The event gets too big for its own good, and the cast too is too huge to do everyone justice. Still, the central trio of Wonder Woman, Batman and Carter Hall get brilliant conclusions.
Sometimes, it feels like the Metal graphic novels may slip into the Dark under their own weight, but in the end, like the heroes' performance at the end, the conclusion does just enough to keep the world afloat and create an interesting ending to a crazy storyline.
It’s the end of the Dark Nights: Metal series. Yet the ending doesn’t truly end; instead, it opens more doors than it closes. That is the essence of mystery.
Where is Dream? What lies on the other side? What became of the Joker—cough—after teaming up with Batman in the final showdown against the Batman Who Laughs?
“For to be human, at its core, is to question and to quest. To seek answers about who we are, even when—or especially when—those answers remain beyond our grasp.”
How quickly the actual, *actual* ending happens makes the rest of this event seem like it really wasted a lot of time to stretch things out, but this ending really stuck the landing so I'll give that quibble a pass.
I loved reading the final book to this series. It kept me in suspense, and wondering what would happen next every other 2 pages. I loved the ending, and definitely picking up the next book in this story.
Well I delayed this read for far to long, but now that it’s done I’m interested to see this “New” direction in DC Comics. I say “new” because you can’t reboot your universe every couple of years and keep the new car smell. I’m optimistic, but time will tell.
My favourite issue of the series— It was amazing! Also, it did a great job setting up the future stories (future threats, “no justice”, “new age of heroes” etc.). The art was amazing. the whole thing was fantastic
