After one group of determined pirates finds a treasure chest on the rocky island, another group comes to take it away and so a battle ensues, yet after exhausting themselves with fighting, the gangs decide to work together and soon end up sharing the fun booty during one very festive, tropical party!

Here's the piratey rendering of This Little Pig Went to Market.
It's pretty repetitive, and unfortunately I'd either have to say that they made this book too long for tots, or that they made this book a little boring and too babyish for children.

Read it today In our Mermaid & Pirate Storytime and had so much fun with the kids! I used different voices and they would repeat it. I think it is a creative spin on the familiar This Little Piggie. Recommend sharing it with your crew.
1-3 sentences per page. Colorful bright illustrations of all kinds of different pigs (different colors and styles, which I appreciated), many different words related to music and food. Describes a day of pirates and them having a party.

A fun take on the "this little piggy" song with pirate piggies. My only nitpick is that I don't love the piggies design. I'm sure this will delight preK-K kids.
This Little Pirate is a book about two groups of pirate piggies who are after the same treasure box. There is some disagreement between them that leads to some not-too-nice behavior by piggies on both sides. Fortunately, the reader is told that the behavior is "naughty." This picture book uses a lot of different words to help children build vocabulary by using several different words that mean the same thing. It rhymes and the pictures by Amy Walrod are cute. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the "violence" factor of the fighting pirate piggies. But they all make up in the end.
This book is a unique take on the nursery rhyme "This Little Piggy" involving pirate pigs. The text is simple with fun rhymes. The illustrations are from cut paper. Two pirates ships land on a deserted island at the same time and find a mysterious box. The two groups fight over the box until they become exhausted and call a truce. They open the box together and find that it contains all the materials to throw a party. The groups work together to throw a magnificent party. They party til the sun goes down and then leave the island as friends.

I love this take on the traditional "This Little Piggy" nursery rhyme! Very cute story about two bands of pirates that meet on an island and both spot buried treasure. Perfect for a pirate storytime!
Another of my niece's incredible random picks off the public library shelf. It's a really fun story that plays on the rhyme "This Little Piggy", but the the piggies are all pirates. The art if really fun cut paper too.
a book about two sets of pirates that find the same thing and fight over it but then decided it would be better to just work together and they have much more fun that way.
It's so hard to find good Pirate books for preschool storytime. This one isn't bad but it goes a bit long but kids like the repetition and the fun pictures.
This is just a touch too long to read in story time, imho. However, it would be fun for reading one on one and exploring all the pictures. This would be a great springboard for imaginative play.
