Reveals the Mayan calendar to be a spiritual device that describes the evolution of human consciousness from ancient times into the future
• Shows the connection between cosmic evolution and actual human history
• Provides a new science of time that explains why time not only seems to be speeding up in the modern world but is actually getting faster
• Explains how the end of the Mayan calendar is not the end of the world, but a path toward enlightenment
The prophetic Mayan calendar is not keyed to the movement of planetary bodies. Instead, it functions as a metaphysical map of the evolution of consciousness and records how spiritual time flows--providing a new science of time.
The calendar is associated with nine creation cycles, which represent nine levels of consciousness or Underworlds on the Mayan cosmic pyramid. Through empirical research Calleman shows how this pyramidal structure of the development of consciousness can explain things as disparate as the common origin of world religions and the modern complaint that time seems to be moving faster. Time, in fact, is speeding up as we transition from the materialist Planetary Underworld of time that governs us today to a new and higher frequency of consciousness--the Galactic Underworld--in preparation for the final Universal level of conscious enlightenment. Calleman reveals how the Mayan calendar is a spiritual device that enables a greater understanding of the nature of conscious evolution throughout human history and the concrete steps we can take to align ourselves with this growth toward enlightenment.
Carl Calleman earned his Ph.D. in Physical Biology from the University of Stockholm, where he was mentored by a Nobel Committee member.
In addition to being a Senior Environmental Researcher at The University of Washington /Seattle, he has served as a cancer expert for the World Health Organization. His articles have been quoted over 1500 times.
Calleman is recognized as the main proponent of the idea that the Mayan calendar reflects the evolution of consciousness. His three previous books on the subject include The Purposeful Universe (Inner Traditions, 2009), The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness (Inner Traditions, 2004), and Solving the Great Mystery of our Time (Garev, 2001).
man, what a load of hogwash. could say so much more but that would be a waste of my time——of which I have already devoted enough to reading this book (which I got halfway through before I had WAY too many red flags raised). this book is full of speculation that is not grounded in a scientifically-based analysis of the Mayan Calendar.
I was introduced to the Mayan Calendar in 2009 by a coworker that prompted me to purchase this book. I was intrigued by the idea that life evolved in progressive stages that were accelerating over time. It was evident that things were moving very fast in our time, but could the idea be as far reaching as the book claimed? I purchased "Smithsonian Timelines of the Ancient World" and looked at the correlation between when things happened in the evolution of life and what the Mayan Calendar was forecasting. The fact that the Mayan Calendar was developed in ancient times made the correlation even more eye-opening. The forces that are driving evolution are far more complex than we know.
I really wish I paid more attention in world history class....Calleman looks at the Mayan Calendar and explains his theory on how it works. Unlike our physical based Gregorian calendar; the Mayans calendar charts shifts in consciousness that dates back to the big bang, the start of life on the planet, the rise of civilizations and goes until Dec 21, 2012 - then it ends. The calendar also predicts when major things happened in the world which Calleman traces & cross references - heady stuff. Hard to wrap my brain around. So what's coming? A major shift in thought - melding of the world; no more domination of one over another (both nationally, culturally, sexually, even left brain vs right brain function)....whew, deep stuff. Hand Clow then takes it even further.... New book coming this fall, can't wait. Check out his website.
He breaks down ALL history fitting into an interpretation of the mayan calender. He claims that there are cycles that similar events happen during one of the thirteen phases/heavens (7 days, 6 nights). On the 13th heaven the fruit of that consciousness ensues and then it moves to the next evolving consciousness. Each one stacks up, like the mayan pyramids and gets smaller, in time. I like the holographic resonance theories; where the Schuman resonance Hz links with Hz at different mental states and his ideas of different parts of the world relating to different parts of the brain and thinking. I don't know how substantial it is, but very entertaining.
The YouTube videos by Ian Xel Lungold completely unravel the mystery of what the Mayans were tracking with their "calendar." There are 19 segments on YouTube. Segments 1-16 each come up automatically but you will need to do another search for segments 16-19. Over 3 hours of amazingly and fundamentally logical information and assessment of what the Maya were aware of and how it all "makes sense!" Needless to say, this information is NEW to many people since most religions want us to believe we are going to end at 12/12/12. If you've questioned this, then take time to read Dr. Calleman's books and watch Ian Xel Lungold's YouTube videos on 2012.
This felt like essential reading for anyone interested in Mayan metaphysics and the legacy of the Maya. The book was lucid and detailed and not written too irresponsibly, like many books that regard things that are lumped in with "New Age". Carl Johan Calleman had a healthy dose of reality in this book and takes into account that living in these times is both exhilarating and precarious.
There is much to learn from reading this book. And, I believe, we really should dispense with the old Gregorian calendar and move toward a truly healthy state of mind and a healthy and real civilization.
This has some very interesting ideas, but I like what Barbara Hand Clow does with them in her book better than what Calleman, himself, does with them. He had some ideas that I just did not like very much, especially since he glossed over how speculative they are. It certainly didn't help that I get the feeling, from his prose, that he is an ass. But perhaps he should have written in his native Swedish and had someone translate?
Well Billy.... This book is a mixture of facts, myth, predictions and the author's --mere-- statements. If you think that by reading this book, you'll master the Mayan Calendar, I got news for you: you'll be totally disappointed.
But I do recommend it for reading for the mere reason that an abbreviated version of the world history has been chronicled here (to pontificate a point though. And that –I think—by itself is beneficial to the average history-agnostic person.
A fabulous book on the Mayan culture, detailed enough to speak of history but extrapolations are made as to how it applies to the present day with facts.. complex to read since it uses Mayan language references, but well worth the effort! Fascinating read during this particular time period; being so close to 2012, it's not doom & gloom, but rather enlightening & historical.
Calleman is very intelligent on the subject but makes a few BS claims in it like we will suffer if we are not enlightened by October 2011. Good info but listen to ur heart and dont lie to urself and evolve so that you will make this world a better place for others not just urself FFS thats all that needs to be known about these times.
I was curious about what human behavioral patterns were documented in the Mayan Calendar. Consciousness is a vague and mysterious topic, but combine it with astronomical events and you are able to put your finger on a potential field of how the world operates.
Interesting info, but the book could have been much shorter since there's a great deal of repetition. The author also makes a bunch of factual leaps and does a poor job of presenting a sound argument. Worth a scan for the pure novelty.
