For an easy reader it was pretty good. My 7 year old was engaged enough to finish the story in one shot, talk about what happened in the story and remember key elements. In the tradition of Brer Rabbit without the wisecracking or the hurtfulness, A little Opossum is able to get away from a frightening dog by using his superior intelligence. In real life bullies are not always stupid and victims of bullying rarely get away unscathed, but it gives us hope to see it happen in stories.
